Has anyone had a dessert party in July? My dad thinks it will be to hot for the guest. Some of my guest are afraid of the heat. I really want to have one for my rehearsal dinner. Does anyone know if we can rent fans or have some umbrellas put up? Also has any one had food other then dessert for illuminations party? If so what did u have?

I can't say if it's too hot or not, but we're having one in August which should be even hotter!

We've gone in June before and while it was sometimes unbearably hot during the day, it was much better at night. It really makes a difference when the sun is not beating down on you. They should be fine being outside for an hour.

I know you can have appetizers instead of dessert, some people have done a cocktail hour there instead. If it's for a rehearsal dinner you can do a whole meal, has to be buffet, but there are a variety of menu's.

I'm not sure if you could get fans or umbrellas put up, I would think not and I haven't heard of anyone doing that, but you could check with your planner.

I agree that the sun being down helps a lot with the heat. I think with the exception of very old guests, people will be able to handle it. Maybe you can arrange to have the food/party part inside the AAR or AAP and then you guys move outside just for the fireworks?

We just had our DP at the end of July! It was hot, but nowhere near as hot as the daytime. We also told our guests not to bother with formal wear, and everyone was comfortable in shorts etc. My DH and I showed up at about 7:30, and it was still very warm. But, once the sun was completely down the temperature was quite nice.

The main thing I would worry about over heat is rain! There are thunderstorms almost every day in late July right around DP time! Ours was outside, but it would have been rained out if it had been any other day of that week. Epcot has indoor backup locations, and although you can request which one you'd like, it is Epcot's final decision as to where you will be. I hadn't really thought of that while planning, so I thought I'd point that out to you! HTH! :goodvibes

We had one this past July. Ours got moved indoors due to the thunderstorms since in the south it does rain like every evening that is the biggest issue!! We did ours at Sago Cay Pointe so we were inside the Whitehall room and then for the fireworks since of course it didn't rain for like 2 hours prior to the party, we walked outside to view!! I didn't think the heat was that bad but I do live down here too!! I guess it all depends on where you are looking to have the DP at is what will make all the difference. You could always do like we did but on purpose..! :lmao:

we went to the new desert party in june at the MK. And while yes it was hot and humid, it wasnt as bad as day time. Once we got settled, and desert and the fireworks begin you forget you so hot.
Plus, so what if its hot, what else are people going to do- stay in their rooms?? I dont think they will mind as long as they can get out of the formal wear and into something a little more comfortable.
