Did we really just buy DVC at BLT? Taking MIL in Dec! Acronyms abound!

We are planning on meeting by the Partners statue about 15 minutes after fireworks. I am hoping to get a few people together to watch the MSEP and Wishes as well.... We will be having dinner at 1900 PF at 5:00 that night and hoping to make it back for a semi-decent spot for MSEP.
We can definitely try and stop by for the fireworks then maybe- not sure we will actually watch them or not- since we plan to see the holiday ones instead. but we will try and come by- will everyone be wearing the liime green or how to we identify? :rotfl:;):thumbsup2

Hmmm. Good question! I am thinking that I will probably be able to recognize people from seeing so many pics in PTRs. I don't know how many people will be at the statue after fireworks, so I guess we will just see! How's that for clarity?! It would be great if you guys could make it!

Wow that is awesome. Welcome to DVC. We went on the DVC tour in 1991 when they first introduced it and it took 10 years for my husband to finally agree to buy in. He regrets not doing it sooner. We have had wonderful vacations and our children have been able to enjoy going also. Can't wait to read about your trip report. :dance3:

Would love it if you were able to make it to the meet up after the fireworks! Here is the link to the thread that was going about it!!

That sounds like a great day and I am so jealous about you staying at BLT, my dream DVC

I am still so sad that I am missing the DISmeet

LOL- works for me. i am sort of shy usually, but i've done some other DIS meets, particularly before the podcast cruise last year. it's funny how friendly people are though. i was staying at the Dolphin pre-cruise and checking out the pool (which is amazing) and i walk over near the hot tub area- and i am wearing my DIS podcast lanyard and lime green mickey and i hear someone say 'are you on the DIS?'.......lol- it was a lovely couple that was on the boards that i had talked to and were also doing the cruise. they were from NOLA and gave me some fun beads too!

lol at it taking 10 years, but hey, at least he finally did it, right? That is so great you have enjoyed it all these years!!! what's been your favorite resort so far? We are looking forward to many wonderful years of trips. We just booked our October trip for next year- just the 3 of us (although I am hoping i will have baby on board by then and be pregnant!). :goodvibes Thanks for reading!

Great, thanks for posting the link, i am going to go check it out now!:thumbsup2

I am still so sad that I am missing the DISmeet
So sad you won't be there either. to be honest, BLT wasn't my dream resort really- I liked the room design at AKL much better, however, we weighed our options and decided with a little one (and trying for a second), that the proximity to the MK would be great, and the monorail access. Neither DH or I are big into the whole modern/contemporary design at all=- we are more traditional in our taste, so AKL fit that theming better- plus i hate that the CR doesn't have a cool lobby like AKL, but in the end, BLT won out. We like dining at the monorail resorts too, so it just seemed like the best fit for us. I am so excited to try it. I've never stayed at the Contemporary or BLT before. We've dined at Cali Grill a ton of times and Chef Mickey's, but never stayed. can't wait!!:santa::santa::santa:

I'm not much into the theme of the resort either but when we went last year and it was just me and the 2 girls I thought the convenience was priceless. I love that you can watch the fireworks any night right from the resort!

My dream resort is Poly but they will never build a DVC there

Hey Disney if you are listening build a DVC at POLY and I will buy it!!!!!!!

I hate when this happens, had a nice long update going and somehow got all deleted, so being safe and typing it in word first this time. So starting again today.

First a few updates. The trip is all paid in full- all tickets are purchased now- just ordered Lindsey’s 8 day hopper from undercover tourist, already have our other APs and MIL’s ticket too. MVMCP tickets will be at will call. We have to head to the DTD service desk anyhow to activate our AP’s when we arrive (DTD is our first stop after airport). I figure we will get MVMCP there (or do we have to do that at MK ticket window???) and buy TiW card too.

My parents can’t pick us up from the airport now as she is hosting a Christmas party that night. So I am booking the car service for our return transportation from DFW back home too. It isn’t cheap, but mom wants to help pay for it, which is nice. Plus, really, parking would cost us about $100 (and the hassle of taking a shuttle off site to the airport, lugging all our crap etc.). The car service round trip is about $225 and will drop us off right at the baggage check and pick us up right outside baggage claim- easy breezy. Worth it I think! So that is booked now.

