December 9, 2007 4 night

Coastgirl - How awesome!! That was a great idea and she will have it going on for the boarding pictures.

I am so glad that we will actually be home for the next four weekends! We do have a couple of local races but none out of town. In five weeks is the Nationals in Neece, South Carolina. Howard is so excited. He ended up finishing third in one class and fourth in the other in the MS State Series. He was invited to the nationals in both classes.

We were able to book an Illuminations Cruise on 12-8 with another disser. I am so excited. We loved it last year. It will be so special for the children.

I am really jealous sometimes of ya'll with the little ones and the BBB. I cant wait till we all get back to see all the special pictures of them. I wished they would have had that when Christie was young enough and willing to do it.

Hanna Montana's presale sold out in three minutes and the actual sale date in five minutes. I had two of my sisters, a nephew and myself all trying for tickets and no one was able to get any. I was upset because I felt liked I failed my DD and her friends but all is well. They were over it fast and started planning for the Jingle Bell Ball at the Peabody.

I thought you could only do Palo once?
You aren't allowed to have two dinner reservations, though, I know a lot of people are still able to squeeze their way in for more than one. You can do one brunch and one dinner.

Well we spent our weekend at the hospital with my mom. She had a double masectomy 2 years ago and last week they found a lession on her brain. For the next 5 weeks she will be have radiation. Please keep us in your thoughts.
So sorry to hear that.
I'll keep her in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!!

I am a very strong person and just need to let my guard down and cry!! She will be wearing some type of mask to keep her head stable to prevent her from bumping her head. I guess if she bumps her head she has written her death sentence. Her tumor (lession) is the size of a walnut and the swelling baseball size. This explains alot of confusion over the course of months. The doctor said that she was lucky she didn't bump it or sit down to hard because that would have been enough to kill her. On the scale of 1-10 her pain was an 11. I am not sure the outcome, either it is a big secret or they don't know. She will undergo 13 sessions of full head radiation and the remainder of the 5 weeks the radiation will target just the lession. Breast cancer is a horrible, horrible desease, it amazes me how many people I know that have had it---the odds that my mom got the tumor is only 8%. The tumor is breast cancer related therefore they are not doing surgery or biopsy at this time. Although the brain is one of the areas breast cancer attacks they do not scan womens brains as part of their routine checkups---that is so stupid, that needs to be part of it. Had she had a scan done maybe it could have been caught a long time ago.

My mom is 56, its just not her time.

Thanks for letting me vent and for your support!!!

PrincessDi - I am speechless. My heart aches for you. Just pray for her and love her. I will pray for all of you. I hope that everything goes alright. Please keep us informed.

Di, I'm so sorry to hear your mom's news. She'll be in my prayers.

Please everyone... you almost gave me a heart attack. The 25th isn't until Tuesday. I've yet to pay off our cruise and I almost keeled over.

PrincessDi - I hope things are going smooth as possible with your mother and you get some good news soon.

Elenita and everybody else - I hope you get what you want on Tuesday. Get up early and be ready if you are trying for Palo. I think everything else is fairly simple to get. If you dont get Palo dont fret. I wasnt able to get it last year but was able to once I boarded. I also got on the ship like at 1:00 so it wasnt early.

Has anyone heard from Kay? Maybe she is still traveling. I think she had a busy September planned with her sister.

Well my "wimpy" news is I have to have my tonsils out. I have had problems for some time now. I was suppose to get them out three years ago and chickened out the day before. Well, I have been hoarse since the first week of April. They have done two scopes and cant tell why because of the inflamation. So they are taking my tonsils out and doing a biopsy of my vocal cords on October 23. They wanted to do it next week but I cant because of schedule conflicts. I can be brave about alot of things but I am a downright chicken when it comes to this. Oh well he said I should be back to normal in two weeks.

MoTM, sorry to hear about your pending surgery. I've spent far too much time in the OR these past few years so I feel your pain. Here's hoping that all goes extremely, wonderfully well.

pixiedust: for a quick recovery!

