Decorating your resort room?

We will be staying at SSR in a studio(for the first time with our new DVC ) for the 4th of July and was thinking of decorating in a red,white, and blue theme. Was thinking of doing Mickey heads in red,white,and blue with construction paper and putting magnets on the backs for our door. And then putting red,white,and blue lights on our balcony or patio(whichever we have). Any other ideas of what to do? Have always stayed at POP or POR, and are not sure what to do at SSR since it is a DVC? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also, I have read on this thread all doors are metal, is that true even at the DVC's?

Hey everyone! Your designs are wonderful!!! We are going June 15-20 and I can't wait to decorate our window! I plan to scour all the Dollar Trees in our area for window clings and Home Depot for the Mickey heads! I also plan to place a white board on the door! If any of you are at ASM drop us a line! Wow! There are some super ideas on here. The hamster in my head is already running on that dusty wheel. I will be there Nov. 28 - Dec 6 and will post some pics of our windows when I return. We have already purchased a small tree and some ornaments but who knows what else I will add now.

We'll be at ASMu during that time too! I'll be looking for your decorations! Look for mine too!

These are great ideas, we are going 4/21-4/28 and I think the kids will get a kick out of decorating. I'll be at SSR and will have Mickey Ears on my door, hope you guys come by and sign them

I can't wait to decorate not only my door at ASMovies, but the door on the Disney Wonder. I am going on my dream vacation and now I have something to keep me busy for the 44 days until we leave. THANK YOU ALL! You have amazing ideas. I'm headed to Home Depot tomorrow. I'll take my six year old and he can steal the mickey heads for me. HEE HEE!!

Now I have until September to dream up ways to decorate our window, and I've gotten some great inspiration from this thread. I'm hoping for a Pirate/Halloween theme, and I am scouring our now Dollar Tree for stuff, but to no avail. I'll keep looking!

Realized I never posted this after going back through the thread. This is what I did for my friends door for her Bday back in October last year.... used my cricuit, LGMH and freehand. Think she still has it

Yup, I still have it, it made the flight back to Boston, and is carefully rolled and stored till I can figure out what I want to do with it.....it was an awesome surprise to find that on my door.

Oh... found the castle at Hobby Lobby... not sure what I will do with it or how since I am at DVC and no large windows like at the values/mods. Could do on sliding door if on ground level though... or maybe adjust to accommodate the door to room??? any ideas?

I haven't started reading this entire thread yet but I plan to so if this has been asked before I apologize. I know a lot of people decorate their windows at POP but on our next trip we will be at POR. I would love to do it this time but do others do it there also?

Will try this again.... Yes they do and have seen many decorate there. First time I had ever seen it done was at POR. Saw just a few the one time I stayed at Pop. Even the DVCs do it, just more to balconies than to doors it seemed. I am planning to do for my big May trip and have done for Christmas and Halloween for first time this past year.

Well, after reading some of these posts I'm thinking of possibly decorating when we go in Nov. But, I'm sort of thinking I must be crazy! I was surprised to read some people talking of decorating and wondering what they were talking about and then one day I found this thread. I haven't read all the pages yet but it sounds fun but... I worry about taking up extra space in my already stuffed luggage. And I know I will be Grumpy about having to take it down at the end of the trip. Just something more to do while trying to leave and something to reinforce that I'm leaving and don't want too so it will make me more sad!

So I was wondering, if it's okay to ask here, why do people decorate? Some seem to really put a lot into it so I'm wondering, with so much to do and so much going on, why do you take time for this? My DD17 and I always stay at CBR and unfortunately I've never ever seen any decorated rooms, other than stuffed animals in windows that the mousekeeping do. I wish I had, I'm sure I would have been excited to see them and thought they were pretty cool! Really curious how this all got started!

I'm not sure how all the decorating got started but we LOVE it! We don't get as into it as others (we're not that crafty) But I love seeing other windows. My mom thought it was great this year because she didn't have to remember the room number. She just looked for the flashing lights on the window. My kids love to pick out things that represent them for the window and its all part of the planning now. I really liked it when other Dissers signed our door and left messages.

for those of you who have made the streamers with the mickey head paint chips...how exactly did you do it? I'm having trouble figuring out how I should go about doing it. Did you put a hole in the top middle and then but the string/ribbon through it and tie it?