All that’s left is to pack and get all my plans and ressies down in a mini notebook. I like to print out smaller versions of everything- flight info, car rental info, room ressie, ADRs, and extra tips like storyteller times at epcot and of course the daily plan. I put it in a mini notebook the size of a notecard and use that as my trip resource---pull it out from the backpack to reference all the time and take trip notes in it too for my trip report. I do have an iPhone with the DIS app on it too- so I plan to load my itinerary in there too. But I hate typing notes on there- I am just not much of a ‘texter’, so I would prefer to hand write my trip notes. I know, the horror!!! Lol I will however use my phone for constant pics and posts on Facebook- so if you aren’t my friend yet, be sure and look up Michelle Easler Peters and friend me! I thought about doing a ‘live report’, but I think it is just too much work to do a good one and I really want to focus my time on enjoying my family instead! Priorities, I know?!

So now on to DAY 5!
DAY 5, Wednesday, December 8

Today we are once again up early, probably 7ish and snack/breakfast in the room. Today’s plans take us to Hollywood Studios for our second visit. We already will have been there once on the evening of Sunday, December 5th to see the lights (and EMH). So today, we are focusing on what we missed that night. This is not an EMH morning- just regular day.

We plan to arrive at Rope drop to make the mad cattle drive over to TSM!!! I haven’t decided the best strategy here- to FP it first or ride it first? Any ideas? We don’t ‘have’ to ride it a second time, but would be nice. So what would you recommend? I’ve never done the mad dash over there. The only time I have ridden it was during the DIS party last December where we had private use of the ride for hours with no wait! So I don’t know the best strategy here. We wouldn’t want a late FP, because we don’t plan to stay later than say 1:30 or 2pm. HS opens at 9am this day.

hopefully we will see this guy!

ry%3D400
So after we do the mad dash for TSM and ride it, I want to head towards ToT or RnR. I am hoping we can knock out TSM by 9:30am- is that realistic? I am hoping we can do both RnR or ToT during EMH on Sunday, but if we don’t, I want to build in time now to do them (or if we want to do one again). If the lines are long, and the FP return time isn’t too late, we will just grab a FP instead. Assuming we ride at least one, I figure it is 10:15 or 10:30 by now?

ry%3D400

After that, grab a snack at Starring Rolls. I figure by now it will be close to 10:30 or later- so I want to try one of the fabulous cupcakes or have another snack. We won’t be doing lunch at the park (hate the CS choices here)- we will have lunch in our room instead. So we want a big enough snack to tide us over. I know they also serve sandwiches here too, maybe we split one.

ry%3D400

And maybe we will run into this guy.......my son loves trash cans as you know.......so he was amused by the streetmosphere cop who was 'hiding' in a trash can!

ry%3D400

After our snack/break, we will head over to Playhouse Disney to see the show there- I believe there is an 11:20am show if we can make it in time. Not sure. I think the next show is like 12:10, so that would be fine probably too, maybe we could do some shopping or character autographs while waiting.

ry%3D400
After that, let’s assume the later show, it will be 12:30pm, if we want to try the drawing class, we will head that way. It isn’t a for sure, but I think DH and my niece would love it. DH has always been into drawing and art. So he might enjoy it. Not sure my son will, but maybe we can goof around some in the back or I can take him out if I need to and let the others enjoy trying it.

If we have a FP for TSM or ToT or RnR, we can go use it now. really we are open at this point and planning to leave the park around 1:30 or 2pm. If there is anything we missed on Sunday and want to do, we will do it now, as this is really our last time at HS, unless we decide to come back for some reason on our last day. We typically only do a morning here and then an evening- for a full day (on two different days, so it is just a little more than a full day). Because we are skipping the backlot tour and LMA stunt show, I think it is doable. We might skip both Indiana Jones and B&B, not sure. If we do them, it will only be one of them and on Sunday not this day. We are not doing Fantasmic either. Fantasmic is being shown the next night and I am hoping that will draw the bigger crowds vs this non EMH day. I saw Fantasmic years ago and wasn’t impressed, plus we don’t want to wait and I know it is huge crowds we just don’t want to deal with. I was able to see it at DL in September and loved that version on the rivers of America. Now I don’t think the HS version can compare! Plus DS is just 3 and might be a little young for all the loud noise and scariness!

Plus the HS close an hour early today, at 7pm, due to the Pop Warner football private party. So I am hoping those with non hopper tickets won’t choose HS for today and maybe it won’t be that crowded. So I can hope right. It is a non party night at MK too- so those without party tickets you think would choose MK this morning. No EMH, no Fantasmic and closing earlier than normal, I am hoping those things work in my favor for lower crowds. We can all dream, right?

So let’s assume we run late and leave at 2pm……we are driving our rental car, so that puts us back at the hotel say by 2:15 or so (we should have good parking with RD and I know my way around well when driving from working on property!). So back to BLT for a break- whether it is a nap for my son, swim, just tv time or whatever.

By 4pm, it is up and at ‘em! Time to head over to the CR, hop on the monorail to the TTC and transfer to Epcot! Anyone know about how much time to build in for this trip? I don’t usually do the monorail to Epcot other than just for fun! Lol- since we are staying at BLT, I want to use this benefit!

