Did anyone watch Rock Star: INXS last night?

I think most of us here would agree with you. AI seems so juvenile in comparison. Though I really liked Bo - maybe he was on the wrong show! :rotfl2:

When Rockstar first started, I told DH that this is what Bo should have tried out for. In reality though, Bo would NOT be happy with INXS music, he is gonna make it big with his own style.

....WHOMEVER they pick to be the new front man for INXS, this show totally BLEW American Idol outta de water!!!!!! (just MHO :confused3 !)

It sure did!!!

When I watched the first episode, my DH had absolutely no interest in the show, figuring it was going to be just another AI. After the first episode was over, I told him, "WOW! You really need to watch this show, it's amazing." He was skeptical. Finally, after a few weeks, he'd hear the singers in the background and he'd come and stand in the doorway until he was as glued to the performance shows as I was. :rotfl:

CBS needs to continue this show somehow. Didn't someone mention in this thread they were going to do a similar one for Stone Temple Pilots? Even if not, maybe they can pick a singer for the house band and give them a contract! That house band is incredible.

It looks like we need to tune into VH1 on Sunday night for a show that shows us "what's going to be happening" to our contestants. Then, the finale is on Tuesday night at 10. I actually pencil these episodes into my desk planner to make sure I don't miss them! :rockband:

Do you have a time?

I read somewhere (think it was TV Guide) that this is not a popular show. The ratings are low.

Personally, I never miss it.

Here is a link to alot of information regarding the low ratings. The Monday show was moved to Sunday nights on VH1 because of this. I didn't realize how much this show costed to produce until I did some research.

http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/rock_star_inxs/2005_Jul_31_ratings_slide

Go to the bottom of the page to some of the other links and you can see some updates that rating have improved somewhat.

I agree that is so much better than AI and the back up band is very good.

Hey, Nancy~ Here in the East Coast time zone, it starts at eight o'clock. I just realized that it's going to be on opposite the Emmys! I love Ellen Degeneres, and she's hosting. She's always funny, so I'll have to switch back and forth during commercial breaks! Tuesday night, I'll be dedicated to the finale though! :flower:

From JD's blog:

September 15th

Today I woke up to find a brand new Honda Civic in the driveway. Cool. I think I'm going to donate it to a family I read about from New Orleans. Sometimes when things are given to us, we should think about directing that generous energy into something or someone else.

I would like to thank you all for a wonderful summer! Please hold on to your dreams and make each moment count. For in the end all we have are our memories. I hope to make music with INXS. If I end up going home, I promise that I will continue to create music. I now have so much inspiration from you all that I feel like I need ten arms to write everything down.

I think the ratings have been steadily climbing since this summer. I really hope it's enough to renew the show.

So did anyone watch the reality version tonight? I can't believe that JD went into the song writing sessions with nothing prepared. I can't help but think that it was a mistake that will cost him in the end.

I decided tonight that I'll back either Mig or JD as the new lead. If Marty gets it I probably won't be listening to INXS's new music. I just don't like his type of music very well. JD will probably be high maintenance for the band but he does write good music. Mig is the most polished and I like his sound but his probably just too "nice" for what INXS wants... JMHO :goodvibes

In Canada it only plays on Monday nights so I'll be watching tomorrow. I'm surprised JD would not prepare, especially after the studio recording session that he also didn't prepare for. :confused3

I was really surprised about that too! I figured it would either cost him or work in his favor somehow. I can see his reasoning behind it -- he wanted to collaborate the same way he would in a real situation, so I don't blame him for trying it out that way. Andrew didn't seem real thrilled about it, though, but he wasn't upset. At least he got to see that JD can work well under pressure. It sounded as if he liked what they were putting out.

I laughed so hard when it showed them packing up, and Marty just took the drawer out and dumped it into his bag!

I think MiG hung himself with the song that he chose to sing ~ Bohemian Rhapsody. Out of every song sang during this show to choose from, why choose that one!? I think Marty and JD made good choices.

I was very disappointed at the very end of the show when they had to trash the house and throw the furniture in the pool. They said "we wouldn't be true rockers if we didn't have a party like this". (or something to that effect)

Is it Tuesday yet!!??

I didn't see them do that! I wonder if they were put up to it? I can't believe they would do something like that.

:confused3 Wow, I guess I missed that part of the show. That's too bad...

I wish Mig didn't choose Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm sure he'll do a great job, but it's not showing us how good he'll be at fronting INXS. Plus he needs to be looking forward and not looking back.

What was the song that Marty chose? I didn't recognize the name. Who sang it earlier in the show?

I wish they would have the top 3 each sing a few INXS songs and have them all sing the same songs. Wouldn't that be interesting to hear each of their takes on the same INXS songs?

I'm excited to watch the finale, but also sad that the show is over.

They threw the furniture in the pool at the way end of the show.....like the *trailer* for the next show kinda....

Marty chose Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, and JD chose The Rollings Stones You Can't Always Get What You Want. JD said he has always told people he wanted that song and Sympathy for the Devil (also by the Stones) played at his funeral!

I too would have thought that they would have had the remaining 3 sing INXS songs ~ perhaps the same couple of songs. They are hearing them sing, but they are not hearing them sing *their songs*....how are they truly going to know if they *fit* their band?

I do have to mention after listening to it over a few times ~ I really like the new INXS song the the last 5 rockers sang together!! I know many many of you here did not like it.....I did not really at first either. It is kind of *Partridge Familish* but not really......if you listen to the words ~ I really like it! If Dave Navarro rocked with them on that song, and all 5 rockers sang it......I would buy it!!!

I have been a JD/Mig fan from the first show. Yes I liked JD even then. I am afraid Mig might have shot himself in the foot picking a Queen song, even though it is a song that will showcase his talent. I am also afraid that he might take off his jacket or tear his shirt a bit too much for the INXS guys. I am really pulling for JD now.

Is it Tuesday yet?

After the way Suzie sang Bohemian Rhapsody, I wouldn't touch that song with a ten foot pole.
Marty did pick well with Wish You Were Here. It showcases his softer side.

Is Tuesday the finale or Wednesday?
