I'm not very good at thread titles...sorry!

Here's our situation. We will be getting the DxDP for all of us including my niece who will be 16.

Now, I know that a child cannot order off the adult menu on the plan but I want to know if an adult can order off the kid's menu if it's already prepaid as an adult credit.

I'm asking because she pretty much sticks to things like chicken nuggets.

To my thinking, Disney would be not be out anything because she would have paid for an adult meal but just eaten a kid's meal.

Anyone have any experience with this?

It's up to the restaurant. I think most are okay with it....but honestly a kids meal barely satisfied my 9 year old, I doubt it'll be enough for a 16 year old. If there isn't anything on the adult meal she wants, maybe see if she can get an adult portion of something on the kids menu?

She's one of those kids that can go without eating if there isn't something she would eat. I never thought about her asking for a larger portion of something on the kids menu.

Since it is up to the discretion of the restaurant and b/c kids portions can be very small...

Maybe try to schedule a lot of restaurants that are buffets (she can go to the kids section, no problem) or that have more traditional food for the picky eaters (if she will eat chicken nuggets, will she eat fried chicken from the adult menu? etc.) or that have food that can be made plain.

I too have traveled with a similar teenager. One thing that I will say is that WDW restaurants are very understanding and will take something they make and serve it "plain" or substitute french fries for most sides. Just ask and they will work with you to try and please the child.

There is a big thread on the main board now about La Hacienda de San Angel denying permission for anyone over 9 years old to order from the children's menu.

I caught that today. I'm going to have to talk it over with my sister some more. Everyone else in the party are looking forward to things outside our norm like Morocco.

Can she order something from the adult menu and have them leave off any gravies/sauces and the like? Basically like one would order a plain burger?
