Deluxe FastPass

I've been reading the "unofficial" guide to WDW and very interested in reading their theories on how fastpass might be changing e.g. deluxe resort guests getting instant fastpasses and being able to hold more than one at a time etc. Has anyone heard anything definite on these! I hope that something like this is implemented for 2008!!!

You can already hold more than one Fastpass.

You can get another fastpass as soon as the return window is open on the one you already have. It tells you on the Fastpass the time you can get another one. You should always check this time because some times you can get another one within a few minutes.

Haven't heard anything about a 'Deluxe' FP though.

Probably just rumour, I did read it and as we are staying de-luxe it would be very nice, DLPR Disneyhotel give each guest a number of fastpasses to use (we were very surprised when we received ours). I also read about MGM studios doing a halloween party, e-mailed Disney and they said there were no plans to do this and a friend who works at Disney hadn't even heard anything about this.

When we where there this year , apparently Disney are looking at ways to reward people staying onsite, not just those staying at deluxe properties. As yet when we where there no word on how.

I think this could be a very risky thing for WDW to do, they will be alot of people who will not like it at all.

I've heard about this as well. The story I read said that under one of the proposed schemes guests at Disney's Deluxe resorts will be able to pre-book their fastpass slots using the TV inside the hotel room the night before. Then, you just show your room key at the fastpass entrance and it is swiped by the CM to confirm your fastpass booking.

It is only a rumour and there is no timescale for its introduction yet.

I think it comes down to the number of guests - Universal only has 3 (?) hotels and so the hotel guests are a very small percentage of the visitors to Universal.
Disney has over 31,000 hotel rooms, if every guest got Fastpasses there wouldn't be many left for anyone else!

....which is why this proposal is restricted to Disney Deluxe resorts. Even so, Disney has many more than 3 deluxe hotels, but they also have more theme parks and a greater number of attractions. In addition, the FastPass system gives out more passes per attraction per time slot than the old universal express ever did. The FOTL system at the Universal hotels guarantees(?) a wait time of less than 15 minutes. We've waited more than this when using Disney fastpasses.

We recently visited Universal Hollywood. Here, you can buy FOTL access to all the attractions for about $60 more than the regular day ticket (about $120). I don't expect Disney would ever introduce such a scheme as I am pretty sure it goes against one of their standpoints in that guests shouldn't be able to "buy" themselves to the front of the lines.

I think it's a bad idea...

If those in Deluxe resorts get to go in fastpass queues whenever they want, that means looong fastpass queues, and hearing that that's what is happening will really annoy those who have paid extra to stay onsite, and may feel that they have been in a way punished for not being able to afford Deluxe resorts.. Very bad and extremely risky idea... A few fast passes when you check in is fine, but none of this unlimited buissiness...

We stayed at HRH for one night just to get the fast pass benefit & it was possibly the best money we spent. We got straight to the front of every queue as often as we wanted, and this allowed us, like other hotel guests, to do most of the things we wanted and then get back to the hotel to use the pool in the afternoon, which freed up the queues a little. We would not have stayed at HRH if this benefit had not been on offer, so it fills up their hotels. On the other hand, even though we had paid a lot of money to stay in a deluxe resort, (AKL) we still ended up waiting over an hour in the fast pass line at test track and other top attractions. The other side of this is that resort guests do get extra magic hours, but lines are often very long, especially at Epcot, where everyone seems to want to use the same three attractions.

I have read about this too - but only that it is a proposal...tbh I dont think it is needed, we visited in JUne and due to very careful planning and using the current fastpass system managed to ride every single ride and not queue more than 20 mins for anything!

apparently Disney patented several different FP methods a year or two ago, and based on their patent filings the rumours have been flying ever since....

time will tell...
