Thanks for putting me in a group! I will volunteer to be the leader of group 11 if I may ask for assistance from the other leaders to make sure I plan everything right. I read that pre-ordering the cd can save- can I do that and just not add photos until everyone in the group is ready?

Hi Megan,

Yes, you can pre order the CD. When you do it you will need to set up the account so the information is ready. The account stays in an active state waiting for the uploads.

You will get confirmation emails from Disney. Save them as you need the code for the pre order price.

Megan, I messed up. There was a group short on 2 people so you have now been added to that group. I would start a new group with you as leader, but I have decided to close the thread to new joiners. All the groups are full and collecting money.

At this point we have time to send money and get all our ducks in a row before the holiday season starts with Thanksgiving. We are all going to be busy pulling Christmas off this year (this is my first Christmas away ever, I am intimidated).

The thread will continue for us to post to each other and answer questions.

I hope everyone is paying attention to the reminders NOT TO UPLOAD early or create your own Photopass account!!!

Hi Robin,

I am going to release all the log in information the day I leave on the 14th. Everyone who went before us can then upload. I will also not be back at the ranch until the 23rd and uploading after laundry, cleaning, and rest. Most likely Christmas.

The first upload is when the clock starts. We have 30 days from Dec. 14th. I am sure we will be done quickly and I want to order our CD's right after Christmas. I noticed last time it took longer than I thought to get the CD's. DH needs about a week to burn and for me to get them all out. I think safely right after New Years to get them, middle of Jan they should be at everyone's house!

You go to the place in each park (WDW or DL) where you can purchase photos. At DL, there's a camera shop at the end of main street (unless it's moved), and at DCA, it's in the large shop close to the entrance. I think it has "Greetings" in the name. You can give them your photopass card(s) and they'll pull up your pictures. I'd suggest going at a time when it's not busy (i.e. not near park closing) and just let them know you want to check the photos to be sure they're coming out OK because you plan to purchase the CD after you return home. Have fun!

Hi April, Please know I am asking this in the nicest way.. I have never done photopass before so you are the expert. Will having such a large group make it harder for us to find our photos on the DVD? Will you be providing each group with their own family only on the DVD since now we have 13 people in our group. Being that I have not purchased photo pass before I have no idea what to expect. Thanks for putting this together and being our leader.

I also noticed in your reply that you will be ordering right after Christmas. I would like to have a sometime to edit our photos and I will not be able to begin until December 26th since we will return on the 23rd. I would like to have a week to edit the photos which will be well before the deadline of January 14th. Is this going to be a problem? Robin

Hi Robin,
We have 30 days from the 1st upload so technically we will have until Jan 14 to edit and upload. I am setting goals but you will have time to upload and edit. I am sure with both of us getting back so late and Christmas our upload might take a bit.

As for how large our DVD is going to be and finding your photos. Yes, it is going to be large! You will get a DVD with everyones photos on it. Of course you will see your family. I will not be separating out each family. I think DH would kill me if I even asked.

When you get your DVD just click your pictures and then save them to your Hard Drive. Then you can burn them back to CD's to share with family and friends. Or email them out. You will have your family on your computer via the DVD. I would say to keep the DVD just in case you ever have a computer crash.

Last question for now... Will our family be in one group together on the disc or am I going to have "hunt and find" the pictures amongst all the others. Such as I find all our pictures all mixed up together with everyone elses... like one on page 1 one on page 20 etc.

I'll try to help. The photos on the CD will be in the order that they show up on the online account. The order of the photos on the online account will be determined by how they're uploaded. Each photo is assigned a sequential number on the online account. A family's photos may be grouped together or they may be mixed with another family depending on when the photopass cards were added to the online account.

If someone waits until after their trip is over to add their photopass cards, then their photos will show up together in a group (for example, maybe pictures 200-400). The photos may have been taken over the course of a week or so, but the expiration date of the photos on the online account will all show the date they were uploaded.

If someone adds their photopass card while they're at WDW (say they have a laptop with them), then their photos will be uploaded gradually each day when Disney quality control releases the photos. If another family is also at WDW at the same time and has added their photopass cards, then these 2 family's photos will be mixed together. The expiration date of the photos will be the date they were uploaded, which will be varied dates throughout their trip. We uploaded while we were at WDW, and we noticed that some would show up online the night they were taken, and some would be delayed until the following day.

One very good thing is that when you make an edit to a photo to add a border or icon, it creates a copy and give it a sequence number just after the original photo. So, if you edit photo 100, then it will be saved as photo 101. This makes it relatively easy to tell if you've already made an edit to a photo.

In my experience, I'd estimate that someone on an average week long trip will end up with between 300 & 500 photos (included the edited ones). Obviously, some will have more and some will have less. Each photo is 2 meg, and Disney puts 300 photos on a CD. Based on this, I'd estimate the large group with 13 families may have about 5500 photos on their online account! I had a group with 5 families, and we ended up with 1900 photos. I can tell you that the photos at the end (mine) took a while to get through on the online account to display them and work with them. 5500 photos could be a total storage of 11000 meg (or 11 gig, right?). Disney would be sending 19 CD's for this many photos. How much fits on a DVD? I looked at some we have, and it looks like 4.7 gig, so I guess this would take 3 DVD's to fit them all. That doesn't sound as bad as I thought it might be.

Let me know if there's any more questions. I was able to identify the pics from the different families in my group even though 3 families were intermingled, and each family only received a small number of photos that weren't theirs. But I only had 5 families, and they were relatively easy to identify...
