Did anyone here see Solaris?

Mandy and I went to see this last week and I am curious if anyone here liked it.

We didn't like it very much, in fact we almost left it the middle of it when it became apparent that the film was not going to pick up from its deathly dull pace. There was one 10 minute part of the movie that was slightly interesting, but that was only becuase my cell phone (which was turned off) fell out of my pocket and I spent 10 minutes on my hands and knees looking for it. Ordinarily I would of waited until the film was over, but there were only 3 other people in the theater and they were sitting quite a bit away from us (to be honest, they probably appreciated the diversion).

Its a pity, the film had a great deal of promise, but 90% of it consisted of either long drawn out shots of George Cloony looking confused and depressed or of long agruments between George and his dead wife. There was one scene where the dialog consisted of the following...

George: Are you OK?
Georges Dead Wife: I am OK.
George: Are you sure you OK?
Georges Dead Wife: Didn't I just tell you I'm OK

Repeat these 4 lines over and over for 3 minutes and you will get an idea of what passed for dialog in this movie. And don't get me start on the character that started every sentence with the word "Yeah". Yeah, that sure got old quickly.

Anyway, did anyone out there see something in this film that I did not? Perhaps we were just in a bad mood that day and missed all the good stuff.

I haven't seen it but, from what I have read, your review is about par for the course. I have yet to hear anyone say good things about this movie.

I wanted to see, because as far as I'm concerned, if a movie has George Clooney, it doesn't need a plot. Or dialogue. Actually, if it was just George wearing a black tee-shirt and reading a phone book (licking his fingers once every so often to turn the page), I'd be a happy camper.

But .. . when all the reviewers said the same thing ("Huh?") I thought twice about it. My attention span ain't what it used to be, even for Mr. Clooney.