Hi everyone -

First of all, so sorry many of you have been sick - pixie dust to everyone and hope you feel better real, real soon - it sure is no fun being sick - I know after 4 years of it. Just eat right and get lots of rest - very important

I am back from MIA - my life has been a world wind but it has been fun.

Geez, let me see = I flew into Salt Lake City to visit some friends, flew to DL w/o them and they ran the Marathon at DL - flew back into SLC and then flew home.

Then partially unpacked my s/case and repacked again and went on a Disney Cruise

Then the end of that week my sister came down and we had b/day partys sfor the g/babies and then she and I went on a Disney Cruise again and afterwards we came to my house for a while and then she flew home.

Now it is the end of the week again.

Was gonna cruise again on 9/30, but cancelled it 'cause I need to stay home for a while before I leave for two cruises back 2 backon Oct. 20th.

My little Cocker, Shelby, wonders why she keeps going to the overnight parties - :rotfl2:

Just found out this week that my son, Kim, will be home from Iraq in about less than 3 weeks. I am so so very happy about that. This is his 3rd time there and it will be his last deployment. He will be retiring after 20 + years in.

Here is a pic he sent us of him on Tuesday:

He does that to let us know that he is OK and well.

WOW - our cruise is right around the corner.

BTW: Is there anyone else who would like to hook up at dinner with us?????

Right now we have Crystan_27 at our table. If there are enough of us, we don't have to be at the same table, but at the ones in our group, right next to each other.

Let me know and I'll arrange it.

This would be for early dining. Between 5:30 and 6 pm

I'll be around for a while and keep up with the thread -

PS - I also love working at our local hospital as a Volunteer at the nursing netword and guardian office - crazy to say, but I love working and it has helped me so much to this point. Of course, I go in at 8:45 or so and leave at Noon - now that is the perfect job. Plus I get a free hot meal each day and it is cutting down on my grocery bill wonderfully. Didn't realize how much it would come in handy. Glad the Dr. gave me the OK to do that.

OK - up for the morning and off to feed my pet - she is patiently waiting.

oh man, you need to do it before 10/23 - waiting is horrid. Come have it done here and I'll nurse you back to health. I would, I would.

PrincessDi -

Thanks Kay and Elenita!

I have to wait because of Howards National race and Christies Birthday. I wanted to be sure to be in tip top health for these two events. I have the surgery the day after we get back from the nationals. I am glad of that because a busy weekend will keep my mind off of it. Honestly I am kicking myself in the tail for not doing it three years ago. The doctor made me promise "not to fly the coop" this time! I just went into freak out mode. I guess my fear is being put to sleep....I dont know. The good news is that is way before the cruise.

I certainly dont want to sound selfish when I know that many on our cruise have been though much worse and is going through worse right now. I pray for good health for all of us and our families.

I cant wait to see my childrens face when they find out about the trip.

MotM, general anesthetic is always unsettling...but good for you for getting it over with this time. Hoping for an easy time for you, and calm nerves.

So you haven't told the kids? I haven't either, but it's only been about 2 weeks and I'm already weakening! And of course dh and I have books about Fl and cruises all over the place...

We are telling them on the way to the airport after we check them out of school. We are only telling them about the land portion at that time. Then when they think we are on our way to the airport...they will see the ships and figure it out on their own. I am afraid if they know about the whole trip at once they will get anxious about the cruise and not enjoy the land to the fullest. I am going to let them believe it is a long weekend trip to WDW. I think PrincessDi is surprising her children also. You can do it. Believe me if I have kept it hush hush this long anyone can!!!!!! We have a practical library of disney books so my children wouldnt find that out of the ordinary.

Hello all! MOTM - so sorry to hear about your surgery, but hopefully your throat will be feeling so much better after you have the procedure! KRDB - my, my you have such a great travel schedule - I'm lucky to be getting away for one vacation a year - you GO girl!

