Dentures?

My mom does not have dental insurance and must have all of her teeth pulled. She went to a dentist and was told it would cost about $3500. I've never shopped for dentures, so I'm not sure if this is the correct amount. With that being said, is there a way for her to reduce costs? TIA

We have a few dentists here that operate on a sliding fee scale based on income. Maybe she can find one of those kind?

If you have a dental school nearby, they may be able to do it. My brother went to the local dental school and had all his teeth pulled (they had deteriorated due to a medication so it was not an easy job) and had them make his dentures. It was much cheaper than a regular dentist. They did a good job.

My sister just had upper dentures made along with 9 teeth pulled and it cost her $1800 I think, so that seems about right.

That sounds about right. I'm in Ohio and dentures will cost around $2000-2500. Extractions and anesthesia more. You can get "budget" dentures at some of these dental factory type places, but they aren't something you would want. Not all dental schools do the dentures, but if you have one nearby check it out. Another option is a dentist that accepts CareCredit (charge) the dentist basically pays the interest so it is more affordable, you pay a small interest free amount and it can only be used for medical, dental, vets, etc.

I'm paying $2700 for a full set of replacement dentures. I have no insurance, but husband's dentist gave me a family discount. Lost my teeth at an early age due to medications when I was a very sick child and my adult dentures are hard to fit. I'm pleased with the way the fittings are going. The dentist is accepting monthly payments until I get the final set.
