So I am going on June 25, 2012-July 1 at POFQ. I booked in March when there was no discount. Apparently now people can save 20% on these rooms?

Should I be really upset that I didn't get this discount or does this happen to people that they book and then Disney offers discounts. I don't go to Disney enough to know when the discounts are given so I just booked it when I found out I could go... :confused3

Did you call and either re-book using the discount or ask them to apply the discount? One year I already booked a package, then free dining opened up. I called & they added it to my package for me.

If your dates are during the valid discount period, and your resort is available for the discount, you would be able to make the change and apply the discount. Just call CRO and they can check availability. :goodvibes

THANK YOU for the advice! I called and got the discount. Disney is so great and nice to their customers (unlike so many other companies!) Funny how I just assumed I made a mistake and was getting ripped off! :rotfl2:

I'm staying June 25 thru July 3 at POFQ. The "sale" rate they have now is 174 more then the rate I paid back in Feb when I booked it.

The 'sale rooms' may all be gone for that resort, so they are now showing at rack rate. I went on the AP site right after the AP discounts came out to see if I could switch my upcoming reservation from CSR to POFQ. The rates showed, but they were all at rack rate. If I hadn't known what the rack rate was, I would have just thought I was getting a lousy AP rate.:rotfl: This was the very first first day AP discounts came out, so I just assumed they'd have AP rates available. Apparently no AP rooms were released at POFQ for the week I'm going to be there, but the site didn't tell me that. They just showed rooms for POFQ on the AP site at rack rate. I then checked at PORS and found a good AP rate for a courtyard view Princess room. After thinking about it for a few days, I went back to make sure it was still available, before calling to make the switch. It still showed on the AP site as a discounted room, but suddenly had went up in price by several hundred dollars. When checking on the regular WDW site, that price was rack rate. They had apparently sold out of the AP discounted rooms, but rooms were showing under the AP site at rack rate. Some room categories had sold completely out (even at rack rate), but others were showing at rack rate. You just had to know what rack rate was before checking, to know if the rate shown was an AP discounted room or if it was showing at rack rate under the AP discounted section.

We originally booked in January for our 6/13-6/20 stay and received 20% off the first two nights (6/13-14) through the Spring Savings discount that's valid 4/13-6/14.

My husband called Guest Relations this morning to see if we could get 20% off the remaining nights through the new Summer Savings discount instead of the discount off the first two nights. Yeah, no we cannot...unless we check-out/check-in on 6/15? We're travelling in a group of 13 (three separate reservations, nearby rooms requested, etc.), so the idea of jumping through hoops has us a little uneasy, ESPECIALLY since getting the same room isn't guaranteed. My husband even spoke to a manager who said there is no other work-around even though five of our seven nights fall into the new discount period. Is this seriously correct? There's really no way anyone can go into the reservations system and update individual days? We'd change our reservations if we could, but non-refundable plane tickets (awesome price) have already been purchased.

Sorry...to save money I would make separate reservations. They will link the two reservations together (same for the other rooms and guests) so you don't have to move rooms. However, you will have to go to the desk in the morning to check out and check in again. We did it last year and they made it very simple. I just made sure I did it early in the morning as soon as the front desk was open.

It sounds like you had a good experience, but our biggest concern is how seamless it is. With our large group - and already having several reservations linked - we're concerned the whole process would mess-up everything, particularly the room arrangement since keeping the same room is not guaranteed. We'd save about $600, but we're not sure if the hassle involved is worth the stress and effort.

do you really think they are going to have you change rooms, thats more work for them

You're probably correct, but the rep said very matter-of-factly that there is no guarantee of getting the same room. Even if 99% of reservations have no issues, there's always that 1% chance, and with our large group, I'm not sure if we want to risk it.

Has anyone heard of instances where guests had to change rooms?

They will tell you that they will make every effort to keep you in the same room. But they will NOT promise up front that a move will not be required. We've had a split reservation twice and didn't have to move.

We've had several split reservations and didn't move, the process for checking out/back in is very simple. If you have the first and second reservations linked, you shouldn't have any issues. I usually talk with the check in CM to make sure the second reservation is still linked. As a PP stated, why would they WANT you to move?

I do understand your point about several reservations tied together, but I would do it for the savings. None of the requests are guaranteed ahead of time, anyway. (connecting rooms, floor, near each other, etc.)

For about 20 years our same group has gone to WDW to play golf (two rooms on separate reservations). On the first night we have a room only reservation and starting on the 2-6 nights have a new premium plan reservation for each of two rooms. Only once in twenty years did we have to switch rooms and one other time we stayed in the same two rooms but were not next to each other. We are all adults so while inconvenient it was not much of burden. We are also up very early so checking in on the second day, while slightly incovenient, was not too much hassle. By now it is routine for us.
We always check by phone about two weeks in advance to make certain the rooms and reservations are linked.
Thus, while very rare it could happen, so if you can accept the possiblity of switching, the discount may be worth the risk. If not, than no discount is worth ruining a trip. It also depends on who the other people are.
It is not the actual hassle, rather the anxiety of worrying about so many family and friends.
Good luck.
