Diet? What diet? A countdown: 18 TS restaurants on TIW card...#1 on pg. 18!

Hi there! :wave2: New here and just jumping in on your review! Loving it so far! Very helpful and informative!

Our trip is in 6 months! Can't wait :woohoo:

Welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying my reviews. Your trip will be here before you know it!! Heck...we don't go back again until July 2012 and MY trip will be here before we know it! :rotfl2:

Great update - worth waiting for - although I nearly missed it as your title still says #14

That Cape May breakfast looks really good, even the granola ;) I could really use a Disney World buffet breakfast about now (even thought it's tea time).

Oops...I go away for a few days and I get so out of sorts that I forget to change my title...I updated it!

The food at Cape May is very good, and that granola was delicious. It had nuts in it, which I love in granola. Disney breakfasts are awesome...wait until I review the other 2 we had!! :goodvibes

Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to write my next installment. My mom's cousin is in the hospital with congestive heart failure, although he is stabilized and doing all right according to what the doctors told my aunt. We are going to visit him this evening. If I have time I will write my next review tonight after I get home. The sad thing is...this Sunday is my aunt's 75th birthday party (his mother). We are all hoping he continues to do well so he can be at the party. He did a lot in putting it together for her and it just wouldn't be the same without him. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, OK?

great reviews :)

I thought it was fab the chef mentioning the cross contamination esp things like the crayons. I know it worried you a bit but they have to mention everything even though there may not be a problem.

cant wait to hear more.xx :goodvibes

Enjoying your dining report. I can't wait to see what #1 is.

Hi there!

Love the format of your report...can't wait to see how the other restaurants fare. I agree with you...cape may is one of my fave places for breakfast when we are doing characters. I've consistently had good food and good character interaction on my visits there. Maybe your son will grow out of his shellfish allergy someday? Probably not for awhile, but I've heard when they get older it sometimes goes away.

Sending good thoughts to your mom's cousin too :flower3:

Sending lots of pixie dust and get well soon vibes to your Mum's cousin :goodvibes I hope he is able to make the party and that it all goes off well.

Another great update
Your breakfast looked really good and what a great way to spend your final morning :-)

Yes, it made me very nervous, but things went well!! More coming later today! :goodvibes

Glad you are enjoying...only 12 more to go!!

I hope my son outgrows his allergy. The allergist said it is possible in years to come. e will have to get him tested later on to see. My sister developed a shrimp allergy as a teen (she ate them as a young child and was fine). She got tested this past spring (she's 35 now) and she is no longer allergic. She eats them again and is fine! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the good thoughts for my mom's cousin!

Sending lots of pixie dust and get well soon vibes to your Mum's cousin :goodvibes I hope he is able to make the party and that it all goes off well.

He's doing better and sounded and looked good when we saw him last night. The doctor said he should be able to go home tomorrow which means he would make the party on Sunday! I certainly hope it goes that way!!

Another great update
Your breakfast looked really good and what a great way to spend your final morning :-)

We love going to a character breakfast the final morning of the trip. It makes the last night less depressing when we are going to bed, and we have something fun to look forward to the next morning...one last piece of the Disney magic before heading home!

I knew it was going to be CMC!! :cool1:

Isn't that place wonderful?!

I'm so glad nothing happened to your son during your breakfast...not a fun way to end a vacation

All of your baked goods look soooo yummy! I'm starving right now, and thinkin about making a trip to the donut shop :scared: ...you're quite a temptress! :rotfl:

Your little boys are SOOOO cute!!! I had to laugh when I saw the picture of them hugging, one of the the first pictures you posted. They just look sooo happy with each other!

I LOVE the reviews, too! Do you mind my asking, you said you were a lifetime member of weight watchers. You look awesome. Were you ever very heavy? You have managed to keep your weight in check for sure, and still eat what you want! Gives me hope! :)

I knew that you knew I was going to review Cape May breakfast, because you reviewed it from your trip!! Yes, it is very good there. I did enjoy all of those baked goods!!! I'm very weak when I am at a breakfast buffet because I love breakfast pastries!!

