DHS with a toddler? Entertainment options?

We've got park reservations for DHS in November for 4 adults and our nearly-2-year-old grandson. None of us have had a chance yet to do anything in the Toy Story area nor in the Star Wars area nor ride the new MMRR attraction. So given the reduced crowds and no FP+ hassles, DHS is really appealing to us adults. BUT, how much is there, really, to entertain our little grandbaby? Going from one Baby Swap situation to another is not really our idea of fun. Too bad we can't park hop. Any suggestions?

I read this news article last month indicating that we may see some movement soon toward resuming live entertainment, halted in part due to labor disputes. Anyone have more info on this?

Should we opt for a different park? Thoughts & ideas welcome! TIA! :)

We took our DD when she was 19 months old. We found that she was happy anywhere. The parks are so amazing in their little details. She loves walking around and looking at everything. And she really enjoyed the shows. We did Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast, the Frozen Sign along, and many of the rides. I will admit that she slept great in her stroller, and we would take turns on the high powered rides while she did so. The single rider lines helped a lot here, making the waits reasonable for the one with the toddler. It was a much different trip then we had ever done, but if you take it in your stride, and try to view the parks through the childs eyes, it can be really wonderful. Just know, and expect, that there will be melt downs (Sensory overload), and everything will work out. Of course, all of this depends on the personality of the little one and the adults as well!

Good luck, and hope you have a great trip.

I have a one and three year old and they love Disney Jr dance party. It’s always the highlight of their HS park days. They get to wiggle out some energy and my husband and I enjoy the ac. They also love the Muppets show. We always find some reason to take them on the Skyliner too.

As far as attractions Disney jr dance party, Mickey Minnie Runaway Railway, Mickey shorts theater, lighting McQueen racing academy and muppet vision 3d. There are also 3 character cavalcades, not sure how tall but tsm might be fun and just walking around tsland could be entertaining

Disney Junior dance party is being offered again?

yes they modified the show so it's without the equity actors, just music a DJ and the characters
Thanks for the info! I was concerned about this as my daughter loved it and now we have a one-year-old who loves the Disney Jr. characters. I'm totally fine not having the "real people" as part of the show. Anyone know how these might be for a one-year-old: Mickey Minnie Runaway Railway, Mickey shorts theater, Lighting McQueen racing academy and muppet vision 3D?

We took our 10 month old on MMRR last week and I'm not sure he enjoyed it :rotfl: It's jerky, and quick, so he was probably just overwhelmed by everything flying past him. He did not cry, though (Figment scared him the week before and he burst into tears!). Just a tad clingy.

We also did TSMM and he was fine on that.

We are avoiding most indoor shows (where people are in the same area for more than 10 minutes) so we did not do Muppets, Playhouse Disney, Racing Academy, etc yet.

I agree there isn't a whole lot for the under 2 set but we tend to stay at HS only a few hours anyways so he was content to people watch, snack, wander shops, and do his 2 rides.

We did Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast, the Frozen Sign along...

Unfortunately, these are precisely what I think he'd enjoy but they're closed. :sad2: But thank you for your reply.

We'll have to think about these. If everyone is wearing masks, I think we'd all be comfortable enough to participate. Little guy is starting to get used to wearing a mask to stores and keeping it on, even though he's young enough that it's not yet required anywhere. If by November, we're pretty sure that he'd keep it on while indoors, we'll probably try it. :) Thanks for your reply.

I didn't know about the dance party being an option or the cavalcades. So thank you both, for those! :flower3:

How do you know when to watch for the 3 character motorcades? The DW website says there are 3 different sets of characters but I don't see when they are out. ???

How do you know where and when to see the 3 character cavalcades? Are they the same or do they have different characters & music?
The cavalcades are not on a schedule but you will see one at least through out the day. There's a Mickey and friend, Pixar one and Disney jr one

is this taking place in the old "disney jr live on stage" indoor area? or outside somewhere?

My son was almost 2 and 1/2 back in March for our trip. He enjoyed the alien swirling saucers and Mickey and minnies runaway railway. He was fine on the 3D toy story one with the targets but wasn’t great with keeping the glasses on. He loved riding the Skyliner and was pretty content to be in his stroller looking around. We also had a cooler with snacks/drinks with us. I thought he would like the cars show but it didn’t keep his attention for long. The only show we did was frozen ever after and he sat through the whole thing. He loved looking around in galaxys edge and the storm troopers/Chewbacca were a big hit!

Thank you Leah. :)
On Disney's website, it looks like Rider Switch (baby swap) is available for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, but there's no mention of it for Rise of the Resistance. Any ideas?

You could probably do AS2 as well in TSL
