Deluxe Digs, Delish Dining, & DISers:A Perfectly Pampered Trip for 2(Upt:8/12 pg.42)

Jen, I agree with Leslie, that outfit was very cute!
Sci Fi is great to look at but we weren't crazy about our food. Your dessert looked very tasty though....
4 DIS meets in one day is very cool!

It sounds like such a wonderful day at MGM. I'm so sorry that your meal at Sci-Fi was so slow. It never seems like you have a slow meal when you want them.

I love this update...everything in it...:goodvibes

I love the Great Movie Ride too...(I can't believe that anyone wold ever talk about getting rid of it...:confused3...update maybe but not get rid of...

TSM is one of my new faves...:thumbsup2

Love looking at all of Walt's stuff and the old costumes...gives me the chills...in a good way...

I am sorry about Sci Fi...I've always had good service there...makes a huge difference...glad you food was good though...:thumbsup2

Love that C loves reading the TR because she was there...:lmao:that made me laugh...:goodvibes

BTW...notice anything unusual in the following photo...

and this

(a new cub scout?)

:confused3

I could go on...let's just say that Eric discovered a gnome app after David told him about Nobby and for fun Eric has been gnomeing up some of our photos...:confused3...all gnomes are not created equal and I may have to stage an intervention soon...;)

OH Patricia...how did you know I needed a laugh tonight!!!! WOOT!! Those pictures are amazing!!! Although I do have to agree all gnomes are not created equal but that is still quite the photo application!!!!

Please tell David and JM that Nobby and I say hello!!!!!!

There's a WESTERN side? I never knew! Oh- and that PB dessert- I think I need to go to Sci-Fi sometime just for that- it looked yummy!:goodvibes

Yay! What a fun update! I can't believe you had four DIS meets in one day!!!! I liked reading your posting and Christine's = same day different set of eyes, and camera!! :rotfl: Fun to read, glad you got your TSM groove going!

So much to enjoy! I'll start with the onion rings!!! :goodvibes

:rotfl:

Hooray for Hollywood, indeed!
What a drag of an experience at Sci Fi! They seem to be extremely inconsistent at best. I have heard great things about the chocolate peanut butter cake, and now that I've seen a picture I think I'm going to have to make a stop there on my next trip :lovestruc.
I wonder if you could ask the CM loading the GMR if you can be in the cowboy car?

You still missed out on the cowboy scene? I was really thinking you would finally get to see it this time. Hopefully next time.

The food really does look good at the Sci-Fi. I was really wanting to go back there in December, but we've gone with 50's Prime Time instead. Hopefully, it will be good though.

I soooooooooo very much want to see the cowboy too! We've never gotten him.

What a GREAT DIS meet!!! Sorry to hear about the slow service at SciFi, but at least you had excellent conversation to pass the time. :goodvibes We loved our burgers and fries from there in September too! Someday I'll get that far in my TR...:rolleyes1;)

Hilarious!! :rotfl:

Nice update. Looking forward to seeing SSR pictures. :)

I'm glad the food was good at Sci-Fi.

It seems that Chelsea has turned Bo into quite the celebrity. ;)

Another great update, Jen! The pic of you and Stacikristine is really cute, and it sounds like you and C had a great time on TSM! Boo to getting the gangster again! Maybe there just aren't as many cowboys nowadays.

What a shame about the service at Sci-Fi! :( At least you were able to enjoy the atmosphere and air-conditioning.

Okay, I am ready for the next update. :lmao:

Awesome score on TSM!!! :woohoo: And yay for DIS meets; I had an accidental meet in '07, and am hoping to do some real ones in December.

Great update, Jen!!

YAY!!! I'm in this update! :goodvibes I loved meeting you--if we weren't so busy, it would have been great to chat longer. But at least we can read along about each others' trips :thumbsup2

I've ONLY had the western scene at the Great Movie Ride! We should just switch places in line if we're ever there at the same time! :upsidedow

I'm so sad you had bad service at Sci-Fi. We loved it there. Maybe it's better at dinner?? Let me just say--don't give up on it too soon!

I'm anxious to see your room!! I bet it's gorgeous!

What a great update! :thumbsup2 Awesome TSM scores! I bought the game for my Wii so I can practice when not playing the real thing!!

