I'm looking for suggestions for the best diapers for DD (almost 4 months). She is about 12 pounds (2 weeks ago she was 11.5) and about 22 inches. Her legs and belly are so chubby I have a hard time getting diapers to fit right on her. Size 2 huggies snug and dry seem way too small and leave little red marks on her legs. We also have size 2 Luvs which work a little better but still seem to barely fit. I'm going to try some size 3 Luvs since I already have them in the house.

Any suggestions for the best diapers for round babies?

Pampers cruisers. IMO they are the roomiest. I have big babies too!:goodvibes I also like 7th generation.

Another vote for Pampers cruisers. My babies were big, too. Also, the weight ranges of the sizes overlap. As a new mom I tended to go smaller. But when I took my child to daycare for the first time, they asked me to bring in a larger size, which worked much better and completely stopped leaks. So you may need to size-up.

I was just looking at the pampers website (I loved Pampers when she was a newborn, she was 6lbs 2oz at birth and in the newborn size for 2 months, I have all these luvs and huggies from my shower so I feel the need to use them). Cruisers start at a size 3, 16-28 pounds, that makes me think they are going to be huge :scared:

Just go up to the next size and donate the unused diapers, and don't worry about the numbers.

I babysit for a little girl who was wearing size 5 diapers at 12 months old.

We really like the Huggies little movers. My little guys is my chunker and they fit him great. (older ds fit into pampers cruisers the best). Every baby is different, sometimes you have to try a few brands to see what fits best. Check babycheapskate for diaper deals). I agree with PP, don't necessarily go by the weight. If the size 2's seem small, get the 3's. :)

Both of my boys were over 10lbs at birth. We tried different sizes and brands.I was able to get samples from the companies.Enjoy your beautiful baby they grow so fast:flower3:

Take them all to Wal-Mart and exchange the lot of them all at once. Write down what you have to trade in (brand, style, size) and then get the same brand/style in the next size up. That's what I did when I needed bigger sizes before I'd used up the smaller sizes I was given.

My boys were both big babies - I think I used 1 pack of size 1 diapers on my oldest before I had to move him to 2s. Both my boys were over 14 1/2 lbs at 8 weeks old (they were both over 8 1/2 lbs at birth).

If im not using cloth i use Target brand..they have been great for my big boy

My DS is 4.5 months. He wears size 2 diapers at 14lbs. The Huggies Little Snugglers are tight on him, but Pampers Swaddlers are definitely roomier. Luvs are in the middle.

There's a lot of trial and error with diapers. Huggies were terrible with my kid. Luvs were ok for a bit. He's been in Pampers for most of his life, because we can't get off brand here, but when we're in the States I LOVE the Target brand. They work as well as Pampers for about half the price.

Target brand worked well for my chubby guy, too.

But probably your best bet is sizing up. You can't really get "too big" because you just put them on more snug.

I would return them but they are all out of the packages. The girls that hosted my shower made huge diaper cakes as centerpieces :thumbsup2 and all these diapers are from the diaper cakes. As much as I hate to waste I already had to leave probably 100 or more size 1's and stick them away for baby #2 (who will hopefully be here sooner rather than later). I have about 2 weeks worth of size 2's left and some unopened packages that I can return for credit.

The size 3's that we have from the cakes are pampers, I just have to try to figure out what kind of pampers they are

My daughter was super chubby as an infant as well. We used the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitives until she was too big for them. I think they run to a size 3 now though.

DD was pretty much off the weight charts from the time she hit 2 months forward. She was huge. We used Pampers and never had any issues. A lady that owned a daycare told me that Pampers usually work best for girls and Huggies for boys. No matter what they say the weight is for the diaper size if stuff starts squishing out of the top in the back, it is time to go up a size.

My daughter had this happen, to many small size, and he was potty trained before he needed the really large ones, so she took what she could back, and exchanged, and for the larger ones, they just gave her a store credit. Between Wal-mart and Target... and a couple of boxes from the big box stores...
