My DBF and I went to Garden Grill in December and we loved it. The character interaction was better than any other character meal I've been to. The food was very good too. We both opted for worms and dirt for desert though as we aren't blueberry fans. The food was somewhat similar to what you got at LTT Character dinners, but MUCH better! We highly recommend GG as a great character meal! The food is decent and the character interaction is great. We also love the setting and that it rotates!

LTT is a Thanksgiving/Christmas type meal. And it's all you can eat:goodvibes Too bad they got rid of the characters. The food is still good.

Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner) never eaten here but I have heard good things.

Les Chefs de France (lunch)This is one of our new favorite places to eat and a must do from now on. We ate here in May and it was one of the best

Rose and Crown Pub (dinner) this serioulsy was the worst meal I have ever had on Disney property we left without even finishing our food. The service was the absolute worst as well. I don't get how you can screw up a burger or fish and chips but they managed to very badly! We left hungry and we will never go back even for the view of illuminations I wouldn't go back.

The Garden Grill (dinner) The food really isn't my cup of tea fried cat fish not something I am ever going to eat

Boma (breakfast) depending on where you are staying it can take a long time to get here it took us over an hour from MK in the morning waiting for a bus

Love, love, love Le Chefs de France for lunch; I had the french onion soup and a crepe with smoked chicken strips, peppers and onions with a wonderful side salad.

Love Rose and Crown Pub; but have only been for lunch. I had the potato and leek soup and an apple and stilton salad. Yum.

For a buffet at the Biergarten, you cannot go wrong. Great atmosphere. Between the bratwurst and the spaetzle alone, I tried stuff I have never tried before!

Yak and Yeti for dinner; first time last year and one of my favorites now. Pork egg rolls with plum sauce ( I am envisioning it now), and the maple tamarind chicken, with coconut ginger rice and baby bok choy. Yummo! Also get the fried wontons for dessert with a glass of plum wine. Don't forget to try the sake.....

I am doing Boma the first time for dinner this year; looking forward to it.

BlueZoo - fabulous.....I did two apps, so I could have the dessert. The hearts of romaine salad had these fabulous garlic chips, and the flatbread was fantastic. The dessert called just "1000", was a caramelized puff pastry napolean, with a mango sauce and grand marnier cream on top with a side of orange sorbet. To die for.....

Enjoy!

We just came back from our trip 3 days ago, so I'll go ahead and chime in on the ones we ate at!

Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner)
We ate here for dinner the first night and for lunch the last day and enjoyed both - the dinner was by far my DH's favorite meal while there....the turkey is "real" turkey breast, not a "loaf"..:lmao: and the ham and flank steak are quite tasty too!!

For lunch my DH and oldest DS got the hamburger and we were suprised that they actually asked us how they wanted their burgers cooked - every other place just brought out one "well, well done"...DH said it was good!! I got the turkey (again) b/c it was just too darn good to pass up a 2nd time!

Les Chefs de France (lunch)
We ate here for lunch as well and I really enjoyed it - my DH wasnt as "pleased" - but he picked a salad for an appetizer (we were on the DxDP) and I got the onion soup which was DELICIOUS!! and he was jealous..and we all go the ham & cheese sammies which had tasty cheese on it, but only 1 piece of ham, which was kinda skimpy..Ive heard that there are LOTS of other tasty items on the menu and I'd go back but get something else..oh, and the vanilla creme brule..YUMMY YUM YUM!!!

(my DH was also upset b/c my oldest DS (11) was having "clogged up tummy issues" and spent most of the lunch in the bathroom...which he wasnt pleased about - and right after lunch we ended up leaving the park for the day....:sad2:)

The Garden Grill (dinner)
We ate here in 2009 and the boys (who were 7 & 9 at the time) LOVED the character interaction, but we hated the food - it just wasnt good - but I've also read that others loved the food..so, Im not sure what to say except we didnt go back this year....:confused3

Biergarten (dinner)
We were supposed to have dinner here the same night we had lunch at Les Chefs - but after the lunch fiasco, DH suggested we just stay at the hotel and swim/rest so that's what we did - but I was SO looking forward to it!!

