December 9, 2007 4 night

Wow it sounds like so much is going on in everyones lives that we will all benefit from a little R & R--the closer it gets the more excited I am.

The kids and I planned a little shopping trip the week of December 9th; probably to Denver but the kids said that we could surprise them. They were more than willing to take some days off at school. The goofballs went and asked DH if he thought he could take time off of work to go with:rotfl2: The kids will be so blind sided when they find out the jokes on them:lmao: Now that I got it figured out how we are going to get them to Denver to the airport and out of school so they can be caught up with homework before we go, now I need to figure out how we will surprise them that we are going on a cruise. Gotta love kids!!!

My mom is back home. She is going through 13 full head radiation treatments and the remainder of the 5 weeks will be directly targeting the brain tumor. She is hanging in there, the steroids are making her act really weird, and I think there was some neurological damage caused by the tumor. They do not expect the tumor go away, rather they are hoping the brain will grow around it to prevent it from spreading. Lots and lots of stress in the family---I feel guilty for our trip with the unknown.

Have a fantastic week!!!

Well we are off to the nationals in two weeks!!! We are leaving two days early to go through Mooresville, NC. It is two hours out of the way but when your going ten hours away, two hours seems so minimal. The whole family is excited about touring Lowes Motor Speedway and alot of racing headquarters over there. We are just hoping we qualify for the final race. Only the top twenty out of about 100 will make it. Howard is so anxious to get there and race. Howard was a little miffed because we were going to the Cajun Nationals in Baton Rouge, LA Nov 2 and my Doctor said he wouldnt plan anything that soon. It would be 8 days after I get my tonsils out. He was trying to act like he wasnt upset but he clearly was. We all agreed to the Tunica nationals Thanksgiving weekend. Much better and only an hour away. The only downfall is Christie and I will only have a half day of shopping.

I am ready for the trip. I have started to make my packing list. All land plans are done and paid for as well as the cruise. The only thing I have lurking over my head is whether to do Atlantis or not. We have the limo scheduled for the big surprise. My SIL wants to ride with us just to see their faces!!!! My spoiled rotten angels have kinda been sulking because we arent going anywhere this year.;) If they only knew.

PrincessDi - My heart goes out to you. Please know they we are praying for you and the family. I hope that you can find some peace. I know it is hard to be excited but dont feel guilty about your trip. It sounds like it is going to be much needed.

Kay - I hope the grandbaby is better.

Crystal 27 and CRSNDSNY - I hope all is going well. It sounds like our whole group has all of their plans made. I wish we had done a cruise when our children were younger. For some reason we never even entertained the thought until last year. Now we are hooked!!!!! The younger girls are going to be so precious in there princess dresses. I have to say I was so jealous when the little girls came last year to dinner. They all looked so beautiful and you could tell they felt like they were the "Belle of the Ball"!!!! I am really excited and just cant wait!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I cant believe it is October already!!!
We will be cruising before you know it.

PrincesDi:

lots of prayers and pixie dust for your Mom. Just keep the faith and take each day as it comes along. It's not easy but a good treatment.

You can come here and talk and ask questions all you want. My DH went through it so I know your feelings. :grouphug: :grouphug:

well, my friends - looks like I have 4 cruises on the Wonder before this cruise w/y DD and g/baby, Abby.

BTW - she is doing pretty good. Still on medicine and we took her back to daycare today. They agreed to give her the daily medicine so that Karen or I will have to go give it to her at Noon each day and get her upset by seeing us.

I just can't help myself. Between volunteering at the hospital and these cruises, it sure keeps me busy.

Has anyone ever used "The Perfect Gift"? I want to send the children a basket. Last year I made my own. Something small each day according to our port and had the Stateroom Host put them out for me while we were at dinner. It worked perfect but that was a whole suitcase after I had decorations and gift for Williams birthday in there too. I want to send something like a DCL sweatshirt and beach towel and maybe a DCL trading pin. Not like a sand pail or snacks. I want something that they can keep. I am trying to cut down on luggage as I seem to carry everything but the kitchen sink.

I haven't used TPG, but have heard really great things about Shirley and Norm's business.

I am going to box up some stuff (like diapers) and ship it down there before our cruise. I don't feel like having a ton of luggage either.

Hi ALL - hope everyone had a good weekend.

DH and I went to PROM on Saturday night. One of our radio stations rented out a ballroom for a "Second Chance Prom" and DH surprised me with tickets in addition to a new dress, new shoes for me, and he rented a tux for himself. It was a GREAT night, and we literally danced the night away. DH and I had been dating about a month when my high school prom rolled around, and I always kicked myself that we never attended that. Needless to say, I got the prom I always wanted with my Prince Charming!

How is everyone else doing? I'm sure we are all counting down the days (at least I know I am).

MOTM - regarding The Pefect Gift, I've never used them either but, based on the feedback here on The DIS, I will be using them for this cruise as well (for both DH and DD). YAY - fun, fun, fun!

