I see what people are talking about with delta, they have changed it 3 times in two months. I am sure they will change it again.

We will now have 1 hour and 6 miniutes on our layover in atlanta. Will this be enought time to get to the next plane. My husband is now concerned.

perfect connection time, IMO, as long as everything is on time.

When Delta switched our flight time around I called and explained that it doesn't work for us and there was a very specific reason for the flights I picked.

They were more than happy to change our flight to non stop without a charge.

You should be fine with an hour. Is it a Delta to Delta connection?

Delta is terrible with their time changes. They changed my first flight from CLE to ATL in 2008 5 times and in the end it ended up being the same as the original time. Then, I get to ATL and they changed the second leg without even notifying me. I got to spend 5 hours in that airport.

Two of my friends just got back from Miami yesterday and Delta really screwed up. They changed the first flight so it was getting in only 1 hour before the connecting flight (they scheduled just over 2) and then were late so they missed the connection. Unfortunately they were put on another flight to a different airport but their bags were sent to the original airport. Now they are here in Cleveland and their bags are sitting down in Akron.

I try to fly Continental or Southwest when I can and neither have ever changed a flight time on me by more than a few minutes and even then only once, not repeatedly.

I booked my flight almost 6 months in advance....I went in knowing the flight times could change but the fare was really good. It did change by only a couple of minutes (less than 15) but Delta allowed me to then pick a different flight (on line) for no change fee what-so-ever! I picked an earlier flight and now get into MCO at the reasonable hour of 4pm!!!

So......it works both ways.

To the original OP...no worries, you'll have plenty of time. Airlines are not in the habit of making connections unattainable.

ITA with this. I've had our February flights booked since last March (on Delta).

Have the times changed? YES (several times)
Have the flgt numbers changed? YES
Have our seats been changed? YES
Have our flights changed from Delta to NWA? YES

Ultimately, the flight change for our flight home worked to our advantage. We were originally scheduled to depart at 7pm. They changed it to a 3pm departure. I called and told them we had plans, and could not leave that early. They switched us to the same flight, the following day, at no charge.

Full disclosure, I expected ALL of the above changes to happen, and have been keeping an eye on our itineraries.

OP--I think an hour in ATL is going to be fine for you. :thumbsup2

I had this happen to me befor too . you can call delta and see if the can change your flight for a non stop flight , they have done this form me befor which worked in my favor it gave me 2 extar hour on my last trip with them.

Funny....when I ended up using Delta to book my daughter's flight home from college for her break I fully expected the times to change at least once. She had to connect through Atlanta too, so I was vigilant to make sure she had a reasonable amount of time. The original connection was 56 minutes.

The flight never changed once. Landed EARLY in Atlanta, and her connection was sitting at the terminal two gates away. She had plenty of time to get herself a bottle of water at a concession stand before boarding the second flight.

Which is why many of us recommend ALWAYS packing a carry-on with whatever items one will need for the first 24 hours at the destination (even if that destination is "home", in case of a intermediary delay where your checked luggage actually makes it all the way through)

I don't know if it is that I book kind of late, only about 2 months before my trip, or if it is where I fly from, but I always fly Delta to Florida and my flight times in the last ten trips have only been changed twice and it was only by 10 minutes and 5 minutes respectively.

Delta/NWA what a mess...watch your tickets...Booked award tickets back last Feb for xmas. Got a phone call from DELTA asking if I would be willing to change my flight home due to overbooking...said yes...changed flight back to NY..that was back on 11/10...was promised a $300 voucher NEVER REC"D.
Went to check flights yesterday...my husband's ticket was GONE....it took four hrs on the phone to straighten it out...a mess.

that is actually very EARLY in RealWorld to book a ticket, although in DISWorld it is 'late'. I was going to recommend booking 2-3 weeks in advance if people want to avoid changes.

The only time I can understand booking 51 weeks in advance is over a peak holiday period on a route where fares have been proven to rise. Booking early on a route served by few carriers may make sense, but the vast majority of posters fly from/to destinations well served by carriers.

Or if you are trying to use your upgrade certificate from Toronto to Sydney. Though, that might not apply to all that many people. Refundable ticket anyway, so price changes are not an issue.

Or book early and understand there is a very GREAT likelihood on almost every single mainline carrier that the schedule will change, at a minimum 2-4 times a year.

I just flew a LH route this week which hasn't changed in over ten years, but they recently changed the times by an hour. Anything can happen.

If there were not schedule changes, passengers would be paying several times more than they do now, to offset the airport fees airlines have to pay and the lower loads.

Agreed. I *knew* that my flight timing could change, but was willing to accept that. It turned out that my flight was actually totally taken off the schedule! However, since the replacement was much better (they got rid of that horrid stop in Honolulu), I was not going to complain about it!

okay thanks. We are worried our flight will take off late and screw us on the layover. We will leave Detroit march 5. Sometimes there is snowstorms then.

We flew Delta once and were subjected to a multitude of flight changes before we even left. Once we flew, we were subjected to significant delays on the planes at each leg while they bribed people to give up their seats due to mass overbooking.

Never flew them again, never will. It was too much aggravation - they clearly care not for their customer's welfare!

I'm all about JetBlue now.
