DH drives me crazy! No pun intended!

we are flying from Nj because we have always driven and when we were there 2 years ago I agreed to by a darn timeshare off site only if we started flying{dh has to do all driving}I sit and hold my breath the whole way :sad2: {hate that rain,hate the trucks,need zanax lol}have 3 kids and they get on my damn nerves :crazy: which again I need that zanax that I keep with me but never seem to take cause afraid of how it will make me feel{ok a little anxiety here}

needless to say this would be our 1st year in our timeshare and what did we do????booked a trip at POR because.....yes you guessed free food!!!!so my dh tried to pull a fast one and say we have to drive,I said nope then put me in the timeshare and pay for all my food{piggy I am}my tickets and a rent a car...and see what is cheeper!!!you guessed it POR and Southwest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!okay pooh I get to see you quicker..... :banana:

We drove on our 2003 trip from Massachusetts, staying overnight in North Carolina. We had a good time but both kids have said, never again. DH keeps trying to convince them to drive on our next trip (whenver that will be!) but they said that they will meet him at the airport. I agree with the kids. The one driving trip was interesting and a good family time (older DS had his license and drove some of the way), but I like getting to Orlando in a little over 3 hours and starting my vacation. However, the way airline tickets are going up, driving may end up being alot cheaper.

We fly. To be fair there is only my husband and me at the moment. However, I won't drive, and he tends to have back problems so can't drive more then about 8 hours a day. This means we have to add a day at both ends of our trip, because we have to stop at a hotel. Which means it is actually cheaper for us to fly when you factor in hotel costs, gas and wear and tear on the car.

Also, as a kid we did long car ride quite often (being one of 4 kids) and they got old fast. Sure it was fun for the first couple of hours, but after about 3 hours it gets boring fast, and who wants to be stuck in a car for 14+ hours when you can fly and be where you are going in under 5 hours (including getting to the airport early and getting lugage).

Honestly I find it doubtful we will ever drive to Disney, heck our one big driving trip a year is to Atlanta for Thanksgiving and that is only because we bring the dog with us, if we left him at home we'd fly then too (if we left him at home my mom would be disapointed though so he gets to come to Thanksgiving with us).

We will most likely be flying if I can get flights on SW in my budget ($400 or so). Otherwise, we will drive. We have always driven (11 hours each way) and we always break it up half way in Tallahassee on the way down. The way back we drive straight thru. Last time the drive down was okay except for construction in Pensacola which we hit at night and it was really scary driving through there. Then on the way back, this was March, 2005 so everyone was driving back from Springbreak on a Saturday. It was so crowded and took us 3 more hours driving back than it did driving down. I thought I would never see home again. That is why we are flying this time. That and it is cheaper for 2 to fly than to drive.

Now, my trip after that, in 2009 (Hi. My name is Jaymie and I am an obsessive planner) with DB, DSIL and 2 nephews who will be 5 and 7, we will be driving due to the cost. Unless gas gets even more outrageous and SW gets even cheaper, we will be driving but with 3 drivers it won't be so bad. Mainly, it comes down to cost.
