What was your Prom theme? Or if you didn't - what 1980s sound would be a great prom theme?

And seeing some of your 1980s prom photos would be a bonus here!

1981 "Come Sail Away" by Stix
1982 (senior year, I can't remember??)

Our theme in 1985 was "Inspiration"...with the theme song of "you're the meaning of my life, you're my inspiration..." We also used Cherish (Kool and the Gang) as a theme at one point, too.

1983 -- Freebird :rotfl:

No clue where the pictures are, but here's a visual...

Me: bad perm. The bottom of my dress was peach dotted swiss with a hoop skirt underneath. :cool1: The top was white, spaghetti strapped, with peach embroidery. There was a peach satin sash. :scared1:  At the time I thought it was beautiful. Looking back, it was absolutely hideous.

My date: white tux with peach ruffly tux shirt, peach bow tie and peach cumberbun.

All that was missing was the top hat and walking stick. :rolleyes1

1988 "True" by Spandau Ballet

We had a poplular DJ,Richard Blade, from KROQ (popular LA radio station) come to our prom and spin some records :D

I wore a strapless, tight, pink, mermaid type of dress:lmao: Thought it was so beautiful back them but now?? Yikes and of course, the big 80's puffed up hair and bushy eye brows!!:rotfl:

Good times...

Oh, in that same year I won a contest to meet Duran Duran and got to kiss Simon Lebon on the check...that was my 80's highlight! :3dglasses

I went to an all girls high school. So Prom was a HUGE deal. Junior prom was Open Arms by Journey.

It was 1982 and this was our "song"

I had gotten my boyfriends class ring a week before at his prom. Then got sick as a dog- out of school for a week Prom night was my first night out. I still had the fever but sucked on ice cubes so when my mom took my temperature it was low. :rotfl2:
We had a great time.

But I also went to 5 other proms- My senior and I was dates at a bunch of others.
Senior prom was 1983 and we had "discovered" Kings Point Academy so it was an Officer and a Gentleman theme. And our theme song was Genesis "Follow you" - we had a classmate die that year in a hit and run on new year's eve. That was her favorite song.
Oh I'm hunting out the pictures.

1981- "The Times of your Life" by Paul Anka. And yes, I wore a powder blue gunnue sax dress, with my date in the matching powder blue ruffled shirt tux. We were stylin'!!!! Oh yeah - can't forget my farrah fawcett hairdo either LOL.

My proms were in 1989 and 1990. I have no clue what the themes were. A lot has happened to me since then. :rotfl2:

But, I remember my dresses. Junior year was a teal, tea-length, strapless dress with silverish lace over the skirt. I wore silver pantyhose and silver shoes. My senior year, I wore a purple dress with the puffy sleeves that hung off the shoulders. Purple pantyhose, purple heels.

I'd post some pictures if I knew where they were!

in 1981 and "in my life" by the beatles was jr prom. Can't remember senior prom.

1986, Prom theme song was "Melt with You" by Modern English...how eighties was that!! Big time.

No, even if I had the pics handy you would NOT be seing them! Senior prom I wore a pink strapless short dress with sunglasses :confused3 ...I wish I could still fit into it! I worked at Filene's Basement at the time and got the pick of the $10 prom dress sale before they went on the sales floor!

For another prom (jr year?) I wore a lilac long gown that was off the shoulder chiffon and now looking back it had curtain-like ruffles! It's so funny how we thought how cool & gorgeous we were, but I guess that's fashion!

p.s. I think the tag fairy should visit this thread!!! :lmao:
