"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

We were very flattered that she wanted to get married on our anniversary. Their 1st anniversary will be on our 25th! :)

That's pretty cool! :goodvibes

No I'm not ready. I must be honest and admit I've had a lot of tears at the thought of her moving across the country. I just remind myself that this isn't about me. As her mom, and best friend, her happiness means everything to me and Andrew makes her happier than I've ever seen her. So I can't help but be happy for her. It will be an adjustment but we'll find a way. Instead of 2 Disney trips a year we'll do one and go see them as our other. They'll come home every Christmas and during the summer and we'll skype daily. It won't be the same but it will become our new normal.

*gulp*

I just don't even know what to say, but you're right, you'll find a way.

And then talking about your memories of Caitlin.

*double gulp*

I can't see your pics now, but I am positive you had an awesome evening in MK. It sounds perfect.

And yeah :cool1: for 14 days until your next adventure. REfresh my memory - Yacht Club (so jealous) then SSR? I forget. :confused3

Congratulations on the engagement, Caitlin!!! I've been following your TR the entire time but haven't posted too much:headache:; but I had to pop in congratulate you on the big news! I just married my husband a week and a half ago and had a Disneymoon! It was the best day of my life and week of my life! Good luck planning..have fun with it!!:lovestruc

Congratulations to you too! :goodvibes

Yes it is. It will be quite the "circle of life" moment when he dad walks her down the same aisle my dad walked me down 24 years earlier!

I guess it's pretty clear by my posts that things are pretty emotional around here lately :rotfl:

We did have a great last night at the MK. :)

Our resort plans are crazy! We switched and switched until we ended up renting points at SSR. Well then Dale said "just because Cait can only go for a long weekend doesn't mean we have to" So we added 2 nights to the beginning of our trip at YC-CL. Then Cait was jealous so we added a night at the end at BC-CL. It might be a little crazy but I'm looking forward to it!

I forgot you guys were there for One More Disney Day! Can't wait to hear all about that! I have missed out on the parade at AK every year! We always plan to see it but run out of things to do for a few hours. I may need to just head over in the afternoon because the pictures really pique my interest!

I would have gone with the apple turnover too!! :thumbsup2 That looked really good!

Thank you :) Senior year of highschool is so hard for moms! I cried so much that year! Her last "first day", last Homecoming, etc even though she was going to live at home and commute the thought of her growing up was so hard!

Right now we are so busy with vacation coming and the wedding that I am trying to stay in the present and not think about the move too much. I also feel like I have time to prepare so I'm making sure we make the most of our time so there are no regrets. All that said, I know that I will probably cry for weeks after she leaves :sad1:

This brought tears to my eyes just thinking about it! I started crying at the senior ceremony at church this past spring when they showed the baby pictures. Keith asked why and I told him Madison would be there in two years. He rolled his eyes and I told him to just get ready!! I do a lot (like you) making the most of every minute!

Thank you!

I am excited but nervous about the move. I am not looking forward to the humidity because my hair does work well under those conditions :rotfl: Plus the hurricane aspect is a bit intimidating too. It will also be completely different from Michigan so it will be an adjustment!

Thank you I can't wait to take more pics soon!

Maybe I have lived here my whole life and feel this way, but honestly hurricanes are nothing (for the most part)! Every once in a blue moon we get one that is tough or like a few weeks ago one causes flooding but I am always more concerned about tornados! Those things scare me!!

Lovely humidity....ahhhhhhh. Two pieces of advice: good hair products and AIR CONDITIONING!!! :lmao: I just realized you will be moving in just as we begin welcoming our 10 month humidity stay! :headache:

Yes we were :)
I think the parade should be earlier. Sometimes it can be hard to be there from rope drop til the parade starts at 3pm. On this trip though we were having so much fun the day flew by! It is a very cool parade. I think you'd enjoy it!

It was yummy!

Thank you! Congrats to you as well! We will be having our Disneymoon in June!

CONGRATULATIONS, Caitlin!!!

I am glad hurricanes aren't that big of a deal! It's just something I have never encountered before. Tornados don't sound like fun either!

I will be picking up good products before I go :rotfl: Yep I am so lucky

:headache:

Yay - COngratulations Caitlin! It's hard enough for me to see the news on FB and not say anything when I post here, I don't know how you gals do it. Then again, I haven't been posting lately, so that makes it easier.

I can't wait to hear all about One More Disney Day! I forgot that you were there for that.

I am so sad that they are getting rid of Magic, Memories and You. I love that show. I hope they replace it with something similar. It ranks right up there with Wishes for me.

