Well put. Never heard of or had either spicy or sweet deviled eggs, and I have eaten a LOT of deviled eggs in my time.Savory, not spicy. Mayo, mustard, S&P, a little pickle juice and some dill pickles chopped finely.
We use mayo, a splash of worcestershire, yellow mustard and crushed cheez-its. Wouldn't be a major holiday without them.
I can't imagine sweet deviled eggs.
Not necessarily hot, but deviling refers to spice, more often or not from dry mustard.I argue that these are not deviled eggs because the name "deviled eggs" comes from the fact that the eggs are hot like Hades.
Bacon is always good.I do savory and sweet, the egg filling savory and then I add candied bacon on the top. To candy bacon half way through cooking in the oven put some brown sugar on top and it will caramelize.
I just throw some Cheez-its in a bag and bash it with a rolling pin. You don't want Cheez-it dust, just smallish pieces. Then fold it into the egg mixture. We all love it. Been making them this way for at least 30 years.TELL ME MORE - do you do like crumbs of Cheezits or like bigger chunks of broken ones? We are a Cheezit loving family and I wanna try this! Just hardboiled up 19 eggs last night, so going to attempt with dinner tonight!!
I'd have to say "sweet". I use sweet pickles (sometimes just use sweet relish if I don't have time to chop pickles), tiny bit of onion, miracle whip, and a bit of yellow mustard in my deviled eggs. So, deviled eggs.. spicy or sweet?
