For our very first time to WDW in 2000, we stayed at ASSports, which we enjoyed. Since then, we've only stayed at the deluxe resorts. But now that Pop century is opening, and it sounds so cool, I really want to stay there! It would cost a bundle less, too!

I'm wondering how many regular deluxe-resorters are considering or would consider dropping their usual level of luxury to give Pop century a try?

Me!!:D    I like new resorts where everything is shiny and the smell of new carpets is wonderful!!!
It looks fun and is close to MGM which is cooool:smooth:

I think I might too :p I read Tyler's review and it sounds great... I'm thinking of at least splitting a stay there next April/May.

We are staying at the AKL with a come-back rate code in Sept post-cruise. We are coming back for NYE and will be staying at Pop Century. We are paying rack rate for POP $127.68 with tax, and discount rate for AKL $133.13. We love staying at Deluxe, but we also wanted to try the new Pop Century and there are no discounts during our stay. We have stayed at the All Stars may times.

I just switched our first night to the Pop Century. We always stay off property for the first night, but with the review that Tyler has given, it made we want to try it out. We love the WL and will move over there on Sunday afternoon!!

I'm sure I'll stay there just to get pictures. :)

Yep, we will as well...

We have stayed at All Stars, and Wilderness Lodge....and Pop Century would fit our needs.

We love the idea of being close to MGM!

We drop from a deluxe to do the all stars all the time. We use it for quick trips...I would try pop century..no problem at all!

I'll be trying it. I've always wanted to try a resort when it's brand new, so this is my chance. We decided to add a night on to our honeymoon, and we got an AP rate at Pop Century. We will be staying at the GF RPC and the BWI concierge for the majority of our honeymoon, so it will be different, but I think it will be fun. My 1st on-site stay was actually at ASMu in 1998, and I thought it was very fun. Since then I have stayed at only deluxe resorts, but I'm looking forward to seeing Pop Century. :)

Pop Century is going to be a swingin' resort when it opens. I think the one thing that's really going to capture people about it is the memories that it will stir up. In fact, the resorts catch phrase is, "Remember when..."

When you first walk into the main lobby check in area, the first thing you see is a wall adorned with glass cases. Inside these cases, you'll find all sorts of memorabilia from the different years. The wall stretches from the 50's to the 90's. There are so many things in there that I know will stir up memories for everyone. I can just imagine a common phrase heard will be "I had one of those!!" Inspect the cases closely, and you'll find a few Hidden Mickeys!

On the opposite side of the wall, and behind the check in desk, are enlarged photos from the past, depicting your typical family pictures. There's one picture that really stood out for me. It's of a small boy, right up close to the TV set. On the TV, you can see footage of the first man on the moon. By the way, all the photos are real. They come from personal collections of cast members, and most of them feature cast members themselves.

When you exit Classic Hall out the back, it's like stepping into a far out world. When exiting, you'll exit out to a veranda overlooking the Hippy Dippy Pool, and the 60's section. There are a few steps down, with chrome Mickey railings, and some foliage that really add to the atmosphere. Behind some of the shrubbery is Petals Pool Bar, and the flower shaped pool. Just beyond that is the Kiddie Pool. On both sides of the pool, are the brightly colored 60's buildings. In any other setting, they might appear tacky, but somehow, they seem to really fit right in. Large Play-Doh icons adorn one side, and the Jungle Book is on the other.

I wish I had more time to explore, as well as my camera. I was only there for about an hour or so, far too short of a time.

Pop Century will be what you make of it. It's a value resort, so it won't have the amenities that you'll find at a Deluxe. Nor will the rooms be as spacious. BUT... if we've done our job, you'll be remembering when. :)

I would try it, sure why not! I can't wait for the reviews to come in after it opens, it sounds like fun!

Hello everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've personally been to all the resorts, except AKL & POP. I'm taking my wife to all the resorts as we enjoy our life together. Her first trip was for here birthday(4-20-02----WL). Our wedding @Sunset Pointe(10-29-02----GF Concierge). And now our anniversary trip(12-10-----AKL). We are expecting our first child in February, so NOW we will be 3 disney world lovers. And our first trip will be in September/October time frame & plan on POP Century to finish my stay at all resorts.

Have a Disney Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Count me out!! lol :)
I find this resort to be an eyesore!! I think that hotel looks like what Walt would of hated! He bought all this land in Fl because he hated the neon and tacky hotels you could see from DL!
This is just my opinion!! :)

My sister and I will probably stay at Pop C. in March. We have also used the value resorts for 1 or 2 nights before our DVC stay.

Actually, Walt would be proud. He really would. Give Pop Century is chance. It's not the eyesore you think it to be.

Chip'n Dale express, I was just there and I saw it and it is hidious, tacky, horrible!!!!!Again just my opinion!! :) To me it looks like it should be at South of the Border or some hotel like that. I mean it says DUh in big letters!!

Seeing it as you drive down the Osceola Parkway, and actually being inside the resort, and in the environment are completely different.

Have to say that we'll be trying out PopCentury next. We've stayed at POR and Polynesian. So this will be our first time in a value resort. Dd loves the Disney magic and it looks like she'll be getting a huge dose of it there!!! I'll be booking it for a short, surprise visit in the near future. I'm finding myself very depressed that I don't have a trip to actively plan!!

If you get TWO adjoining rooms, they will be larger than a deluxe room, with two bathrooms, and cheaper than most deluxe rooms. On these terms you can give it a try without shoehorning a family of four into a tiny value room.

One thing I really liked about being at AKL was that it was a bit "toned down" after being in the parks. We drove by PC and my first thought was ..holy cow! That is one themed resort! It appeals to me much more than the sll stars resorts which don't appeal at all. I wouldn't mind spending a night or two there to check it out!
