Did anyone watch Rock Star: INXS last night?

Marty is my favorite, but I must say...... JD seemed a much better fit for the band tonight.
I am looking forward to buying Marty's CDs in the future.

Having been a fan of INXS since 1985, I can now say I am so over them. I can't believe they chose the Elvis impersonator, the man who butchered "We are the Champions" the bottom dweller that is JD Fortune. Where is the puking smiley?!

MiG was still my favorite but I would have loved to have seen the direction that Marty would have taken them. JD just repulses me and I think he will alienate a lot of us "older" fans. ;) At least that is the consensus of my group of friends, not that that means much to anyone else.

I'm so happy Marty lost because he was simply way too good for INXS.

I'm very surprised they went with someone so similiar to Michael, I guess they want to cling to the past. The new single is terrible, it's so boring.......Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I hope Marty turns down their offer and just goes out on his own instead.

We should keep this thread alive by posting any news that we hear of the former contestants! :)

Define "older." Because I'm pushing 40 and I've adored JD since day one! :teeth: I hated his behavior in the house, but I thought his stage presence was incredible. He did have a few bad weeks where I was wondering if he'd lost it, but he did come bouncing back.

Easy Easy sounded like INXS.... Now I like INXS (was a big fan "back in the day") but I was disappointed that they chose a Michael Hutchence impersonator. When JD sang INXS songs I felt like he was trying to sing and move like Michael.... I didn't like that.

I'm looking forward to Marty's cd....

Well, after listening to each perform with INXS, as soon as JD started singing, I said, "he's the one!". He just fits in with them really well. Marty is awesome and I think he would do well on his own (he should take the house band with him, lol). I also agree, wasn't too impressed with easy easy, but maybe once we hear it more...it will grow on us. I also agree Pretty Vegas should be on the new cd. I'm hoping that if Marty has a cd out he'll add Trees on it. I know he'll do well with that!

Exactly what I said to DH last night.
Ooo, what a surprise that it was JD. I told DH when we watched the very first show that they would pick him.

Did you hear them ask Marty to open for them during their concert?

:cool1:

They better come to Pittsburgh, because I am so there!

This is a brilliant marketing ploy on the part of INXS! Many who preferred Marty to JD and would go see the concert if Marty was singing will still go to see Marty as the opening act. So they get the INXS fans, the JD fans and a good chunk of Marty's, too. Brilliant!

During "Easy Easy" I told my husband to close his eyes and just listen. Yep, sounded almost exactly like Michael Hutchence. Elvis impersonator = Michael Hutchence impersonater. Wise move on INXS's part to choose someone who could cover their old material to a T ....

IMHO, Mrs. MiG totally looked pizzed when they showed her in the balcony, not much of a supporting/loving look on that woman's face!

Oh, well .... I suspect DD will be wanting me to go to the next INXS concert with her (we did 2 when she was in high school!)

I too expected more out of the other contestants. I would have liked a "tell all" show like they do after Survivor. :rotfl2:

I totally agree! I can listen to my old INXS cd's if I want to listen to Michael Hutchence. I'm not interested in buying new cd's with an impersonator or pay $$ to watch him slapping his crotch in concert.

You would have thought that INXS would have wanted to move into this era of music instead of trying to rely on their old stuff. It was evident to me that they did not want to change their style, other wise they wouldn have chosen someone other than JD. I know he is talented but he just hits me wrong, I also knew the moment he started singing last night that he won. Marty for some reason was off last night and again he was doing the "mad conductor" thing. But he would have sent INXS into the next phase of their music instead of moving backwards.
All in all it was a great show, and I do hope it comes back, would love to buy a cd of the house band as well.
Was glad to see Brooke dressed as well..........and Dave sure was happy to see "Sweet Susie McNeil"!

I think they should have had contestants that are about 20 years older. These young guys just look silly with that old band.

Marty should just hook up with the house band. They sound and look better.

That's funny - I thought the same thing - once an impersonator, always an impersonator.

I was glad to see INXS offer Marty the opening spot when they tour - YAY Marty!!!

Good point, I hadn't even thought of that!

One thing about JD is he has the most controversy if you read the comments in his blog. It's next to impossible to wade through all of it.

At one point, didn't they say something about a Rockstar tour? For whatever reason I took it to mean they'd all be on tour, sort of like AI does with their contestants. Wouldn't that be a great concert?

I've really enjoyed chatting with you all on these boards. Thanks for the fun posts!

....what OTHER rock star tragically took his own life approximately ten years ago that the ailing band needs to replace????!?!?! (guess that EXCLUDES the Rolling Stones - the Roger Clemens of rock'n'roll!!!)

A lot of the singers were in their mid-30's. JD is 31. I appreciated that they didn't limit their search to the under 25 set (as AI does).

They all butchered a song or two during the competition. Sometimes you get a song that just doesn't fit your style or you try something a little different and it just doesn't work.

I have a feeling that Mig would not have been around near as long as he was if he had gotten into the bottom 3 a couple of times. I guess when you have a whole continent voting for you...

I really like Marty, but I think his style was a little too "dark" (for lack of a better term) for them. Regardless, he will have himself a nice career.

Well include me with the "older" fans that has not alienated the band already. Personally, I will wait until I hear their stuff before I make a decision.