Sci-Fi does have a fun atmosphere but I guess it's not really a must do for me. What is a weird side note is that I went there in January with one of my nieces and then I took her sister in October and we had the same car and the same seat! I took pictures of us in each of them!! I really did enjoy the BLT soup though.....sooooooo good!

Not a huge fan of the gangster either.....last time it was a lady gangster lol and she was a bit older and I felt bad, because, well...she was a bit bad.

Tracy

Just a little FYI...on the GMR, they seat two "cars" at once (each with their own guide). If you want the cowboy scene, you need to be seated in the first "car". The gangster scene is the second "car". I've been fortunate enough to see both and I prefer the cowboy!

I love that you got to see the cowboy version at the GMR. I can't remember the last time I've seen the cowboy version. The past few times I've gone on the ride they always either remove that first car altogether and just run the rear/gangster one, or they run it but don't let anyone sit there. I'm dying to see the cowboy one again. It was always my favorite.

Great info!! I did not know that!!! I've only ever seen the gangster scene!

Jennifer!!! :goodvibes
I have been off the dis for a WHILE... but I'm back from Tahiti and am diving right into these trip reports! Sounds like you had some great dis meets. And I'm sorry to hear about the poor service at the sci fi :sad2: You have to admit, though..... that cheeseburger is pretty darn good!!!!
PS- In readin your friend's TR about the temps that day.. you must've been DYING in those capris!!! Unless you Southeners are just immune to heat exhaustion? :confused3

Fabulous update! :goodvibes

I love your outfit on this day, you look so cute with Mickey.

Those onion rings from Sci Fi look so YUMMY. I really want onion rings now. YUM.

I'm sorry about your s l o w meal at Sci Fi!

Oh and you just have to ride The Great Movie Ride with me in order to get the Cowboy! ;)

Awww thanks!!! I really did like that outfit...I'm sure it will make the cut for January...although now I have to think about buying a new pair of khakis for then LOL!!! No capris in January!!!

The Onion rings were really really good but once again the service just did me in for it!!!!

Must have Cowboy side in January!!!!

:cool1: YAY an update finally! :yay: Sorry you had such a crazy busy week! Hope your mouth is feeling better soon! LOVE LOVE LOVE  the pics - you are a great photographer! :thumbsup2 Glad at least that the food at Sci Fi was good! We are going to brave the rumours and eat here on our trip! popcorn:: Ken is already craving that Peanut Butter cake dessert! :rolleyes1

Love it! Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

Mouth is still a bit sore and I'm not sure why....ughh!!!! Awww thanks I have a lot of fun taking different types of photos at Disney and I'm looking forward to posting more!!!!!!

I hope you guys have a great meal, I know the girls will love the atmosphere there!!!

Ooooooh, it's so much fun to read about a TR when I was actually there! :yay: You took some fantastic photos, as always. I never knew the license plate in GMR referred to the Valentine's Day massacre. Cool detail. I usually get the gangster scene too. I know you love this ride -- are you in the camp of wanting it to be updated a bit or would you prefer it stay as it is?

Lunch was so fun with you despite the wait. I felt like we just fell into regular conversation and you'd never know we just officially met. Of course there were a few thousand DIS board posts to get to know eachother.

Great last score on TSM.

I can't wait to see and hear about your room at SSR!! :thumbsup2

I'm definitely in the camp where I would like it updated but not completely redone...its a great classic ride and if they never changed it I would also be okay with that.

Lunch was fun and we did have a great time and yes it felt like old friends getting together!!!! So much fun!!!!!!

Great update!!!!!!!!! That is a very cute picture of you and Staci. Huge bummer about lunch taking so long, that's frustrating and can make it hard to enjoy if you start to feel like you are losing park time. I'm glad you enjoyed the food, that's something at least. 2 DISmeets by lunch, very cool :thumbsup2

Awww thanks Staci was so much fun to meet!!! Yeah I may give Sci Fi another try just not anytime soon, wasn't impressed with the overall service!!! Yes meeting Disers is always a real treat!!!