Your little boys are SOOOO cute!!! I had to laugh when I saw the picture of them hugging, one of the the first pictures you posted. They just look sooo happy with each other!

Thanks for all the compliments! The boys usually play nicely together but of course they have the usual sibling rivalry too! They have matching t-shirts that say "Blame My Brother"!!! :rotfl:

I don't mind you asking about my Weight Watchers experience at all! It actually stems from about 8 years ago. I was about 35 pounds heavier than I am right now, and I never exercised so I was 5 sizes larger than I am right now. I had gone to the doctor for a physical and my cholesterol was 219, and I was only 25 years old. I decided I needed to do something so I started eating healthy and doing Tae-Bo. I went back to the doctor 6 months later and my cholesterol was down to 175! I cut out the junk food, kept working out (no more Tae-bo though, moved on to other workout DVDs, from Beachbody) and drank tons of water (something else I lacked beforehand). That was in late 2002. By the summer of 2003, I was down to a size 6 and 35 pounds lighter! In 2004, I became pregnant with my first son, and I gained 45 pounds during the pregnancy. :scared1: I started exercising again 6-weeks after he was born (with doctor's approval), and I was eating healthy again, and I lost all the pregnancy weight by the time he was 6 months old. That was July 2005. In August 2005, my mom started Weight Watchers. I was not a member but she gave me the material and I decided to follow it to maintain my weight, and I found it very easy to do. My mom ended up losing 80 pounds within a year, and has kept it off! :goodvibes

In 2006, I became pregnant with my second son. I gained 43 pounds during the pregnancy. :scared1: When he was 4 days old (yes, 4 DAYS!!), I joined Weight Watchers. I decided that since we were finished having kids, I would like to be an official member of WW and become a Lifetime Member eventually. I was hoping to accomplish LT Member status by the time my son was 1 year old. I lost 11 and a half pounds the first week!! I started working out again when my son was 6 weeks old, again with doctor's approval. I got to my goal weight after 5 months, and 6 weeks later I became a Lifetime Member! :woohoo: It was the day before my anniversary too! This November will be 3 years since I became a Lifetime Member!

I will tell you this though...I don't always eat what I want. I indulge on vacation, I gain weight on vacation (7 pounds on this Disney trip!), and I accept it and move on once I get home. One thing they taught us in the meetings is that you have 3 choices on vacation: you can either follow the program, OR you can eat what you want and accept whatever you gain, then get right back on track as soon as you get home, OR you can eat what you want and give up. So, I choose the second option, every time I go away. We only go on vacation once a year, so I look at it this way...enjoy the annual indulgence, and get right back on track with eating and working out as soon as I get home. I also indulge on holidays, but I track everything and keep it within my WW-points range. Plus I exercise on holidays. Also, I try and stick to the Filling Foods list (fruits, veggies, lean proteins, soy milk, yogurt, etc.) as much as I can. It really does help!!

Hello again everyone!! I'm pleased to say that I went to visit my mom's cousin last night, and he is doing much better! He's breathing easier, he looks and sounds great, and the doctors hope to send him home tomorrow! We're hoping and praying he gets to go home tomorrow because then he will be at his mom's 75th Birthday Party on Sunday!

And now for #12....here's another character breakfast for you guys...

CRYSTAL PALACE!

This breakfast was amazing!!! I will start by saying that we will DEFINITELY be back to this one for a few reasons! One...the food was delicious! Two...the service was excellent! Three...the Crystal Palace is a beautiful restaurant (we knew that because 2 years ago we ate dinner there)! Four...the character interaction is fantastic! And five...we got to go to MK an hour before rope drop, and we got out of CP a few minutes before the park opened! It was just a very nice breakfast all around. I also ate way too much, as I always do at breakfast buffets! Here is my first plate:

