December Back up plan

With the 23rd fast approaching, I am trying to formalize my plans.
I know my first choice of dates already has some issues at the VGF (where I just bought)
The plan:
12/1-12/6 studio ( i can chop it down to 12/5)
12/8-12/11 studio

(if the availability is so limited, I can push the entire trip back my one week)

If I have trouble with either, are there better other dvc resorts to try?
Some of my stay will be at the VGF if it kills me, but if I have to split the two stays between 2 different resorts, I'll live.

Think I would be able to get either (studios)

Beach Club Villas
Animal Kingdom (Savannah view)
V Wilderness Lodge

this close in?

Or am i dreaming and have my back up plan be cash for accomodations

Your best bet for backup at that time is SSR but even that can have spotty availability at this point for the first 2 weeks of December. You should be able to reserve your times at VGF now - if you can't do it online then call member services. If you have given a deposit then you can reserve. You will want to reserve before the 23rd.

My guide called wed to confirm my purchase and congratulate me. He told me that new members could not make reservations until sunday, 9 am.

Ill call then, and hope for the best. I wouldn't use the points at SSR....Id just go again a month or two later, or waitlist something

VWL is very popular during the Winter holiday season. Good luck in your search.

I just looked and you might have a problem getting into anywhere else then VGF.

Examples:

OKW has only 12/1 for a studio available
SSR has 12/1 -> 12/4 for a studio available
BCV nothing 12/1-> 12/6 for a studio
BWV nothing 12/1 - > 12/6 for a studio
WLV only 12/4 for a studio
BLT only 12/4 for a lake view studio
AKV has 12/1 and 12/3 at Jambo house savanna view for a studio and 12/4 at Kidani for a standard view studio and 12/3 at Jambo for a standard view

The first few weeks in December are VERY busy for DVC resorts so you will probably just have to go with waitlists and hope that something comes through, good luck.

The standard studio at VGF is currently only available from 12/1-12/5 & 12/9-12/11.
The lake view studio is open for 12/1-12/3 & 12/10.

Let me remind everyone that we do not encourage members to post availability. It is pointless, it changes constantly, and what is there now may be different 5 minutes from now.

jerseyduke - If your early December time frame is important, you might consider a 1 bedroom at one of the other DVC resorts if you are willing to do a split stay. Those fill more slowly than the studios and would have more availability than studios. I doubt it will help for VWL or BLT or BCV, but you may have some luck at the others.