Hoping we can arrive by 4:30 and head back to Le Cellier area! We have a 5:10pm ADR at Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional package. So here is my dilemma. So when we made our CLP package ressies, I couldn’t get through…..if you booked, you know the first day it was available (back in August?) was crazy long waits on the phone. I couldn’t even get through- I tried for over an hour, on two phones (landline and cell) and kept getting busy signals. I posted on the DIS and a kind friend I had met before (lives in the DFW area) was sweet enough to get my ressie for me since she got through. Talk about magic! The problem is back then, we were just a party of 4. So I booked it for 3 adults and one child. Now that my niece is coming- we have 5. Going from a table of 4 to 5 is usually tough. In fact I just called to check and no availability to add her. So I think our best shot is to just show up and put my son in my lap. He is a toddler afterall and often times ends up in my lap. Lol. Or she suggested we ask for a highchair at the corner of the table or something if the restaurant allows it. So far, they have usually been accommodating when we had to add just one person, so I am hoping so here, even if he is in my lap, since that wouldn’t take up another seat/spot. Since they actually bill you and charge you there at the restaurant, I assume they could add/charge Lindsey then too. So I am just assuming it all goes okay.

If for some reason they won’t give us the extra ‘VIP’ ticket for the show, then I bet my DH would sit out with my son and let us girls do the show. No biggie there. I am more concerned about all of us eating there together- it is my DH’s favorite meal and one of mine. So crossing my fingers all goes well!

So with a 5:10pm ressie, I am hoping we get in quickly and don’t wait. Even with an ADR, we’ve often had a wait of 15 minutes at LC. So hopefully we can be wrapped up by dinner at like 6:30 or so. So what to eat? Well I love the pretzel bread, definitely asking for more of that! I am getting the famous cheddar cheese soup too- love it! We do get an appetizer with the package- yum! Since we are paying out of pocket for most meals, we probably won’t get appetizers or dessert that often. Okay, maybe dessert! For dinner- I do love my steak. I will either go with the filet or the NY strip. If I do the filet, no mushrooms and probably ask for the cream cheese mashed potatoes with either one.

ry%3D400
For dessert, going with my favorite- chocolate mousse- I had the s’mores last time and they just didn’t do it for me- they were cute in presentation, but hard to eat. I love my s’mores at 50s Prime Time though!
ry%3D400
So now it is probably 6:30- time to head and wander around a bit! We might go ahead and tour Canada and the UK and maybe France if we have time. Not sure what time they ask us to line up for the show? Anyone know? I assume by 7:45 probably? So we won’t have a ton of time for the 8:15pm show.

candlelight12.jpg

We don’t plan to catch Illuminations this night, as we will see it our first night. So after the show, we will probably take our time strolling the rest of the World Showcase until they kick us out, while others are lining up for Illuminations. If we do that, and end up staying through Illuminations, we always wait until the mad throngs of crowds disperse before we head out- it makes for a nice slow stroll to enjoy the fountains or stop in mousegears. If we are tired, we will just head out after the show and avoid the Illuminations crowds (or maybe catch a ride on spaceship earth on the way out!).

ry%3D400

The next day we are heading back to Epcot, so we can see more then. We plan to spend a lot of time at Epcot and MK- our two favorites.

It sort of all works out like this:
3 mornings at MK, 2 nights at MK (one is MVMCP, one is EMH)
2 mornings at Epcot, 3 nights at Epcot (one is EMH, one is CLP)
1 morning at HS, 1 night at HS (EMH night)
1 morning/afternoon at AK

We aren’t doing any EMH mornings, which is odd for us- we usually do them, but didn’t work out with our schedule this time for some reason. Plus, we still do RD anyhow, which means we are still waking up early- usually by 7.

I think because I have stayed off site and had crappy bus schedules I love Disney transport and the wait never seems long to me. I don't remember ever waiting longer than 5 minutes for a bus or monorail

Next year I am staying at the Poly, or beach Club... decisions decisions

love your plans for the 8th! (that'll be the day DF & I arrive in NYC so it'll be the start of our vacation too! :cool1:)

For the Toy Story Mania 'strategy' ... we usually get straight in the standby line (arrive at DHS for rope drop though!) .. it's literally a walk on and the queue for FP machines is actually bigger, IMO! :confused3
Then get FPs.. it'll probably be for after 11am though... :goodvibes

Our trips are sooo close now!

Emma princess: x

So in other news- we did book our next trip- it's official!!!

October 15-22, 2011 at Bay Lake Tower- Lake View studio!

