Can anyone recommend a place to stay at Deep Creek Lake? DH and I are going in a couple of weeks to celebrate our 11th anniversary. This is the first time we have gone away without the kids. Looking for a nice place, but we have never been to the area so we do not know where to look.

Thanks!!

Stay at the Wisp. There are actually very few hotels in Deep Creek. http://www.wispresort.com/

There is also The Silver Tree. http://www.suitesatsilvertree.com/ Great restaurant there too. They have the best crabcakes and cream of crab soup. We frequent the same restaurant in Frederick all the time.

And the only other hotel I can think of is The Inn at Deep Creek. http://innatdeepcreek.com/

For a nice anniversary dinner I recommend The Pine Lodge. Their chicken oscar is so awesome. :thumbsup2 http://www.pinelodgesteakhouse.com/

We go there just about every other weekend. If you have any other questions, just ask.

OH, need to add Brenda's Pizzeria to the food list too. It's also really close to Lakeside Creamery for dessert.

I second the Wisp. I attended a conference there. The accommodations were just like someone's home (it was someone's condo that they rent out), right on the lake. Beautiful view. The on-site restaurant was good, too. Meals were included for conference attendees so I didn't eat anywhere else nearby.

We have stayed at http://www.willothewisp.com//index.htm and really liked it. Right on the lake.

I second the Pine Lodge Steak House. The food is great!!!!

Just remember, with the altitude, it is much colder there. At least it is compared to where I live, which is about 2 hours east. My DS is working a few miles south of there right now, Caneen Valley, and 2 days ago he sent us a pic of snow!!!!

We went to school about 1 hour east of this (Frostburg) and still go back to the area. DH was just in western Maryland this past week. The weather varies but fall is absolutely lovely! Here's a picture from a short trail hike taken almost exactly a year ago.

Ahhhhh......one of my favorite places to visit, as it's even cool temps in the summer :thumbsup2! Sorry can't help you with place to stay, as the few times we've been our families got a big house/cabin together near lake. :goodvibes

klmall, thx for sharing your beautiful photos! We used to enjoy going over to nearby Frostburg campus when Redskins held their training camp several yrs back. Grands loved talking with them and getting autographs. :flower3:!

MickeyMom2Boys, hope you enioy and have a wonderful anniversary celebration trip :lovestruc. In a couple weeks should be perfect timing for colorful foliage. pixiedust:
