December waitlist experiences

I admit that I am one of those SSR owners who always stays at other resorts. Anyway, I just called in to MS to change my December 20-25 reservation to another resort. As I've been warned, this is a very popular time for DVC members to vacation. There are currently no studios available at BCV, BWV, or WLV. They had plenty of one bedrooms available but I don't want to burn the extra points. I put myself on the waitlist and will see what happens. Does anyone here have past experience with a December waitlist? Did you eventually have your waitlist come through? I guess if worse comes to worse, I'll use my original reservation at SSR. At least I'll be in Disney World during the Holidays.

What about AKV?

We're SSR owners, but last year we were able to get a studio at AKV for Dec. 20-26...no problem.

To me, AKV are no different than SSR. I want to stay at a resort which prevents me from taking the bus to all the parks. I can walk or boat to EPCOT and DHS when staying at BWV and BCV. If staying at WLV, I can boat to the Magic Kingdom. We have a 15 month old daughter and the buses are a major pain having to break the stroller down and usually not having a seat.

Like you, I am an owner at SSR, and, like you I want to change my current studio ressie at SSR (12/25 - 1/2) to OKW studio for the same time period. Anybody have any idea of my chance at this?

We did this for December '04 and again in '06. Our home resort is BCV, and one time I called in August and once in late September. Both of our wait lists came through for a studio at BCV. You are way ahead of where we were so you will probably be fine. I had MS book the rooms as they came available (individual days). Good luck! We love Disney at Christmas!

When you discussed with Member services about your week.. where there one bedrooms avl. at Boardwalk.. I currently have a reservation for SSR for the 12-21-12-27 and was hoping to move to Boardwalk to get close to Hollywood studios.. my son is a huge power ranger fan..

I just got thru booking a day by day ressie last week for Dec. 17-23rd....got BWV STD view studio for 1st part of trip but had to move to 1BR for last 2 nights. Was THRILLED to get std view to save pts & waitlisted for last 2 (or 1 night) studio. HOPE it comes thru but all STUDIOS were booked starting 12/21.

Actually had to book a BW BWview for the 1st night & waitlist it but std studio had come thru by the time I was finished booked day by day. Really didn't want to move 2 x but will live w/one move in the same resort --at least I'd have laundry done before going home!

understand.. just off with MS and all they had avl. for my timeframe was a 1BDRM prefeered view.. think I will stick with my SSR reservation.. not worth the more points for BWV's prefered ( standard view was a point saving, so that intrigued me also)... but will call and check again..

I also had great luck this year with switching. We were booked at SSR from 12/17-12/26. I called day-by-day and got a studio at VWL for almost all of those days. I do have a 1 bedroom for the 22nd but confident a studio will come through. When I started I was waitlisted from the 18th-26th and obviously they all come through super fast. Good luck!!

I would say that if you are thinking of changing do it as soon as you can (meaning the date of the 7 month window)
make it. We changed our res for 12/7-12/26 yesterday no problem but we always get a two bedroom.
