i understand that a ride may be delayed due to mechanical difficulty, especially during the times it is very busy. Yesterday we got to wait on the line Line for the Haunted Mansion, for no less than 30 mins when it was in the mid 90s. I think the staff should have come out and told people that the length of the delay is not known. Some people may have chose to leave due to the heat.

Don't they do this? When it closes and you're in line, they tell you so you can decide if you want to stand there for an indefinite time or go do something else...

Okaysi. I'll play. Which line were you in - standby or FP? And what was the standby wait time when you entered?

Hmmm ... interesting question. I think that if a line closed or a ride shut down while I was waiting, I would assume that it was for an indeterminate or unknown amount of time, unless they came out and said otherwise. It is always frustrating when this happens, trying to decide to stick it out of cave in and exit the line.

Unless they didn't tell you at all that the ride was having mechanical problems, they did tell you it was down.

We were in line for Winnie the Pooh and they stopped loading, a CM told us they had to remove a faulty pot and it would take a few minutes. We were in line for the Tiki Room and a guest went down (presumably due to heat), they did not make an announcement but we were close enough to know what was happening (and pass up our unopened frosty towel to try to help). Anyone further back would not have any idea why the delay unless word of mouth passed through the line. The lady was looking better by the time we passed, I think of her every now and then and hope it truly was just heat and she recovered fully quickly!

But after standing and not moving for 30 minutes, wouldn't you have known?

I compare this to when my husband and I were driving from Georgia to Maryland for the July 4th weekend. We were all fat dumb and happy in our nice air conditioned car until north of Raleigh, NC. Traffic just stopped. Both lanes northbound and we had no idea why. We didn't move for over thirty minutes. By that time, we had turned off the car and were just sitting there with the windows open and the radio on. Still no word on what happened or how long it would take. We did move - about a quarter of a mile and then shut down again. This continued for two hours and only in the last twenty minutes did we find out what had happened and why it happened.
