Hey

I have scheduled a dessert party as our "welcome party" for our wedding in Nov. Do any of you have pictures or menus of the food displays. And did you/ do you plan to serve alcohol.

Welcome to the Dis! And congrats on your upcoming wedding.

On the night before my custom vow renewal, my Event Manger put together a darling Welcome / Dessert Party for my guests. I have photos of it in an on-line album. Click here for the photos or click here for the slideshow.

There were all sorts of scrumptious dishes served at my party, as well as a fully-stocked bar. I also had a custom decorating package that included a special ice sculpture that sat in a bed of dry-ice, a few custom-carved pumpkins that were scattered about (including one that contained an image of my husband & myself), and Wait Staff who were attired in special outfits (including full face makeup).

As you might have figured out by now, my Event Manager was a creative genius who tailored that party specifically for my husband & me (he knew that Halloween was my favorite day of the year, he knew that Rick & I had met on Halloween, and he knew that Rick had proposed to me on Halloween). If you have the budget, Disney can pull just about anything off. Their imagination knows no bounds.

You didn’t mention where your party is going to be held, but you should be able to tailor its menu and also add alcohol to it. Definitely discuss this with your Event Manager to see what can and cannot be done.

Have fun planning!

Thank you for the welcome and the pictures! You had a kick butt party :) . I am amazed at how customized it was. I think that might be a little out of my price range tho. I really didn't want to spend more than $30. something per person. My planner sent me the 3 basic dessert menus but it doesn't have the price off add on stuff or the bar prices! Do you reacall any of it? Thank you again for sharing !!!!

I posted this in another thread but thought I'd re-post it here. It should give you a taste of what your beverage pricing might be like.

Note: This was for pricing in October of 2004. Please ask Disney what their current pricing is.

My husband and I hosted a Welcome / Dessert Party at the Grand Floridian on the evening before our vow renewal last year. I recently shared a little information regarding that event (click here). If you read my thread, you’ll find a description of my event as well as links to photos of it. It was a lovely party and everyone had a wonderful time.

There was a bartender and bar at my event. Here are some of the items that I was charged for in regards to beverages:

=======
Fee, Bartender
$100
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$127.80

Hosted, Assorted Sodas
$2.75 each
13 glasses = $35.75
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$45.69

Hosted, Bottled Water
$3.50 each
3 bottles = $10.50
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$13.42

Hosted, Premium Cocktails
$5.75 each
10 glasses = $57.50
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$73.49

Hosted, Premium Cabernet Sauvignon
$6.25 each
5 glasses = $31.25
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$39.94

Hosted, Premium Chardonnay
$6.25 each
5 glasses = $31.25
Plus Gratuity (20%) and Sales Tax (6.5%)
$39.94

Total Beverage Bill: $340.28
=======

My guest list was small and thus my beverage bill was very reasonable. Plus, my guests didn’t really drink that much that evening since everyone was too busy chitchatting and enjoying the gorgeous moonlight. It was a very laidback and relaxing party. Perfect, absolutely perfect.

I should note that there were approximately 30 people at my Welcome Party. The charges that I stated above are what showed up on my final bill (the bill that I received after my custom vow renewal was over).

I hope that helped.

Twojo21 - Just wondering how many people were at your dessert party? (We are thinking about doing an illuminations one, with the chocolate fondue!)

Thanks,
--Heather

We wanted to do a dessert party during illuminations, and what we decided to do is combine that with the rehearsal dinner. So we're having our rehearsal dinner & dessert party in Italy. We are not serving alcohol. It's going to be an early morning for most of the people int he wedding party, and since they are drinkers I didn't want to encourage them getting drunk. if the alcohol is there and it's free they will drink. if they ahve to buy it they won't. So i saved money and i ensure that people will show up sober at my wedding ;-)
