Decorating your resort room?

This is a great thread!! I'm going to get some Halloween window clings for our trip. It's also DD's birthday trip, so I thought it would be neat for her if I put up a big "card" or something on the door and let people sign their names and where they're from and it could be a neat souvenir. Do you think this is a dumb idea? If you saw a birthday card on another person's hotel door would you sign your name on it? I'm scared somebody would ruin it by writing something nasty on it.

I agree with fintastic...great thread! I had completely forgotten that people decorate their rooms because it's been almost four years since our last trip! And I think having a birthday card to sign is a totally sweet idea, maybe even have a few put up, that way if there is someone writes something bad on one (which really makes me mad that someone would do that on a Disney vacation) you can just not use that one. Or maybe use scraps of colored paper for people to sign so you can weed out any "bad" ones?

Thank you all for reminding me of yet ANOTHER thing that makes me smile all over when I visit Disney World. I think this year we'll be packing some Halloween decorations in our luggage. I haven't read the whole thread yet so this question could have been answered already but:

What do you use to put up decorations on windows/doors so they don't mar the surfaces and don't create a headache for the hard-working maintenance and cleaning staff? Is there a specific kind of tape that is best?

I love love love the idea of the mickey head paint chips!! I am definitely swiping that one :)

I just used regular scotch tape and it didn't leave a mark at all. I took it all down the night before we checked out and I had stuff to clean the window if it made any marks....but it didn't. :thumbsup2 I would NEVER leave a mess for someone else to clean up (must be the mom in me...LOL!)

I saw you there. LOL I will have the pictures of my room up in a little while. I was just surprised there was not to many rooms done at all stars sports. we already booked for next year at POP hope more people do there windows at pop last time I was there there were quite a few. well I will get them pics up soon

I agree. Only "window decoration" I saw when I was there the first week of Sept was a terrycloth Donald Duck in a window... We didn't decorate our window (didn't take along anything....) but someone came by and scrawled "Mickey Mouse" in the condensation on the window.... Wonder if it was our neighbors who I'd scrawled "HI" on theirs.... :lmao: :rolleyes1

PS: I did see alot more decorating over at Pop last year.... wonder if it's just a "Pop thing".... ;)

Not going till Feb but already have red lights. Tip anyone going in Feb pick up christmas red lights afer Xmas when they are onsale!!

If it's a "Pop" thing then I definitely need to decorate for Halloween, cause that's where we'll be!

And I didn't even think about bringing cleaning stuff with me in case of leaving schmutz on the window/door...thanks Kaler!

I bought the little suction cups and used that on our last trip. It worked great. You just punch a hole in the top of whatever you are hanging and slip it right on the hook. Good luck.

I leave in 7 days!! I can't wait to decorate! If you are flying do you put most of your decorations in your carry on so that you can decorate right away? I have some pictures and things printed out and have orange lights. I also have a ton of Mickey Heads fro HD. Oh and I just found a Mickey Mouse Halloween flag that I forgot was in my basement!!

Joann's has Xmas and Halloween clings.

WE just got back from All Star Sports last week. We had decorated our window and door with mickey heads. I made a Ghost that said please sign a mickey head. I had quite a few signed. Took old ones off and added new ones each morning. It was great fun! I don't know if I took a pic of our window now. I know I did of the door, but I am not sure of the window.. oh dear!

I'll post the pic of my door shortly.

Our experience at Pop Century 3 weeks ago: I put a small white board on our door and asked people to sign it. Lots of people wrote really nice messages, such as "We're from __________", "Celebrating our twins 3rd birthday", "We're engaged", etc.

But then, some jerk wrote a not so nice message AND stole the cap of the marker so that it dried out and no one could use it.

I was very disappointed with the unDisneylike behavior!

So, to answer your question, I'd also be afraid that someone would ruin it. I'd do as other people have suggested and have individual pieces of paper.

It's really sad that some people have to be so mean as to spoil things for others. :confused3

I have made some cute magnetic signs for our trip in October. I would like to take two or three to put on the outside of our room door.

Does anyone know if the doors at BW Villas are metal so that we could use the magnets?

I hit paydirt- I found Alien Green and Mickey Black Mickey heads at Home Depot!!!!!