I've been so busy during the past few months trying to keep my mind off of our trip. It's soooooooo difficult to wait. I've been reading up a lot on the "Land" part of our trip to try and keep myself in the know about the World. Anyway, I'll update my post after our "window" opens up to let everyone know what we got. We're going to try for Palo on our 10th anniversary, and I'm booking a massage/wrap for myself :cloud9: and I think that DH and I are going to do the surial bath :upsidedow. We've never done anything like that before, so it should be very interesting  . Anyway, please keep your cyber fingers crossed for all of us hoping for our various things.

Anyway, until we "chat" again, I hope everyone continues to do well!

So, did anyone get Palo brunch on the 75 day mark?

I made sure we were paid off yesterday so I could book ASAP on 75 days. (Ok, paid off is misleading--me and my Visa, but I'll pay it off at month's end at least.) Was checking before bed 11 pm Atlantic time, only 10 EST but hope springs eternal. Ds woke me around 2 so I popped out to the computer...got Palo for 7:30 on Monday, pretty much what I wanted, but no brunch at all, only an hour after it opened for booking. Or maybe it's just me! But even before I booked dinner, brunch was "greyed out" and showing no ressies avail.:confused3 Was hoping to avoid the booking desk on departure day, but if I get everything else done online, no big deal I guess. The more I tell dh the more excited he gets. (A couple of weeks ago, he was like, "I'm not paying an extra $20 when there's perfectly good food in the regular restaurants..." ;) )

The good news is, the Canadian dollar is at par with the US for the first time since the 70's. :cool1: Have been used to spending sixty-cent dollars in the US. Am I the only Canuck who's checked in? My cabin will be the one with the big maple leaf on the door!

Ds is having his first sick day of the school year so we are all still snuggled in our jammies. (Except dh, someone's gotta pay off the Visa!:lmao: )

It's feeling real, now, guys!! :yay:

So, did anyone get Palo brunch on the 75 day mark?

I was logged in at the stroke of midnight and the Palo brunch was greyed out for me too. I wasn't planning on attending, so it was not a no big deal to me. I did, however, get Palo dinner for our 10th anniversary night (12/12) at 6:30 p.m., which was exactly what I wanted. We also got the surial bath, which should be fun. :rotfl: Anyway, I'm glad that's done - I was worried about getting what I want. Now it's time to start shopping for the trip. :cheer2:

I was logged in at the stroke of midnight and the Palo brunch was greyed out for me too. [snip] Now it's time to start shopping for the trip. :cheer2:

Well, it's kind of good to hear it wasn't available even at midnight, so I can't beat myself up for getting some sleep!! Glad you got what you wanted too; I was debating that night also, but our anniversary was actually in July so it's kind of flexible at this point. ;) Glad you got the surial thing too!

Shopping. Oh, that could be pricey. Of course even the clearance summer stuff was gone before we decided we were going south this winter, and my kids insist on growing out of their clothes on a regular basis.

Ok, gotta be productive, but am feeling vacation-focussed this morning!

Well, I have good news and bad news.

I'll start with the bad: DS sprained his ankle pretty badly and ended up missing a week of school. As a result, I'm getting a LOT of pressure from his school about attendance. With that in mind, I feel that I really can't take him out from school for a week and a half in December for the cruise and the time we'll be at WDW prior to the cruise. Therefore, we won't be on the Dec 9th sailing of the Wonder.

The good news: we'll be on the Feb 17th sailing, during President's Week. Due to the crazy high airfares, I will take him out of school for 3 days (hey... I'm compromising here... and this is MY vacation as well and I have to fit it not only into my work schedule but my chemo schedule).

This will probably be the last year I'll be pulling him from school at all for vacations. They've made it amply clear that all absences and tardy arrivals go on their record for high school applications! The fun begins!

Have a wonderful cruise, everyone! I'll be looking for your trip reports.

Sorry to hear about your boy, and the wrecked plans. Glad you managed to work something else out, but pffffft to the school for giving you a hard time. Wishing you all good health and a fabulous time in Feb.