I was wondering where you were going to live too, and then got all sad reading the posts. I moved 8 hours (by car) away from my family for college and you are right, Dawn. It'll be hard at first, but things will change and you will find your new normal. I still talk to my parents on a daily basis and we Skype often so they can see my little girl. It's been harder since we had her, because I miss them even more, but what can you do? Your post on your growing up thoughts while watching Wishes had me in tears. I think of things like that already with DD and can't even imagine what it will be like years from now. I love that you two are so close and aspire to have a relationship like that with my little girl. :goodvibes

Well, try new resorts is half the adventure, right? I love the variety of different resorts and I would love to stay club level at some point in my life. I don't think I can talk Denny into that now that we have DVC. Too bad. :(

Congratulations on your engagement! And moving to Louisiana!!! Its not So bad living here...I promise. The heat gets pretty bad but our winters are pretty mild.

Thank you! I am sure I will end up being able to survive :rotfl: it's just soo different from MI!

It's a little tough since we aren't the best secret keepers :rotfl:

It isn't ending they are just revamping it for the opening of New Fantasyland. I love it too!

I'm so glad to hear you've been able to stay close with your parents despite the miles that separate you! However, when they have a little one as precious as yours I want them home :)

Exactly! I feel the more resorts I've tried the more knowledge I have to share with my clients :)

Club level is new for us. I'm not sure if it will be worth the extra $ but I'm looking forward to finding out ;)

Guess what today is?????

SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!!

Anyone care to single digit dance? :dancer::dancer:

Yep, just 9 more days and Dale and I will be checking into the Yacht Club :)
Our flight is at 6am and we arrive in Orlando about 10am (we couldnt get a direct flight ) We'll pick up our rental car from Alamo (only $108 for the week!) and drive the YC. After check-in we'll head over to the Poly for lunch at Kona. Then back to the YC for a swim in Stormalong Bay before we head over to the MK for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party :)

Can ya tell I'm a little excited :upsidedow

SINGLE DIGITS!!:dance3:

Such a wonderful feeling when you get down to single digit days for a Disney countdown!!!!:cool1:

Yay for single digits....one of my favourite things! Wish we could dance down Main Street USA with you, but this will have to do!!
:cool1::yay:party:

This is it. This will be the last post concluding our February trip adventures. I know you're probably sobbing and screaming "WHY?!" but worry not ye faithful reader! We will back with tales from a brand new trip in two weeks time :thumbsup2 It's nice how we do that isn't it? We finish up one right before it's time to go on another trip and write a brand new TR. We wouldn't want you going through Dawn and Caitlin withdrawal :thumbsup2

So here it is the beginning of the end....

We woke up early this morning because it was Leap Day and Disney was having the One More Disney Day promotion. By early I mean 4 am. Yes we were at the end of our vacation, tired, legs and feet sore and me sick but we made it. We knew this would be a special opportunity and had to seize the day! At 5 we were at the bus stop and it was already busy! It's nice to know so many people share a love of Disney that it ends up in sleep deprivation. That is what I call dedication because I personally love me some sleep!

When we made it to the Magic Kingdom the park was already packed! Tons of anxiously awaiting park guests, camera crews and news crews were set up all over the place! Don't believe me?

disneyday7001.jpg

Yep like they were taping the Christmas parade or something! We heard people talking all around us about how they had just flown in for the day or driven in for the day. I am sorry I don't know if that would necessarily be worth it :confused3 You just get a few more hours at Disney and it wasn't like these people were from close by!

Before the Opening Ceremony began Mickey and Minnie came out in their pajamas to talk to the news reporters. Well not necessarily talk but probably mime how crazy we all were and that they were headed right back to bed after this.

disneyday7019.jpg

Pretty adorable right?!

At some point they began giving out the special pins

disneyday7020.jpg

disneyday7021.jpg

Shortly after we were being welcomed by the Mayor of Main Street USA. (who wouldn't want that title?!)

disneyday7041.jpg

disneyday7046.jpg

It was odd watching the Opening show in darkness :rotfl:

After the park opened we rushed in and headed straight to the Emporium. Let me tell you it was like Walmart on Black Friday! Tourists flocking the entire area pushing and shoving to get their hands on a t shirt to commemorate the day. CMs cowering in fear throwing the t shirts at them yelling "SPARE US PLEASE!!!!" It was chaos. Thankfully, I am the size of an adolescent child and was able to squeeze between people, get the shirts we wanted and head back to mom who was waiting in line. We got out fairly quickly and didn't have to witness any more blood shed.

Once we were safely away we decided to get a picture.