Great update Jen! I must say, your scores on TSMM put mine to shame! I'm just not that good at it, but it's so much fun!!! That dessert at Sci-Fi is divine and the picture made my mouth water. Love all of you pics and I can't wait for more! :goodvibes

I love that game!!! SO much fun!!! Can't wait to play again in a couple of months or so!!! The dessert was so good but I was so full by the that time LOL!!!!!

Sounds like you had a great day at DHS! You look so cute with Sorcerer Mickey! He's my fav!!!

Like I said in Christine's TR, your SciFi experience sound very familiar. Stay tuned on my TR...

Can't wait to here about your stay at SSR!!

Can't wait to hear about your service there!!!!! SSR was fantastic really enjoyed it!!!!

Slow service in a theme park restaurant is not good but I'm glad your food was!

Do we all take pictures of Bo now?? :lmao:

No its not good especially when you are on a mission, but thankfully most meals C, P, and I were very happy to just sit back and relax and enjoy the moment!!!!

Yes I do believe we all take pictures of Bo now LOL!!!

Just caught up with your TR and loving it. Looking forward to your report on SSR

Thanks so much!!!!! SSR is a fantastic resort!!!

Jen, I agree with Leslie, that outfit was very cute!
Sci Fi is great to look at but we weren't crazy about our food. Your dessert looked very tasty though....
4 DIS meets in one day is very cool!

Thanks Anita!!

Yes 4 DIS meets it was a lot of fun to meet up with all those people!!!! They are a fantastic group!! One day I hope we meet up!!!

It sounds like such a wonderful day at MGM. I'm so sorry that your meal at Sci-Fi was so slow. It never seems like you have a slow meal when you want them.

LOL!! That is very true!!! DHS is a great park and I really love it!!!

There's a WESTERN side? I never knew! Oh- and that PB dessert- I think I need to go to Sci-Fi sometime just for that- it looked yummy!:goodvibes

YEah don't worry I have that same thought...really a Western side....its an urban legend LOL!!!!!

:goodvibes

:rotfl:

Now C is way ahead of me so I have to play catch up LOL!!!!!!!!

Onion rings were very very good...I could have a plate for breakfast LOL!!!!!

Jen -

I must be losing it, cause I could have sworn that I already read and commented on your last installment. Yet - when I just went back and read it, it looks like I completely missed it. And I thought I had caught up on everyone's TR. Apparently I was very wrong.

I love your pictures. What a great time you had at HS. And you look great in your pics.....tan and skinny!

Your TSM scores are really good. I'm impressed.

And lunch at Sci Fi looks yummy, especially that dessert. YUM!

Sorry for being so late. :confused3 I have no plausible explanation for my tardiness!

edit: I know what happened. I read about your meet with C in her TR and commented on that. Silly me!

Chapter 6: I’ll Have Some Tartar Sauce with My Fish and Chips

Happy Monday!! I’m so sorry for the delay but the holidays snuck up on me and with the arrival of my parents and friends from out of town well my focus was elsewhere!! Things are going well here, busy making plans for my upcoming trips! I have a very special surprise awaiting for the October trip…I can’t wait for the big reveal on that!!! Prince P and I have also been making serious progress on DVC and dare I say we will most likely be owners by the coming new year YAY!!!! Well since I’m so far behind I definitely don’t have time to chit chat so let’s continue shall we…

After lunch with C, I was a bit tired and my room was ready at Saratoga so I decided to head back to rest a bit and freshen up before dinner. Well the only problem with that…I had accidentally deleted my text that told me my room number (Blonde moment #2, in case we’re keeping count.) So this meant a stop to the front desk to explain how I had deleted my text and get my room number!!! The lady at the front desk was more than happy to help me locate my room number and direct me to my room. I was going to be on the 3rd floor of the Congress Park area. I drove myself over the area parked the car and went up to my room…it was gorgeous and I have a very nice view of the Westside of Downtown Disney…it was a very peaceful area. The room was breathtaking itself, once again I became aware of the joy that is DVC and it once again convinced me of my desire to own. However, I must admit that I have failed you all because here comes Blonde moment #3, I didn’t take a lot of pictures of my room!! I KNOW THE HORROR!! WHAT WAS I THINKING LOL!!! I blame the lack of sleep, the color of my hair, and the complete state of awe I was in…however before taking a few moments to relax and get ready I did manage to take these few shots.

