I am hopefully going to Las Vegas in December and wondered if I could pick the brains of anyone who's been.

I went there in March and had a great time. Saw Cirque Du Soleils "O" which was amazing.

I stayed at The Sahara which was fine but not special. This time I want to really push the boat out and stay somewhere really awesome.

Anyone got any recommendations?

And is there anything out there that I should really see or do?

Hey... just putting my 2 cents in and I hope this helps... We were in vegas february and had stayed 2 days at Alladin whcih is now the new Planet hollywood and the last 2 nites we stayed at Bellagio... I can say that I love both places...

Planet Hollywood has a much roomier room like almost 2x the size of Bellagio standard Pool view room, also it has a more casual ambience from all the shops... and shows and restaurants/clubs they have you dont even need to leave the vicinity for a good 2-3 days... Bellagio is more of an I need to relax mood... you wake up.. you go to the pool.. spa... enjoy the lobby/lounge and if you dont have a key card you wont get passed the elevators which was a nice safety feature... Since when we went to watch O... scalpel all in fancy suits are lobbying around... it was a but crazy... which one thing I did not like at that time at the Alladin/Planet Hollywood since their pool was at the 3rd floor and peeps who wanted to see the pool can just go hike the elevators and go up.. which means anybody can just go up... and for a more convenient accesable location in the above map../ I would suggest to stay in that square from number 25 to 35 and everything is just walking distance...

shows we want to go back for:

the new Cirque "Love" using the Beattles hit song...

hope this helps.. if theres any question you might want to ask just PM away! :rolleyes1

It's really tricky because there are so many incredible hotels. I've stayed at The Wynn, TheHOTEL at Mandalay Bay, Bellagio and the Signature at MGM Grand.

Out of those, my favourite is the Signature. Not only are the suites some of the most luxurious on earth, but the staff and service are exceptional. Some people complain about the location -- it is about 5 to 10 minutes off of the strip along an enclosed moving walkway. However, you have full access to all of the facilities at the MGM Grand. The suites which you stay in at the Signature are actually condos which have been sold to people - and they sell for around the $1m mark. Another thing I like is that it is completely non-smoking and very clean - with no casino. Compared to some of the smoke-filled casinios and lobbys of the other hotels, this is a huge plus. It's nice to be able to escape the craziness of Las Vegas at the end of each day.

Having said all of that, I don't think the Signature would be the best bet if you like to be immersed in the casino hustle and bustle 24/7 or if you want immediate access to the strip.

Check out tripadvisor - I believe the Signature is still ranked the #1 Las Vegas hotel.

The signature is supposed to be the best in vegas personally I like the theming of the venetian and the bellagio. I'd definately consider the luxor, new york or mirage though

Oooh, I loved Vegas. We stayed at The Luxor for 7 nights and thought it was wonderful. We stayed in a pyramid room and the room itself was beautiful with an amazing view. The buffet was to die for and I loved the hotels location, right near the top of The Strip so it was really convenient for visiting the other hotels. To be honest, I don't think you could go wrong with the majority of the hotels at the top end or middle of The Strip, I visited all of them, and they all looked beautiful. I loved the pool in The Luxor though:thumbsup2 If I went back, I may actually stay there again, it was that fantastic, and where else can you stay in a pyramid?

we loved vegas when we whent,we stayed at the Hotel@mandalay bay for its wavepool(would say its a third of the size of typhoon lagoons)but air temp might be cooler in dec.The Wyinn looks impresive, hope you will have a grand time

We got married in the Bellagio last year. Beautiful hotel and very well located. We really liked it, so much so that we are going back next year staying again at the Bellagio and MGM Grand.

We stayed at the Aladdin 4 years ago and loved it there but I don't know what it's like now it's Planet Hollywood. I loved having a shopping mall in the hotel though!!! A great feature!!

If you're looking for trips to do from Vegas, I'd recommend the Grand Canyon!! But we did it as a coach tour and completely regretted it!! We did it to save money but it's about a 5 hour bus ride there and back and you get about an hour at the Canyon!! We're going to go back one day and do a helicopter ride over the Canyon as I've heard that's amazing!! Also, I'd recommend doing a Death Valley tour. We did one in a 4x4 and there were only 4 of us on the tour so it was pretty personal!!

The Variety Show at the Venetian was pretty bad so I wouldn't recommend that!! Make sure you go to Fremont Street which has a light show on a big screen which spans over the top of the street - that was an appalling explanation but it's good fun!!

Like others have said, you'll have a wicked time in any of the hotels there as there's something about Vegas - I love the atmosphere there!!!

Vick :)

I'd go for either the Luxor or the Mirage if I was going.

Never been before but know people who play in the Luxor regularly.
Keep saying I'll go and visit but never seem to find the time !!

I agree, the grand canyon is definately worth doing, theres an option where you can fly there by light plane, helicopter through the canyon and then land on the floor and take a raft ride down the river. definately worth it!

Be careful as this trip only happens during certain dates of the year. I booked it for last July (2nd) only to be told three days before the trip that we shouldn't have been booked on it as it didn't start til later in July!!! But the helicopter trip is a great way to go over the Canyon :)

Was the wedding classy? Have you got any photos would love to see what it is like getting married at the Bellagio. Stephen is not a big marriage/wedding person, but he says that one day we can get hitched in Vegas - Bellagio sounds great although he is probably think about the Elvis Chapel :rotfl2:

It certainly was but then we paid alot of money for it.

We have photos but it's not really fair to DH to share them on a chat forum.

Not even one of just you Florence? Have you got any of the wedding area itself? Would love to see what the inside of one of those posh hotels (read 'Ones that I would never get a chance to stay in') looks like :)

Yeah, the DH is shy? That is a shame :(. How about some of you or anything else from the wedding to give us a feel of what your big day was like must have been magical!

If you have the full big family wedding and parties back home, they cost a large fortune plus the honeymoon on top. So your wedding may have been expensive but probably not extortionate in comparison and I bet you have some great memories to treasure.

Oh yes, that would be wonderful if you had any to share. I'd love to see what a Bellagio wedding was like.