DSCF3002.jpg

Clockwise from top: puffed french toast, strawberries, whipped topping, corned beef hash with peppers and onions, chocolate Mickey waffle, bacon. That's right folks, a chocolate Mickey waffle!! I love Mickey waffles and I love chocolate...put them together and...DIVINE!!!! No chocolate chips inside, sorry to disappoint, but these were oh so delicious! The puffed french toast is to die for! I have made this at home many times, from the recipe on All Ears. This tasted just like mine! It was not greasy at all, even thought it is fried. It is not like traditional french toast. Basically, they make a batter (kind of like pancake batter), dip challah bread into the batter, fry it, and then roll it in cinnamon sugar! It's across between french toast and a doughnut and I enjoyed every bit of it! Worth going here for that alone, if you ask me! :goodvibes The strawberries were very sweet and fresh. The whipped topping was just that...whipped topping. So after one taste, I decided to eat the strawberries by themselves. I love berries with real whipped cream but I'm not crazy about Cool Whip. The corned beef has was just OK. It was a little salty for my taste. I ate a few bites. The bacon was good, nice and crispy. I'm not sure what that is at the very bottom of the picture though. :confused3

Here's my second plate:

DSCF3008.jpg

Clockwise from top: more puffed french toast :thumbsup2, doughnut holes, bacon, frittata, more doughnut holes, and a cinnamon roll. Yes, I had to get more puffed french toast!! This stuff is just too good people! :lmao: I originally got the doughnut holes for the boys, but they didn't want them so I ate a couple and they were very good. The frittata had cheese and I think some veggies and it was very good! Of course I had to put ketchup on it! ;) The cinnamon roll was fabulous and I went back up to the buffet for another one. Yes, I know what you're all thinking...OINK, OINK!! Yes, I made a complete pig of myself here! And felt like they should just roll me out of there, but I was so happy from all this glorious food that I would look like this when they rolled me out: :rotfl:!!!!! I also tried a peach cobbler thing they had on the buffet, but I only took a couple of bites. It had hunks of plain cream cheese inside and was just not to my taste. Here's a pic:

DSCF3009.jpg

DS5 insisted that I take a picture of his food to share with all of you! Of course, he had already bitten off the ear from his chocolate Mickey waffle! :rotfl2:

DSCF3003.jpg

Mickey waffles (regular and chocolate...they did have both types), puffed french toast and breakfast pizza. DS3's plate looked identical to this one! DS3 LOVED the puffed french toast and the breakfast pizza. DS5 seemed to prefer Mickey waffles!

All in all, this was a wonderful character breakfast! The characters came around but Tigger skipped our table for some reason. Our server was so nice and arranged for him to come to our table right away, and it was wonderful! They did a napkin parade around the restaurant, and my boys participated. They had a lot of fun! I was so full by the time we left that I was glad we had a full morning at MK ahead of us and ready to walk off some of this breakfast! We will definitely be back to the Crystal Palace breakfast, but we also enjoyed it very much for dinner on our last trip! What to do, what to do? Perhaps on our next trip we should go to both! ;)

Thank you so much! I don't want to take this thread off track, so I just want to say that I think WW is great. I like counting calories, though, and Sparkpeople.com has a great Droid app and it's free. I track everything I eat in my Droid. However, you make WW sound tempting to join (again -- I did it before without much success).

I think the point is to know what the points or calories you can eat each day to lose or maintain, and stick with it each day. I love your approach for vacations and will adopt that approach, too! A lot of that 7 lbs is water and bloat, I'm sure, since I don't think you ate 3500 extra calories each day (that you didn't burn off!)

Thanks for being an inspiration. :)

Where in Canada are your relatives? We went to Ottawa, and I have also been to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, but I don't have family there. We are talking about driving up to Toronto and London to visit more relatives next August, after our cruise. And here DH and I thought we were taking a break from road trips next summer!

My mom has cousins in Mississauga, I've only been up there a couple times to see them. I have never been the Niagara Falls, I would love to go! That's awesome that you get the opportunity to travel so much.

