December 4 special event?

How many people actually attend the event? Is it as many as attend Oogie Boogie?
Just doing the math, the tickets are valued at $29 (for 7 hours, great deal Disney :scratchin )and winners receive a 4 pack. Total value during the giveaway is $72,500 so 2,500 people will have tickets. Plus I've heard in the past, tickets go to family members who work at the affiliated companies. When I went, it was so nice and empty, it reminded me of the old days of going to Disneyland and actually being able to leisurely ride rides, we had a great view of the World of Color. I've never done OBB, but I would say the crowds are less.

I'm trying to win again for this year lol

In my opinion, OBB is the worst after hours event with respect to crowds, people arriving early, security lines, and overall mania (in both parks).

KOST is mostly locals. While someone from out of town can enter, the logistics to get there at the last minute (if they won) would be difficult. That said, those who already have a trip planned can take their chances and enter online

The contest was announced yesterday. I'm sure it was intentional that Disneyland and KOST posted the event at the same time.

If each of the 625 winners brings four people, it is 2500 people. Below is the verbiage from their website.

Six Hundred Twenty Five (625) prizes: Each prize consists of four (4) tickets (“Event Tickets”) for admission to KOST 103.5 Private Holiday Party at Disney California Adventure® Park (the “Event”) valid only on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and expiring, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 1:00 a.m. PT. Each winner and their guests will be admitted into Disney California Adventure® Park during regular operating hours beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and will each receive a wristband providing access into the Private Party portion of the Event which begins at 9:00 p.m. PT.

The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of each Event Ticket is Twenty-Nine Dollars ($29.00).

The ARV of each prize is One Hundred Sixteen Dollars ($116.00).

ARV of all prizes in this Sweepstakes is Seventy Two Thousand and Five Hundred ($72,500.00).

**Only one (1) prize (a total of four [4] Event Tickets) will be awarded from any method of entry per household for the duration of the Sweepstakes**.

Oh nooooo. Thanks for letting me know that means I will definitely have to change my night to be in DL rather than DCA. OMG the planning of this trip is becoming a nightmare. Now I am going to have to try and change my dining plans but I just know everything will be booked out. I am so angry with Disney not releasing all this stuff till so late.

I wouldn’t change my plans, especially if dining is involved. If the park becomes unmanageable after dinner then hop over to DL. Otherwise enjoy your trip the way you planned

I agree, I would not change my plans for this small number of extra people. I would not think they would be making dining reservations at this late time, and not all of them will arrive right at 6pm. Heck, if I won these tickets, I would wait until 9pm when all the rides will be walk on, versus fighting the full crowds from 6-9pm. They also won’t have LLMP, presumably, so if you have it, you could just plan to book some LLs during this time and avoid the extra folks. Honestly, I would not stress yourself out to change your park days over 2500 potential people over a 3 hour period, of your entire park day. But I totally understand your frustration!! I would feel the same in your shoes!!

I am also going on this day, but if I had known that DCA was going to close early for a private event, I think I would have chosen the week after.

I am now wondering if DL will be more crowded with mostly everyone with a hopper will be hopping over to DL and it’s closing at 11pm instead of midnight.

I am happy about seeing the fireworks! Last year, Disney cancelled the fireworks all three days we were there because of wind. Fingers crossed for this time!

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes an extra 2500 people does sound manageable, I thought maybe there would be thousands but as it is limited that makes me feel a little easier. I think I'll just leave things as is and as we will have LLMP we can ride what we want using that. I plan on starting the day in DL and then during our afternoon break stack LL's for the evening at DCA so I think it will work out okay. (Note to self : Take a deep breath Anne and chill.) :cool1:

It is not closing early. DCA closes at 9pm during the week except weekends and summer/holidays, when it closes at 10pm.

Yes!! You sound like you have a great plan! And I also think maybe some people who don’t have PH tickets will choose to go to DL this day and avoid this event (which now that OP provided the numbers on, doesn’t sound too bad). Then DCA might be less crowded when you arrive there in the afternoon. Have an amazing trip!!

DCA is open until 11 pm from November 23 to Dec 1. The following two weeks, it is open until 10 pm with the exception of Wednesday Dec 4 when it closes at 9 pm.

Now that I think back to my May trip maybe it was a 10pm closure expect for Grad nights.

The 11pm closure is because of Thanksgiving.
