I was wondering if there is some device in which you can install or buy to put on a computer where you can see what sites your loved ones visit without them knowing. I have a serious concern and I need to know what is going on one way or another. Anyone know of any such device?

Thanks!

Hmmm...checking the 'History' isn't enough? (Under 'Tools' ->'Internet Options'...)

You could use one of the "net nanny" type filters if you are concerned about your child looking at inappropriate websites. ::yes::

I might be overstepping my bounds here, and if I do please accept my appologies, but what ever happened to HONESTY?

If someone in my house was thought to be surfing inappropriatly, (though Im not sure if you mean a child or adult..)...I would confront them with the issue at hand, and allow for an explination..

I'm sorry I cant be of help with tracking, however thats a road I will not go down, I've always thought that an open honest relationship was best, and if you/we cant be that way, then something else is wrong

unfortunately, the sort of person who you would be concerned about something like this is the sort who will lie and be good at it. This goes for a dishonest person and someone with a problem/addiction. And they are also better then an average person at covering their tracks. I would say you should get a professional, and I know there are ways to do this as my brother does programming and he monitors his kids web usage.

The Snitch program searches your hard drive for all those little things that are hidden after visiting certain sites. This might be what you are looking for. Someone who is cleaning out the history each time is definitely covering tracks. They may already know how to detect and delete the hidden files on the hard drive, too, but this is less common.

If it's an adult with an obsession, sadly, denial very often trumps honesty in these situations.

I don't think its a kid the op is worried about. There is software out there, don't know the name, that will save every key stroke, page, etc. and claims to be hidden. i also think it allows monitoring from a remote site, without notification on the host computer. i don't know the name though. sorry

Thanks for the responses and especially the link. I will definately check that out.

Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, this person will and has denied any wrong doing. We have suspected this for a while but we just cannot prove it. We've even had our last computers' hard drive "hacked" into but he obviously does know how to cover his tracks (and well).

Thanks again!

:D

You can reset the history device to any number of days. If you set it to 2 days or 3 days, it wouldn't erase each visit.

Software to track where a person goes on the net. It also keeps track of everything thing you type (IM, chat room, etc) and everything typed to you in return.

A friend of mine bought this and it worked wonderfully for the situation they had. It tracks everything.

Wow, I really like that one Lanshark. Do you have any personal experience with this one?

Edit: Opps, I saw that you do have personal experience with this one. Thanks again.

Thanks!