I second the thanks! I have a whole lot of weight to lose...I'm currently counting calories and keeping a log on the WISH boards here on the dis. Going on vacation and indulging, and then getting discouraged when I see the number on the scale upon my return has been an issue for me, I need to get out of that mindset! It's always great to hear success stories :goodvibes

As for that Crystal Palace review...I am so hungry for all of that now! Corned beef hash  I don't have it very often but it is one of my favorite breakfast foods (and terrible for me to boot, which is probably why I love it so much ) The puffed french toast sounds like it's to die for.

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews! :surfweb:

Glad to hear everything is going okay with your mom's cousin!

I soooo want to go to Crystal Palace for breakfast!

Your food looks ah-mazing!

One of the reasons I want to go to CP is so we can take a pic in front of the castle with no one behind it!

But remember, I have to do some MAJOR begging with DH to allow us to eat there...he hates wasting credits on Breakfasts.

Oh, while I'm here I have a question about the TiW. I was looking at the perks of getting an AP and it says that you can purchase the TiW and get 20% off of TS restaurants...can you not use it at Signature or Counter service places??

I am loving your reviews so far. I love the Countdown Format :thumbsup2

Your kids are adorable! Look at those smiles!

Lesha - TiW is great - you can use it at most sit down restaraunts - doesn't matter if it's 1 or 2 credits. You can also use it at most lounges & for alcohol with dinner - so the whole check gets discounted. DH & I like to split lots of courses or sometimes just get a couple appetizers, drinks & dessert, so TiW works perfect for that. I like it much better than the DDP. Oh yeah! This year, some of the Swolphin restaurants started taking TiW too, so you can even use it at BlueZoo now! :cool1:

I can't wait to see what's next!

The 7 pounds was over an 18-day vacation. We drove down to FL from NY so that took a couple of days, plus we visited some relatives in Boca Raton for a few days before 10 days at Disney, and I visited some old college friends in Maryland on the drive back home. Still, it probably is water, bloat, and very temporary. I am back on track since returning on Tuesday evening from Canada. I worked out yesterday and the day before, have been eating very well and feel great! ;)

The puffed french toast IS to die for, and I think everyone should try it at least once, even if you make it yourself from the recipe in All Ears! :goodvibes

I wanted to take a pic in front of an empty castle too, but since it was busy season, there were A LOT of people heading into MK for early breakfasts. Both CP and the castle offer character breakfasts at 8am, so we were in there with a pretty decent crowd. It was still nice to see a less busy MK though, without all the hustle and bustle!!

If you get the basic DDP, you can always pay OOP for one or 2 breakfasts. We did that on our 2008 trip since those TS meals were the least expensive ones.

As far as the TiW card...if you have an AP (and only one of you needs it, I was the only one who had it), you pay $75 for the TiW card. It is good for one year (although mine says it expires 8/31/11), and you get 20% off of all food and beverages (including alcohol) in TS restaurants. There are very few CS places that take it. The CS in AK take it, as well as the CS at all the value resorts and I think also the CS at either POFQ or POR (not sure which one, but it is the one that does not have the TS restaurant). They also take it in several of the restaurants in the Swan and Dolphin resorts, as well as DTD locations that don't accept the dining plan (i.e., Fulton's, House of Blues, etc.). Signature restaurants at resorts all take the TiW card, as well as all character meals both at theme parks and at resorts. They also take the TiW at the lounges in the deluxe resorts, so you can get drinks in the evening and get 20% off of those too! :) We also liked that they automatically add in 18% gratuity, because the gratuity is calculated for us so we don't have to sit there and figure it out. We also thought this was perfect for us and for our plans...but I will get to more of that later! By the way, with the AP you also get excellent shopping discounts. I got 10% off of nearly everything I bought, including Mickey ice cream bars at our resort gift shop! ;)

I am loving your reviews so far. I love the Countdown Format :thumbsup2

So I wrote this whole review of my #11 and somehow I pressed the wrong button on the computer and it all got erased. :headache: So, here goes again...

