DH and I always stay at the BC, and we are strongly considering buying BCV through resale. We've never stayed DVC and now have 2 children that we haven't traveled with yet.

Have any of you bught DVC without staying in a Villa? We're a little nervous, but also don't want to waste money on another trip if we are going to buy.

Thanks!!

We didn't stay before we bought. We did walk over and look though, but just becase we were already in Disney. I didn't think it was that important, you don't have to stay at yor home resort and it's not feally feasible to stay at all the DVC's before buying.

I know many will disagree.

I think that you will find a surprisingly large number of DVC owners who bought "sight unseen", myself included. In our case, we bought directly from Disney and made a reservation for a trip that, had we decided NOT to buy, we had the option of paying cash for the vacation and cancelling the contract. I'm not sure if that is still an option (and most definitely not an option if purchasing a resale), but once we saw the accommodations, we were sure that we made the right decision.

Bought after the tour but had never stayed in a villa.

I'd never stayed at a DVC, never stayed at BC (we did walk past it once though) but bought a BCV resale.

Since buying, although we haven't stayed yet, we went over and had a good look around and got to see inside the rooms during a pre-planned trip and were glad we took the plunge and bought and had no regrets whatsoever of buying unseen. Now I can't wait until December and have to decide whether I want two weeks at BCV or just one and try somewhere else too.

HTH!

We bought without having stayed there first too. We took the tour a couple of times and really liked what we saw. We knew we'd be back regularly anyway, and the thought of more spacious accomodations really sold us on it. We're a family of 5, so space was a big thing for us, and since we'd been going to WDW annually anyway, it felt perfectly fine. And after we did eventually stay at AKV, we were quite happy with it.

Well, back when I bought there wasn't such a thing as on-line rental market where DVC members rented and thus the only real way to get a room at a DVC was through CRO and we had no desire to do that first at the seemingly high prices then. We bought at BWV without having stayed there though we had seen models. We added on two years ago at AKV without even having seen the models (except in photos on-line) but we had visited AKL before.

When we bought in 1998 we had never stayed at DVC. We were staying at the Double Tree on Hotel Plaza Boulevard when we heard about DVC and decided to take the tour. When we saw the rooms and all the amenities it had to offer we were sold!! Since we planned on going to WDW more than once a year we thought that paying monthly for our hotel stay would take a burden off the vacation budget. We never regretted!! it!! The kids are all older now and we are glad we have the option of getting a 2 bedroom so everyone has their own space!!!

We were staying at the GF on a rainy December day when we called and scheduled a tour of SSR. We bought that day, never having stayed at, or even considered staying at, a DVC resort. We love the lay out of the one bedrooms.

We viewed the models at the sales center before buying, but didn't stay in an actual villa until after the purchase.

Yes we brought BWV via resale without ever staying. However we did visit the area. What brought it home for us to buy here was having to wait for a bus to bring us back to CSR while we were soaking wet. My wife and I said wouldn't it be nice to walk back to our room.

Before we bought, we never stayed at a DVC resort. We never even toured a DVC resort before we bought our 1st contract resale (OKW).

No regrets either!

We joined while on our honeymoon in 2000. We were staying at the GF and had scheduled the DVC tour after my DH spoke to the cast member who was working at the DVC table located at the GF just outside the GF Cafe. We knew NOTHING about DVC. This was our first trip to WDW as adults. My husband found what the CM said interesting enough to book the tour. After touring BWV (that's where the DVC sales center was back then) we knew it was a good idea for us to join.

We bought after only seeing the models on a trip to the world last year.

We had not stayed at any DVC before buying in early 2000. We had stayed at most of the Disney resorts up to that time. We did our research and then planned a quick weekend trip down in early 2000. Told our guide we were 95% ready to sign so have the paperwork ready and to arrange a tour. We stayed at All Star Movies that trip which was fine but a big crowded for my taste (we have a king size bed at home). :) When we took the tour and I saw the one bedroom with the king size bed and jacuzzi tub I told the guide to pull out the paperwork - we were ready.

Our first trip home was December of 2000 and confirmed that we had made the right choice and DVC was a good fit for us!

Yes - had only stayed at the all stars went to a sales presentation at the BWV's - and purchased 300 VWL pts(2 150pt contracts) - then on our 1st trip home VWL not available, BWV not available, BCV, not available so reluctantly we stayed at OKW:rolleyes1 - And then guess what we did - THATS RIGHT - over 6 months purchased 2 OKW resales - WE LOVE OKW

But to answer the question

YES and after 4 people in a hotel room(small hotel room) it was easy:goodvibes