Well, I hope everyone has a great week. It's getting closer! :yay:

WOW!!! That sounds AMAZING!!! How romantic!

DH was stood up for his Prom night so on our honeymoon cruise back in 2001 we pretended we were going to prom during our formal night. It was very special!

Shamefully I went to prom with my DH best friend!!!! That is how we met. We went to rival schools. Crystal27, that was so special for him to surprise you. I am glad that you had a great time.

I think I am going to use TPG for the children. We talked about a mesh bag with beach towel, camera, candy for the movies and some bottled water. She said to call her back three weeks before we go. She also mentioned a treasure chest that I had seen on her website so who knows what I am going to do.

I am so ready for our trip. The children were out of school today and they woke up and said...."I love Columbus!!". Crazy Kids!!!!!! Anyway we went to the mall and I asked if they wanted to go into Disney and look at their shirts and they said "Whats the point...we cant go until next year!" I felt so bad. Not bad enough that I would share the news though!!

We leave Wednesday for Howards Nationals. We decided to leave early and go to DEI Inc. and Lowes Motor Speedway and a few other racing headquarters since it was just two hours out of the way. He will be moving up to 600 Mini Sprints next year.

Then the dreadful 23rd. I am so nervous about getting my tonsils out that I am just beside myself. I wished that I could relax but I cant. I still have two weeks and I cant sleep. I know that it sounds ridiculous but I am terrified of surgery. The only thing good is that six weeks and two days later we will be in Disney!!!!!! We really dont have too terribly long to wait!!!! I hope everyone has a great week.

I can imagine that you're nervous about your tonsils but you will do GREAT!!! Just think, once that is done and overwith you'll be GOING TO DISNEY!!! YEAH!!!

Thanks CRSNDSNY! I am just a wimp when it comes to stuff like that. I know everything will be ok. I just worry about my DH and children while I am down and silly stuff like that.

I am soooooooo technically challenged. I went to zazzle.com and was going to make us some shirts and I couldnt figure it out. My sister said that she was going to come and help me. My children could figure it out no doubt but they cant know. Copy and paste is about my limitations!!!!!!! I can work our programs at the office but beyond that I have to be taught. I also saw some tie dyed shirts that I would love to make but not a chance without the children seeing it.

I am trying to think of a way for us to match without the children finding out for our picture when we get on the ship. I am thinking it will look pretty good if we just all have on the same color. I might just get us all mickey shirts alike....they will think I am crazy though it being for an airplane ride home.;) I thought I may tell them it is for the limo driver to recognize us..that we need to have on such and such. I hope everything stays perfect like I think it is.

Awwww, big hugs! :grouphug: I'm not going to say don't be worried (because I know I would be worried if I was in your shoes), but just think how great you will feel in recovery being able to eat nothing but ice cream and jello. Yummy! Also, in the long run, just think about how great you will feel not having any tonsil issues anymore. Hang in there - it will be okay!

Thanks Crystal27!! I really am trying to see the bright side of this. It would have helped me by not seeing two of my sisters go through this as an adult. My DH and children are all angels and I know they will be the best. I am going to miss the nascar busch series in Memphis that Saturday. It was way too easy to give mine and Christies tickets away. She said we are going to make it a girl movie day. It will be OK. Just a chicken!!! If I could find a dancing chicken in the smilies...I would put it on here!!!!!!

I cant remember who all said they were going to MVMCP but just got my all ears newsletter and it said there were going to be twinkling lights on top of the turrets of the castle this year. (I hope noone is an english teacher because that is a sentence that one could tear apart!!!!!!) That is going to be awesome. We are going the night we get there. I love the party. We may even stay later and maybe get a late start the next day. My family would flip if they heard me say that. I always have a wake up call before the crack of dawn!!!!!

Hi everyone:

we are very close to cruisin' together now.

56 DAY UNTIL WE CRUISE

Welcome to all the new families. So glad we have so many DIS people.

I am a happy camper. My son got home from Iraq on Friday. I got a call at 2:30 pm my time (EST) and he was in the house already. That just made my week. The children were totally estatic to see him, to say the least.

I HOPE WE CAN SET UP A MEETING FOR ALL OF US THE DAY WE BOARD - BEFORE THE SAIL AWAY PARTY AND THE FIRE DRILLL. THERE IS USUALLY PLENTY OF TIME TO DO THAT.

MOTM: have we gotten any feedback about that????

I have the DVC Member cruise next week and the one right behind it so I will be away for about 8 days or so but will be back to see what has happened on the thread.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Kay - I am so glad to hear that your son has made it home safely. I am so grateful for his service for our country. You should be very proud.

I dont recall any "dis meet" set up yet but would be interested. We will be there early as Florida Tours will pick us up at 9:30. What do you suggest? You are obviously the more experienced one!!!!!! We met last year in someones room that had a cat2 but everyone showed up at different times and was kind of a flop. We did get to meet everyone though and I was happy. It is really funny how you can sometimes pick people out from what you have learned about them from the forum. My children will be the ones on cloud nine not believing we actually did it as a surprise.