Yak & Yeti (dinner)
We've had lunch here the last 2 trips - and LOVE IT!! my boys (11 & 8) also enjoy it...

Boma (breakfast)
We had b'fast here the day we went to the AK - and we had a car, and its a good thing we did - we stayed at the WL, and since there are no buses running from property to property, we would have had to have taken a bus from WL to AK and then from AK to AKL for Bona - and our ADR was for 7:30am!! that would have been crazy!!

But the b'fast was very good!! my boys thought the "juice" was too sweet, but they enjoyed all the items they got off the buffet - and then we had a good time looking around the lobby & savannah viewing area..I thought that staying there would be nice, but let me tell you, when we left the lobby and went out to the savannah viewing area....

the SMELL....:scared1:...could have knocked you over!! I guess no one sits on their balcony out there!!

I think you have some great ADRs - and a few places that we havent tried yet and that I have on my list for our next trip!!

I ate at Chefs de France both times I went to EPCOT this year and both times it was excellent. I had the chicken the first time (amazing) and then the filet the second (also very good). I had the seasonal sorbet for dessert and I couldn't get enough. My boyfriend liked it as well.

We tried Yak & Yeti this time and were very impressed. Though it seems like regular American Chinese food, it is much better. We both ate our entire meal (which is hard to do on the DDP with all the food they give you) and we both want to go back to try the other dishes we didn't get. I would definitely go here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Oh and Wolfgang Puck Cafe was delicious. The food was awesome and the portions were really big. Also, if you are on the DDP it is considered a counter service, but our bill was $50 so it is a very good deal with very good food.

We have an 8:20 ADR with IllumiNations at 9:30 pm. I was "hoping" to get one of the coveted views of IllumiNations. With the bad service I have read on other threads, I figured with a 8:20 ADR, we probably won't get seated until closer to 8:50 pm. :rotfl: We love the fish and chips from the Yorkshire County Fish shop. However, I've been told the fish and chips at the Rose & Crown isn't as good as the counter service. How is that possible??????

Boma (breakfast) depending on where you are staying it can take a long time to get here it took us over an hour from MK in the morning waiting for a bus

:thumbsup2 We'll be staying at the Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House. So, Boma is right downstairs.

:flower3: Thanks for the reviews!!!!

It must be the same over-sweet juice we got at our Tusker House breakfast during our last trip. :headache: I'll make sure the kids get milk. :thumbsup2

Have a good trip in December!

At Garden Grill they dont do fried catfish, it is now Mahi Mahi. They also have beef and turkey. I didn't care for the beef, but the mahi mahi and the turkey were good!

I can give you a couple of reviews...

Chefs De France - We really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the french onion soup. I had the chicken which was a little too "herby" for me, but fine. DH had the macaroni au gratin (macaroni and cheese) which was delicious! I was so jealous of his meal. Creme brulee was excellent. I think there are options for those who enjoy French food, and there are options for those who are less adventurous.

Jiko - I tend to mention it a lot on these boards but Jiko is my favorite restaurant anywhere on earth! We love it so much! We have had almost the same meal each time we've been there - the taste of Africa (various dips and breads) the oak grilled fillet and macaroni and cheese (heaven on a plate!) and one of the desserts (last trip I had the trio which was a chocolate lava cake, caramel ice cream and something else I can't recall right now, we've also had the pistachio creme brulee which is really good) I can't recommend Jiko enough!

Hope that helps! Enjoy your trip! :)

Of the ones you want reviews on I can help with a few:

Liberty Tree Tavern - I really prefer this place for lunch, which is excellent, but dinner is pretty good too

Biergarten - good food, excellent atmosphere, and a lot of fun!!

Rose & Crown - eh, I'm in no hurry to go back - I found the fish to be very rubbery

Yak & Yeti - went for lunch but I believe the menu is the same all day - fantastic!!!! One of my favorite restaurants at WDW:thumbsup2

At Garden Grill they dont do fried catfish, it is now Mahi Mahi. They also have beef and turkey. I didn't care for the beef, but the mahi mahi and the turkey were good!