SO yup that’s it…I know I know…I will do better next time I promise!! Thankfully Paula will help redeem our room pictures later on!!!!

Well I am not sure where the time went but my break was over and I was heading to EPCOT!! It is moments like this when I knew I was going to be cutting it making it on time to meet up C that I was so thankful for my rental car. Soon I was parked (in a very nice spot close to the entrance…one perk of a late arrival LOL) and heading to the American Pavilion…the farthest point from the entrance and I had about 15 minutes to do it in…no problem right LOL!!! Well I booked it, yes I walked very quickly through the throngs of people and made it to the American Pavilion just a few minutes late and quite a bit sweatier LOL!!!!! As I was walking I passed by a woman I knew I had seen before, but I couldn’t quite place it. She looked very very familiar to me…then I realized that I was pretty sure that was Heather (Circusgrl) but of course I wasn’t just going to walk up to a stranger and say hi…I mean what if it wasn’t her. I knew the plan was to meet up with Heather and C and listen to the concert, but still….I may be social, but I’m not that brave. So I made a mental of note of where she sat down and would ask C!!! C shortly arrived and I met her by the fountain, gave her gift, and then pointed out the lady I thought might be Heather…well I was right, it was Heather!! So introductions were made and we had a great time listening to the music of the BBVDD and watching the crowds near by get their party are. It was really fun to watch the swing dancers strut their stuff, made me wish I could dance!!!! Heather, C, and I really enjoyed the time we had to chat and enjoy our nice seats on the fountain in front of America and when the concert was over we decided to take in some AC and watch the American Adventure, where Heather informed us she had never seen the shown….knock me over with a feather…well we certainly were not going to let this opportunity pass us by….I love me some American Adventure. The final song, Golden Dream, gives me goosebumps and I always walk out very proud to be an American!!! As we exited we said goodbye to Heather and then C and I decided to head over to Rose and Crown and check in for dinner!!

On the way we made a little stop to say hello to one of my favorite French princesses.

Day1Photos134.jpg

Belle was very charming and we really enjoyed saying hello!!!!!

Finally we made our way to England and we checked in and decided to check out the stores while we waited. C did request when we checked in that we would like a table by the water, but of course there are never any guarantees. Well we got as far as the Beatles room (which I never knew existed LOL) when our buzzer when off so back to Rose and Crown we went!!! Now I have to tell you this was one of the best service meals of the trip. Our server was simply amazing, he freely offered suggestions when asked, hence how C found out that duchess potatoes is British for cheesy mashed potatoes and really helped us keep our meal at a very leisure pace, not once that even did I feel rushed. I had great food and great company, well there was a little incident involving a screeching kid, but that would become a theme at dinners for the rest of trip LOL!!!

For my meal I started out with Apple and Stilton Salad - Mixed Greens tossed with Candied Walnuts, Apples, English Stilton Cheese, and Cranberry Vinaigrette.

Day1Photos137.jpg

OOOH was this good, the dressing was light and refreshing and after the hot day we had just experienced it really hit the spot!!

Then the bread was brought out.

Day1Photos135.jpg

Very nice!!!! I always love the newspaper print its brought out on!! See C’s Welsh Dragon in the background, I believe I was allowed a sip and I have to agree with C, quite a nice drink!!!!!

For my main meal I had the Fish and Chips which I had been craving since Leslie and I had them in May…these are the best fish and chips I have ever had!! Leslie and I are going back in January and it will be very hard for me to try something new.

Day1Photos140.jpg

Shortly before dessert and Illuminations, the temperature started to drop which in Florida could only mean one thing…rain was coming!!! It started to sprinkle a bit and more people started to come into the restaurant!! However for the most part we had a nice view of Illuminations and for me the best part is the music so I loved being able to listen while I had my dessert, the no sugar added fruit trifle…which was amazing! I’m not sure how Disney does it, but I would never guess this dessert had no sugar added LOL!!

Day1Photos141.jpg

After dessert, the heavens opened up and the rain came down!! So C and I just sat and chatted until it finally let up and we said our goodbyes and made our plans for Sunday and dinner at the Cali Grill!!! I was able to walk very quickly and make it to my car before the rain started again and soon I was in bed, my first day at Disney very much everything I had hoped it would be and looking forward to Day 2.
