We finally decided to become DCV members and have been on a waitlist for 150 BCV points for a month now and we're impatient. DH asked me this weekend if maybe we should get a 150 at BWV (because our guide said this will probably be faster) and staying on the waitlist for 100 BCV points. I couldn't believe he said that--- I never thought he would go for 250 pts!!!!
Do you think it's a good idea to split points between resorts??? We thought we would alternate points each year (bank 100 BCV one year then use the 200 next year and then the same for BWV bank 150 one year then have 300 the next) Does this sound like it would work?

Well...since you have him moving in the right direction already...how 'bout 150 each? No fussing about which resort you have more points in, etc. Seems more manageable to me. ;)

We loved both BWV and BCV and were deciding which to buy. We ended up BWV, well frankly, because it came with instant gratification--no wait list. We found the BWV pool great for small children. It has all the frills (slide, squirting elephant, pool side DJ, pool side bar ;) . At BCV the kids are out of sight too easily. It might be great for larger children. I do not think you can go wrong with either (or both).

But as always, remember that the time that your children will be "small" is short compared to the length of a DVC contract....

Yes, that definitely works. Then, if you decide to book within the 7 month window you can combine the points. My only advice is to keep the two contracts in the same use year. We own at BCV and SSR and it's quite manageable. It all sounds like a good plan.

I agree with the idea of two smaller contracts. We did a similar thing, but both of our contacts are at the same resort and are divided as a 230 point contract and a 150 point contract.

Yes, it can work, but it will require some extra tracking and attention on your part to avoid losing points.

I would definitely recommend getting the same use year for both, even if you have to wait awhile for the second contract to come through. That will make banking and reservation winodo tracking easier. Easy is good when you are new, LOL!

The extra tracking comes in when you don't use exactly double your allotment every other year. You have to keep track of those "leftover" points and which contract they are on. With two home resorts, you'll have to keep different 11 & 7 month booking windows in mind. Print the points charts out (link at top of the page) and pretend you already have the contracts. Figure out the point cost for your DVC vacations for the next 4 -5 years and also the days you would call to make the reservations. I doubt your vacations will always (if ever) equal exactly 200 and 300 points, so pretend to do the banking while you are playing around, too. You'll see what I mean about "leftover" points and how you might lose points.

When you become an owner, know that it's a good idea to ask MS for a verbal "point status" after every call/transaction. If you don't agree, you can straighten things out before you hang up. Saves a lot of grief!

Lots of members juggle more than one contract and have multiple home resorts. It can be done. But don't buy this way if you are not able/willing to do the extra tracking. You'll just end up frustrated.

Best wishes -