It will just be the 3 of us next year- a true 'family' vacation. I am also hoping I will be pregnant on that trip. Here's hoping, wishing and praying!

I was a little nervous about booking it, as I want to discuss with DH to start actively trying in January- so if by some miracle we got pregnant in feb/march, then October would NOT be good timing. So i figure we will wait to try until at least March/April at the earliest and not do any fertility treatments until summer if we have to do that again. I can handle doing disney pregnant, just don't want to be like 8-9 months! Of course it will suck on the whole 'wine' part of the food and wine festival, but it's a sacrifice i'll make! lol :goodvibes

So sitting here at work making my official little mini notebook i take each trip. i basically print out all my ressies, daily plan and info such as flight, rental car etc. I tape all the info onto little sheets in the notebook, so it is easy to read and not a huge folder. I used to take the huge binder and it was just a waste. this is easier and more convenient to carry. so working on it now! More packing this weekend. I think i am going to actually try on everything and figure out which pairs of jeans i want to take and shirts.

for Pooh- i like to actually put his outfits in large ziploc bags, so i have the shorts/shirt and socks for the day all together! then put him in jeans that night. easy!

those are tough- what time frame are you going next year? i want to try both at some point and was going to try for BCV for next October, but i know with food and wine, it will be hard to get at 7 mos. so we have BLT booked already. yeah for 5 minutes! great news. plus at least taking the monorail is more fun than the bus, right? ;)

Hey Emma- yeah for starting your vacation- so how long are you in NY for? You are going to the new Times Square store, right? I can't wait to read your TR after! yeah, i think maybe standby is the way to go. We will get FPs on the way out and if the return time is decent. :thumbsup2

we have three nights in New York.. never been before, sooo excited.. and then it'll be followed by 6 nights at my favourite place in the world.. should be the perfect vacation!! :cloud9:

Yes definitely plan to visit the new Disney Store in Times Square :goodvibes -I know DF will say "why do we need to go in there? we'll be in WDW in a few days!?" .. I was reading about the new store on a blog the other day, looks amazing! think I 'need' one of those "I ::MickeyMo NY" tshirts hehe.

you definitely have to visit- they might have some cute NY disney themed stuff you won't find in the parks!!! ;) sounds like a perfect trip. I've been to NY once, on business, but i basically didn't have time to do anything fun- i saw my hotel room, the convention center and one night had time to briefly run out for a sandwich. As I was walking down the street, trying to look like i knew where i was going some lady stopped and asked me for directions......i was like, sorry, i'm a tourist too! i guess my attempt to fit in worked!!! lol I hope to get back one day and do all the fun touristy things!;)

I would like to try oct for the F&W and MNSSHP but we will see what happens with finding a job
good luck on the job hunt!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

2 weeks from tomorrow we leave!!!!!!!:santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

So on that Friday, 2 weeks from today, i'll be working my last day in the office and hopefully heading out a bit early. My mother in law and niece will be driving down from Oklahoma to stay the night with us, but we haven't decide on what time they will arrive yet. I will probably take us all out for a quick dinner or pick up a rotisserie chicken or something easy- i figure better to eat healthy before we eat crazy at WDW!!! We will all try and get to bed early, since we have a car picking us up at 4am! ouch! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

lol at it taking 10 years, but hey, at least he finally did it, right? That is so great you have enjoyed it all these years!!! what's been your favorite resort so far? We are looking forward to many wonderful years of trips. We just booked our October trip for next year- just the 3 of us (although I am hoping i will have baby on board by then and be pregnant!). :goodvibes Thanks for reading!

We don't really have a favorite DVC resort. We love them all. If you want a nice and quiet place the Old Key West, Animal Kingdom and Wilderness resorts are really awesome. When we go to WDW during the food and Wine festival and the Flower and Garden Show we try and stay at either the Boardwalk or Beach Club because they are so close to Epcot. Our motto is " it doesn't matter where we stay, We are at WDW that is what matters"

I've stayed at AKL and WL just in the regular hotel and loved them both, so i know we would enjoy the villas too. I would like to try them all out at some point!!! We also love Epcot, so would love to stay at BCV or BWV too. so true!! love the motto!

How exciting!! :woohoo: We may be going around that timeframe also. I want to go for DS's first birthday, but not necessarily ON his birthday. I was thinking middle of October would be a good time to go. We went the first week of October on our honeymoon and had a great time, so I'm looking forward to another fall/Halloween trip! And I wish you luck with the TTC/fertility treatments. :lovestruc Doing WDW pregnant wasn't all that bad, I just needed more breaks than usual and we took it at a slower pace. But we still had an AMAZING time! Hey, maybe we will run into you next year! :thumbsup2