I love the mahi mahi and think it's a great replacement for the catfish - hope they stick with it!

Here are a few other thoughts:

Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner)
We all enjoy LTT, and our two pickiest eaters list this among their favorite restaurants. The family style items are all very good, and they serve a number of kids' items too.

Les Chefs de France (lunch)
This is one of our new favorites!! Loved the food, the atmosphere, the very friendly CMs and Remy was very fun. We tried this because our boys like Remy, but we would go back even if Remy does not continue there in the future. We had a great table by the window with a view of the water. Great lunch!

The Garden Grill (dinner)
This is our boys' favorite restaurant and our arrival night tradition. We really enjoy the food - salad and bread is great, meat is good and we all enjoy the potatoes. Kids have also liked the kids' items, and the kids always get a fun dessert (worms in dirt or make your own cupcake.) The character interaction is the best of any character meal we've tried. We usually see each character twice per meal, and they seem to spend a long time with our kids, compared to other meals and meet and greets. Our kids also like the rotating restaurant with views of the Land ride, and the semi-circle booths on the lower level of the restaurant. (We sat on the upper level just once and did not enjoy the atmosphere as much.)

Biergarten (dinner)
Fun, good food!! They seat everyone together at long tables, so it may depend on who you are sitting near. I've heard of some people really enjoying their table mates, and everyone having fun. We haven't been as fortunate (grumpy or complaining table mates,) so this is not on our regular rotation. But I thought the food was very good.

Have not been to the rest!

Here's what I would offer:

Chefs de France - Love it, especially for lunch!
Liberty Tree - Great comfort food.
Garden Grill - Weren't crazy about it at first, but was pleasantly surprised!
Yak & Yeti - Loved it!

Rose and Crown - I thought we were the only people that did not like it. I really do not ever want to go again. There were five of us and no one liked any of their entrees. Everything was either overcooked or "badly cooked." I so wanted this to be a good dinner - but it was not to be!

:surfweb: I have to admit, we browse the menu section of this site to make sure there are items on the menu we will eat. Sometimes, we already know what we're ordering before we step foot inside the restaurant. DH was horrified to find out they didn't serve the steak and mac & cheese anymore at Jiko. We have heard so many great things about it. How could they take it off the menu?!?!?!?! We found this hard to believe. So, DH actually called Jiko and they confirmed it IS still on the menu. Phew!

:goodvibes Jennifer

Do any of you listen to the DISUnplugged Podcast? Pete, the host, had a horrible meal at the Rose & Crown Pub just like the majority of the posts. I'm leaning towards cancelling the R&C ADR and just having the fish and chips from the counter service. We've had that before and it was very yummy! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews. Keep 'em coming! :surfweb:

:goodvibes Jennifer

You've got some great reservations Jennifer!

I think that Les Chefs De France is outstanding for Lunch. I'm a fan of both the Roasted Chicken as well as the Short Ribs.

I love the Jiko dinner as well. I'm glad they still have the filet w/mac and cheese. It is incredible!

Have a great trip!

Jason

We ate lunch at The Plaza. I was the only one who liked my sandwich. The kids and DH didn't hardly touch their meals. We ended up going over to Casey's to grab them some hot dogs and fries. Service was ok there but they were slow to refill our drinks too.

Sci Fi Diner for lunch is great. It's the kids and DH fav place to eat at DHS. I've liked everything I've ever tried there (5 times so far!). The movie clips keep the kids occupied and quiet. We had a fantastic server over Memorial Weekend. She was fast and kept the drink refills coming. She even introduced us to our "hitchhikers" and we had a great conversation with them. :rotfl:

We haven't eaten at any of your other choices. Yet.

You have some great places lined up! I have to say that the Sci-fi for lunch is absolutely perfect. We ate there in May and we really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. The shakes are so thick you have to eat them with a spoon and the Black and Bleu salad was so good. We also really like Boma for breakfast. There is a great selection of fruits, not just the regular strawberries and melon. I don't think you could go wrong with either!
