We had a gty cabin and were just assigned #1042 on Deck One. How is that deck? It looks like there are very few staterooms on that deck which may cut down on noise, and it is also near the medical center. This is our first cruise. TIA!

Deck 1 is fine. We have stayed there a few times. All the DCL passenger deck are decorated the same. You are in a great location for returning to the ship after being in port...just walk down the hall...no elevators to deal with!! It is also just a 2 flights away from all that goes on in the Atrium like character meet and greets, other activities, shore excursion desk and guest services deck. Your oceanview cabin will have 2 portholes.

And don't worry....the cabins on Deck 1 and 2 are NOT under the water line which some believe is true!!!

Have a great cruise!!!

MJ

Enjoy!!!

We loved that deck! Had Staterooms 1074 and 1076 for our first cruise and chose the same two staterooms for our 2nd cruise! We found it very quiet. :thumbsup2

Thank you both! It better not be under the water line LOL because we have a gty OCEAN view stateroom and I don't want to see the ocean from below! ;)

I liked Deck 1 also. Just be aware that your port holes may be 2 smaller portholes instead of one big porthole.

Deck 1 for me every time. This year I declined a secret porthole room (which I experienced last year for the first time) as we much preferred deck 1 due to much less noise.

We have stayed on deck one and loved it! You can't walk bow to stern on deck one, so just be aware of that. If you use the bow elevators or stairs, there is a door situation that is a tad bit funky - kind of a dog leg thing - to get to your hallway. Once you figure that out, you're fine. It is quiet.

We had room 1040 on our 11 night Mediterranean cruise and loved it! I didn't think we would since we have always stayed on deck 5 or 6. It was great when we got back from our excursions. The only thing we forgot a few times was that you cannot take the aft elevators to deck 1.

We are just off the Magic and our GTY12 was upgraded to a Deck 1, Cabin 1044.

I have to be honest to say I was concerned about being down there, although we had also been on Deck 2, but it was actually a great location.

Easy to get to Guest Services and everything going on - also the Theatre shops and restaurants. Straight up to the Goofy Pool,

It was quiet, with very little foot flow and coming back from excursions, we could nip right to the room, before getting our stuff and heading off to the pool, without double backing on ourselves, or waiting for elevators.

On Deck 2 the kids from Ocean Quest would run around and you could often hear them screeching (not a major problem to be honest), but it made us realise just how pleasant it was down there.

We loved having a large window, but would have no qualms of being down there again and I may be tempted to book a Deck 1 in future.

We were on Deck 1 in Oct and loved it! I often joked about sleeping down with the produce but it was very quite. As others have said, it's very easy for getting on and off the ship at ports. We also figured out that the elevators must default to deck 1 because we were always able to get an elevator quickly. Also, alot of the entertainers stayed there and we met a few of the comedians and hypnotist (sp) and have kept communication with them.
