Deer Accidents

I hit a deer moving across country in South Dakota. We had to be towed to local body shop. They were able to pull fender out and tape up our car (Cadillac srx) so we could finish our drive Seattle. Progressive was great. They paid the towing and fee for local body shop 100% and then paid all $5500 due at shop in Seattle. All we paid was the $500 deductible. Car was in shop about 30 days due to parts on back order but they paid for rental the entire time. It was a pleasant experience. we did use their preferred body shop but it was a large reputable place I would have chosen anyway.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult experience. In 2007 I hit a deer and almost exactly a year later in 2008 I hit another deer. Both did pretty extensive damage. I was with Progressive for both accidents. They were great. I only had to pay my $500 deductible and everything else was covered. Hopefully your issues are resolved soon.

I hit a deer about two years ago with a car I hadn't even had for a month. I immediately called the police and they said they don't normally come to the scene unless the car is not drivable or the deer is still there. So since the deer was gone and I could still drive my car they just made a note that I had called to report it. As soon as I got home I called Liberty Mutual and they sent someone to my house to look at it a couple days later. They dragged out the process forever and the people that came to my house tried to accuse me of lying. They said I didn't hit a deer that I was trying to cover up another accident. I was pissed! If they had come in a timely fashion they could have seen the deer fur still in my hood! The process of fixing the vehicle took 2 to 3 weeks because everytime a representative had to look at the vehicle when it was at the shop they would take days to go look at it and the people at the shop had to keep calling them. I had to pay my deductible for comprehensive which was $300 and left them shortly after the car was fixed.
The exact same thing just happened to me in this month I got a deer hit me on the side out of nowhere coming out of the woods I called my insurance company which is also Liberty Mutual and the lady who did my claim told me I had full coverage and then I put the car in the body shop after the adjuster comes he gives the body shop the adjustment payment two hours later I was told that I was lying about the deer hitting my car because I made it so that the fender was back under the tire was enough so I could drive it for 2 days to get the rental car when you're just I never said one thing about a bump in my bumper that wasn't from the dear I would have told him that they're trying to say that I was lying that a deer could not have hit my car but like you said if they would have came out before 3 weeks they came out on the 27th to look at it they would have seen the hair in the headlight that cracked also my Fender and my headlight got damaged and part of my bumper and now I have to pay $500 deductible yet again today being told that the damage doesn't add up to what I told them I am not a liar I have never lied I have never been in an accident I have never filed an insurance claim and Liberty Mutual has also called me a liar so I feel your pain dude it really sucks to pay insurance four things they're not going to take care of 4 days of God through this now and if I wake up tomorrow and they tell me to stop all process on the car again I'm about ready to lose it as soon as the cars fixed I'll be switching to a new company also I will be damned if I have somebody call me a liar when a deer hit my car not in the front but came out and hit me on the side I didn't see him it happened so fast it slammed into me and ran into the woods and it was also a blizzard out so I couldn't take proper pictures at the time they told me to wait until the adjuster came out I should have taken my own pictures my mistake there but never filing a claim I ask them what should I do they tell me to wait for the adjuster that's what I did I also told him I fixed it enough so I could drive it at the time until the car could get to the shop and I could get the rental that's how I thought it went nobody told me how to file or what to do very upset client of Liberty Mutual and will never use them again I like them at first but now I'll never use them again after being called a liar and they told me we're not calling you a liar but if you tell me what really happened we will cover all the damage I told the lady what you want me to tell you a lie

A deer ran into my son when he was driving our smallest vehicle. At first he thought there was no damage, but when he got home, I could feel a big dent in the fender on that side. Then we tried to open the passenger door and realized that the impact had pushed the fender into the door. There was deer hair caught in the trim along the door, so the deer slid the length of the car before it ran off. We called our State Farm agent and took the car to the same shop DH has used when he has struck deer with his company vehicle. There was damage in the amount of several thousand dollars. It took about a week to fix it, but I don't remember paying even a deductible.

Maybe you've never had an accident before. These things do take time. It does no good to yell at the agents. You need to remain calm and be politie at all times. When you have an accident is not the time to threaten to cancel your insurance, which is maybe why you were speaking with the retention department. Also, it's not wise to have a deductible so high that you cannot comfortably pay it.
Same thing happened to me deer hit the side of my Fender and shut me in my driver door I had to get out the passenger side and Liberty mutual's trying to say that I deer couldn't make that damage that I was lying not calling me a liar they said but if you're tell me the real story will cover it all they said I said to her what do you want me to do or tell you a lie that's what happen there's hair in the headlight if they would have came out the adjuster they would have seen that I ended up having to pay a deductible of 500 when it should have been fully covered

It's been nothing but a total nightmare now I just look up my online account and they change my claim to me hitting a parked car which never happened

Wow, That is really horrible! I just wanted to say this just happened to me 3 weeks ago. A deer hit me jumped right out in front of me so straight on the bumper. I called Ameriprise and they told me I could take it to one of the shops that they
use or one that I picked out.
We went with theirs. They sent us a check and we took it over. The work took 1 full week. I guess I am thankful! (Ameriprise is through Costco)

Good luck everyone. I hope you are healthy! Luckily I was by myself and no one was injured. Even the deer ran away. Although I did have a big patch of its hair. : (

It was three weeks ago at happened to me the day after my birthday during the storm and they called me a liar and not so many words and told me if you tell us what really happened we can give you full coverage after telling me I had full coverage if switch to claim twice told the auto shop to stop and start repairs 3 times I look underneath my emails tonight and see that they switch it to me hitting a parked car really they want me to tell him a lie and yeah they could have seen the hair in my headlight to

I think I'll have to try your insurance company after this nightmare is over definitely switching companies I will not be treated this way more insinuating that I lied when the deer slammed right into my car I didn't even see it happened so fast and it ran into the woods didn't know it was a deer until I saw their hit me on the side of my car not the front I was looking forward not on the side of me I'm just very upset that a company could do this to their clients call them liars and then say they're not calling you a liar but they are I'm told them to pay $500 deductible whereas before I wouldn't have to pay that now they're trying to say I hit a parked car how can they do that

I think I would call them back and tell them you are wrong there was no parked car. A deer hit me. Don't let them walk all over you. Good luck to you!

I did call them back and ask them why they are putting a different story to my claim no answer yet I don't want to push it too much just in case they decide not to fix the car at all

We have State Farm and I hit a deer with my BRAND new car. Hadn't even made the First stinkin' payment. :headache: I couldn't believe it!! Had my friggin' van for 12 years and I couldn't have hit the deer with it. NOOOO!! It had to be in the new Flex! :sad2: But anyhoo...
They were awesome. I was so afraid because it was a younger Doe and I didn't kill her. It was either hit her or swerve into oncoming traffic. She came jumping across the road... bounced on the hood left some scratches and a few dents...nothing too terrible, but no blood and only a couple of hairs. but State Farm was awesome!! They said they could tell by the scratches and the way of the dent that it was from a hoof. They paid it under our Comprehensive. I did have to pay my deductible and that was it. State Farm said they don't consider it a collision because you can't control wildlife...it's not like a tree or telephone pole or another car, even. I like their way of thinking! :thumbsup2 Kept me from losing my 40% accident free discount!!
I have been with state farm for over 30 years and yet to the same agent. I even saw him retire that was so sad. But we have a new agent and still with them. They have seen us through many things and they were wonderful. But we hold full coverage on all our vehicles.
