Decided to buy!

I'm so excited! I visit Disney World each year for a trade conference, and always wanted to buy into the DVC. It's taken me four months of reading and planning and mulling to make the decision, but I'm finally going for it!

After a brief call with the sales folks (and no, I'm not calling them "guides"), I had all my questions answered. Here's some information gleaned from the conversation:

* Different states have different inventories, at least for the BCV. I live in California, and as of right now, there is *no* inventory for use years before February. That's right December is sold out, at least for California buyers. My sales rep is verifying that no additional inventory will be released or transferred from other states before I make the purchase for a February use year. So, one could assume that the sales people may have not been stretching the truth too much when they have been telling folks that BCV is nearing sell out.

* As of today, transferring points to the Conceirge Collection will cost $95. All other transfers are still $75.

I can't wait for my first trip, even though I'm using Magical Beginnings and it will be quite some time away!

That's very interesting...I bought a BWV resale so I haven't had to deal with my guide too much until just recently when I contacted her about adding on. What was the reason for different states having different use year inventories? Why does it matter what state you live in when you purchase (besides the fact that if you live in certain states, purchasing over the phone isn't allowed)? I'm just curious.

Congrats!!! We bought BCV just a few weeks ago with a December use year. I don't know if it has anything to do with your state or if they are selling like gangbusters and the Decembers are just all gone. Use year didn't really matter to us that much anyway. Oh well, WELCOME!!!

Well, being a native Californian, all I can tell you is that this state loves to regulate the heck out of anything that may have appeared to be shady in the past. Even things that weren't shady, they'll still regulate the heck out of it.

There's a good reason that when you mention the word "timeshare" to people, their skin starts to crawl.

So, I imagine that California, and I suspect other states as well, have some red tape process that has to be completed before any timeshares are sold. So, Disney probably allots a certain amount of points for that red tape process and sells it as California inventory.

Of course, this is all speculation. I would love to get December use year, but I'm just happy that I am getting into BCV before they truly are sold out!

I also forgot to mention that 80% of my decision was made with the help of you great folks! What an amazing little community here! In the final analysis, all that went through my head was, if there's that many people on that message board that are happy with their purchase, then I should have no second thoughts!
