Hello people who have ever decorated their resort room!

I really want to work on decorating our resort room for the first time. I can't read all of the first thread (though I'd like to). So can any kind loving person out there summarize this thread? I really need some of the best ideas! I am fresh out of my own. HELP!!!:headache:

Basic things used on windows are.....

Window Clings
Lights
Streamers
Mickey Mouse paint chip heads
Suction Cups/magnets

Top things not to use...

Window chalk/paint
Tape
Glue

Window Clings are great!
We made up our own computer generated group pix of us all in Mickey houses, sized and all...so many compliments.....and so darn cute if I do say so myself!!:rotfl2:

I have a red tablecloth for the dining table. I plan on setting the table with black paper plates and yellow flatware. I love the Mickey Parts Plates but they are pricey and heavy for the valuable suitcase space. So going with that color theme it will be a cheaper alternative plus it will be handy for in room meals and snacks.

I made signs/decorations and magnets for the door. I wanted to be able to scrapbook notes from other DISers so I have been picking up note cards and made a mailbox so I can get DISmail.

Window clings are by far the best. We also get wreath hangers and hang a decoration that befits the season on the door. Metal ones not plastic, sometimes the plastic is to thick. When we went at Christmas time, I purchased a 3ft tree, placed the tree on the table after I pulled the table to the window, made my own non breakable decorations, then I put a few presents and small Disney stocking with gift cards for the kids to have a semi normal Christmas morning, then headed out to the parks.

Obviously we did not need the table for meals.

How did you make a mailbox?? I need details and directions!! :)

I made two different ones because the first one is too narrow for a full size note card and the magnetic paper I put on the back isn't strong enough to hold the weight of the box but is really cute.
I started with an empty Mac & Cheese box then cut down on to the hight I wanted on the front and right & left side leaving the back its full hight so I could fold it down to make the lid. Once I had it folded I trimmed of the extra cardboard. Next I covered the upper 2/3 of the box with black cardstock and the remaining bottom portion with red cardstock, added 2white cardstock circles for buttons. Then I used yellow alphabet stickers to spell out "Mickey Mail" on black paper then put the on a larger red paper to from a border. Lastly, I covered it with clear contact paper.

The other is more of an envelope made out of cardstock and attached with strong double-sided tape decoraded with stickers and covered with contact paper.

Cute idea! Do you have any pictures of them? I'd love to see some :goodvibes. Do you have instructions on how to make these? We're doing a Grand Gathering in November/December and have 4 rooms -- that would be super cute to do for everyone! TIA :)

At first I didn't know that people decorated resort rooms either!:lmao: But once I came across the thread about it. . .

I was hooked!:rotfl2:

We're going the week after Thanksgiving, and we'll be celebrating Christmas and exchanging gifts with my brother and his girlfriend on the trip, because we won't see them for Christmas. I'm thinking of packing a small 12-18 in. tree and some homemade paper ornaments (Disney, of course!). I know my husband will think I'm nuts. :rotfl: But I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

oh dear, I SOOOOOOOO shouldn't have read this thread.

Have just been on ebay and bought a tonne of garlands, window clings etc he heeee