Photo0746FourBySix.jpg

We look pretty cute for being up at 4 am huh?

So the park is open...it's 6 am...where do you head?

If you said Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin you would be correct! We always like to wake up with a healthy dose of competitiveness so we hurried over there and took a spin.

Now I am going to preface this with the fact it was ridiculously early because we may have made some odd choices in rides today... After Buzz we decided on Monsters Inc Laugh Floor.

We hadn't been this trip and who doesn't love that show?! We had a great group and were picked to hear our national anthem sung by Sam n Ella. Yep if you didn't know the Eiffel Tower is totally in Michigan :thumbsup2

Next up on odd choices for rides was Stitch. I know right?! You're probably thinking to yourself "you get a few extra hours at Disney and this is how you spend them?!" Honestly ever since they got rid of the burp smell I have been a pretty big Stitch fan. I am a huge fan of anything campy or kitschy and this is right up my alley!

So I bet you're wondering if we decided to make better decisions now? Well if you believe Carousel of Progress is the bee knees then you would be right! Yep we headed to COP. The sun was out by this point but due to the abundance of fog I wouldn't have been able to get any sunrise over the Magic Kingdom pics :sad2: So when you can't take pics ya go to COP.

Now that we had ridden the best rides in the park it was time to head to Crystal Palace for breakfast!

disneyday7051.jpg

This place usually has good food and didn't disappoint! I am not going to post many pics of us with the characters though because I am pretty sure we look like we are about to die of exhaustion.

I will post this one though

disneyday7053.jpg

I had on my Red Wings shirt (not only because they can be an awesome hockey team minus this year's playoffs) but because they have a fan of the day. The fan of the day gets their picture posted on Facebook and Twitter and it is usually a person wearing Red Wing paraphenalia somewhere around the world. I of course had to take a pic in Disney and this pic won me fan of the day!

After getting one last birthday cupcake

disneyday7055.jpg

We were about to leave...but the Crystal Palace was attacked by a PIRATE!

disneyday7062.jpg

He stole all the puffed french toast, grabbed Eeyore's tale and took hostage of a red haired lady while yelling "We wants the redhead!" Tigger took the initiative and ended up in a well choreographed sword fight with him.

Just kidding this was just some crazy guy dressed like a pirate.

disneyday7061.jpg

Our adventure or a breakfast completed we headed to the Haunted Mansion. On our way we ran in to some dancing fools!

disneyday7066.jpg

disneyday7067.jpg

disneyday7068.jpg

disneyday7069.jpg

Who knew bears and bunnies liked to boogie?!

disneyday7072.jpg

disneyday7073.jpg

Now you have to admit the Haunted Mansion was a good ride choice!

disneyday7077.jpg

Our good choice list continued on with a final attraction....Philharmagic! Nothing makes saying goodbye to Disney okay like watching your favorite characters singing your favorite songs!

It was now time to say goodbye to all our company....But not before I picked up a couple smores bars to go! On our way there we ran into more singing and dancing!

disneyday7082.jpg

disneyday7083.jpg

disneyday7085.jpg

You need to try the smore bars they are little pieces of heaven! Just the right mixture of graham cracker, marshmellow and chocolate! I ended up buying two but after having my dog eat one... I only ended up enjoying one :sad2: Here are some pictures of all the other goodies too!

disneyday7086.jpg

disneyday7094.jpg

We headed out and got a bus back to POP.

disneyday7095.jpg

disneyday7097.jpg

We packed up and waited to be picked up by the Magical "I am going to make you cry so hard with the movie I am going to show you" Express. We sobbed our way to the airport and after security check in grabbed some McDonalds. I don't know what it is about McDonalds that makes going home from Disney okay but it works! We always get McDonalds on our last day. We usually wait till we get home but we needed lunch before the plane.

We boarded our plane and took off. That's when it happened major turbulence and the pilot veered suddenly off course. Somehow we ended up over the water and we were going down as if being pulled by some magnetic force. Everyone was crying and screaming and no one knew what would happen. Luckily we crash landed on an island and have been living happily here ever since.

Really? I just thought saying oh we made it home safe was a bit redundant. I don't think ghosts write TRs. It was actually a boring flight. Mom bought some internet time and I worked on going through all of my pictures. We got home and headed back to our regular lives.

So that's it! It was a fun trip and it was nice to have one just the two of us. I am thankful to all of you for following along and commenting! I am sorry it wasn't more drama filled but we had a good trip and that's what matters. I am sure we will post some trip plans for next weeks trip so keep an eye out for those! Also keep an eye out for the next trip report! I can promise you, you won't want to miss it ;)