My #11 restaurant is yet another breakfast:

1900 PARK FARE!!!

This was the best breakfast of the trip! While the food quality is tied at all 3 breakfasts, this one stood out above the rest because of its unique offerings. Service? That's another story for after I tell you about the wonderful food this place has! My first plate:

DSCF2827.jpg

Yes, I took a Mickey plate! I know these are meant for the kids, but I am a big kid myself, so I just had to! :rotfl2: On this plate was a croissant, lobster eggs benedict (yes, LOBSTER eggs benedict!), and some bacon (of course...I so LOVE bacon!). The croissant was very good. The lobster eggs benedict were definitely the highlight of this breakfast. See what I mean? Unique foods! Can't get this at any other character breakfast...actually I think the only other place that offers this is the GF Cafe, which is a regular resort TS restaurant (no characters). If you are looking for huge chunks of lobster in this, you would be disappointed. However, it was DIVINE! A poached egg on top of a thin biscuit, with a delicious sauce that resembles a rich lobster bisque! A wonderful combination! The bacon was...well...bacon! It was good.

I had to get some of the chilled strawberry soup of course! Did I tell you guys that strawberries are my favorite fruit? Well, I took some of this soup, and put some fresh strawberries on top. I was in complete strawberry heaven! :cloud9: Here it is:

DSCF2829.jpg

This soup was amazing! If you get to 1900 Park Fare, definitely try this! They have it at dinner too!

And then, and I know you all knew this was coming...there is my plate full of sweet stuff!

DSCF2830.jpg

Clockwise from top left: pecan sticky bun, chocolate croissant, french toast with bananas foster syrup, bread pudding with vanilla sauce. WOW!!! The pecan sticky bun resembled the ones I have eaten in Lancaster, PA when we go there on vacation, and I LOVE those!! The chocolate croissant was delicious. My mom said it was her second favorite thing on she ate here, second only to lobster eggs benedict! The french toast is plain on the buffet, and near it are plain maple syrup and bananas foster syrup. Well...I can have plain syrup any time, so I went with the more unique option, the bananas foster syrup. DELICIOUS!!! What a great combo! The bread pudding is separate from the vanilla sauce on the buffet, and both are great together! My sister took some bread pudding and put bananas foster syrup on top of it and she said it was delicious.

We went here on the morning that my parents, my sister, her fiance and my nieces left to go home. The 4 of us stayed 6 more days after that. We were a party of 10, and therefore, the server knew once we sat down that she was getting an automatic 18% gratuity. We went to several TS meals with a party of 10 on this trip, and this was the only one where we encountered poor service. She took forever to clear plates from our table, and seemed uninterested in our table compared to others. One time my sister asked for ketchup for her eggs, and the server did not return for 15 minutes...without the ketchup! My sister asked her again and she took yet another 10 minutes to bring it. OK, no more negativity...

On to more positive things! Character interaction was great here! Mary Poppins was very sweet to all the kids and they loved her. Alice in Wonderland was also very sweet. Tigger and Pooh were great and my boys loved them! But the best one was, by far, the Mad Hatter! He was just so darn funny!! Everyone loved him, and on the way out of the restaurant, my dad spotted him walking around and went over to him to shake his hand and say good-bye! It was a lot of fun!

1900 Park Fare is a beautiful restaurant, inside a very beautiful hotel, the Grand Floridian!! I highly recommend this breakfast to anyone, even if you are not into character dining. We will definitely be back! :thumbsup2

Fabulous reviews so far! Love your system (as everyone else has already said!) and the boys are gorgeous (again, I'm not very original!) :)

I've never had eggs benedict and yours look scrumptious!

You should try eggs benedict! It's a wonderful dish! Traditionally, it's a poached egg served on top of half a toasted English muffin and a slice of Canadian bacon, topped with hollandaise sauce. But a lot of places add new twists to it. I highly recommend it!

I'm glad you are enjoying my reviews!

Goodness gracious! I hate reading reports about all these fabulous breakfasts, when all I had for breakfast this morning was some cream of wheat and half a bagel :headache: :rotfl:

I've never considered going to 1900 Park Fare before...sigh, looks like I need to add this one to the list of 'must dos' as well..

Where in the GF is this located at?
