What type of clothing will I need for the first week of December? I see the average temp is around 75 H and 55 L. Can you get away with shorts and sweatshirts in the AM. I remeber one trip we did that and the only time we got cold was on early boat trips!
Any help would be appreciated. Maybe some Floridians can help.

Having been there first week december 2 years ago...the weather was all over the map the 5 days I was there....warmest was about 74 but it dropped during one day to 50 and raining the next....and the nights were even colder..

Last year during christmas week it was heavy sweatshirt to med coat weather....on about Dec 26 it changed to 87 and hot...tshirt/shorts weather.. The weather can be all over the map

I'm packing for the first week of december and I'm including sweatshirts, long pants, tshirts, shorts, and a winter jacket just in case..

I know this not good for light packing but be prepared for anything. We live in FL and the motto here is "Wait 5 minutes and the weather will change" December does not have those pesky afternoon thunderstorms but you never know what the temp will be until closer to your arrival. Check the Weather channel website, A few days before you leave.

I was there early Dec of 2000 and I have to agree that the temps were all over the place. The first couple of days were very nice and we wore shorts and t-shirts and then the temperature dropped and there were frost warnings! I had on a turtleneck with my leather jacket and was wishing for gloves!

For this trip I am going to bring layers! A few t-shirts, a couple of long sleeve shirts, a throw over type jacket (that I can carry with me in the parks), and hand warmers for my pockets if I need that.

This will be my 6th year there at that time. Check the weather, link above from mom, or give my spinner a spin, number 8, and bookmark them, to refer to as you get closer. I have been there with temps in the high 30's to low 80's. You really have to be prepared for a range. Right now seems like high 70's, low 80's day, to high 50's at night. Check as you get closer.

I agree with the other posters. We are Floridians who will be attending our 10th consecutive MVMCP.

We have worn anything from shorts to flight jackets with gloves and wool hats. Last year, it got down to 23 degrees!!!

That said, it's been really cold for the past two years, so it should be warmer this year (if it follows trends from previous years).

Have fun regardless of the weather!!!:teeth:

It really depends on where you come from/what your temprement is.

I live in New England, and I'm in shorts/T-shirt as long as it's above 50. Then again, I know people who bundle up in sweaters and long johns if it's less than 70.

You know you best. If you are someone who is always cold, bring extra stuff - and even if you are not bring more just in case. :)

N.E.D., who realizes this post wasn't especially helpful :)

That's usually the way you can tell who lives here and who is visiting. :) The native Floridian is freezing when it hits 70 where the northerners are in their shorts.

I know we used to be in the pools or wearing shorts watching the lifeguard freezing by the pool.

Is my advice we have been early part of December each year since 1992 and experienced everything from very cold to down right hot.

Thanks for all the information. I guess I am glad we decided to drive instead of fly. I am a heavy packer anyway, so now I have an excuse to pack everything even our bathing suits!
