December 2013 car rental

You're probably right. Is this a refundable rate do you know? I can't quite figure it out without going all the way through to checking out. It looks like they're saying if you cancel before 48 hours prior to pick up there's no cancellation fee. I'm also wondering if I can add my Dollar Express # after the fact. That's one of the reasons I like renting with Dollar. I prefer to go right to the garage, jump in my car & go. The rental car lines at MCO have been ridiculously long the last few times I've passed through. Always makes me happy I don't have to wait in them.

It billed my credit card (chase) directly (option to use points too)
Under terms and conditions it says 'no shows non refundable....
cancellations received within '2' days of pick up will be subject to a supplier cancellation fee

my e.mail came from 'chase ultimate rewards travel'

i don't know if you can add the dollar express # because i didn't try

it did send a dollar confirmation # though.. Mxxxxxxxx

which i can look up and it gives all the details:
It actually gives, "Estimated Grand total $187.92" 1 week rental at 140.94 per week, unlimited mileage, 2 extra days at $23.49 per day" for me

You might be able to add your # if you call them after it's booked

my charge on the cc# came through as 'cl chase travel'
208-429-2349 which goes to 'trip charges'

i'm pretty sure it's legit as it gave a correct dollar confirmation reservation

Alamo is down a little today for my timeframe. I was just able to book a standard vehicle for 12/6 - 12/14 [8 day rental] using the sunpromo code for $173. Not too bad. And since I am not using any coupon of any sort, I should be able to go straight out to the garage. And Alamo not having a standard aisle means I should be able to get a full size vehicle. While I will continue the hunt, this is a rate I am happy with. :goodvibes

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong - I checked for the week before you and entered sunpromo in the discount code box - was rejected?

Go to the Alamo page, go to "deals" at the top of the page (it might be "specials" or "promos".. It's one of the two). A box will come up on the left, enter location and dates (it won't allow you to enter times). That will bring up a page of promos for your dates. Choose the Sun Promo which will bring you to box to fill out your dates/location/times (the promo will be already filled in). Search from there.
That's how I get it to come up.
It is back down to what I booked at a few weeks ago. $186.12 for the standard/fullsize car for 9 days.

I did go ahead & reserve the intermediate this morning. I received a confirmation from Chase & what looks like my confirmation # from Dollar. It matches pretty much to all the other confirmation #s I've ever received from them on previous rentals. However when I go into the Dollar site & try to retrieve it I get a message reservation not found. :confused3 Maybe it takes a bit for it to show up? :confused3 I'll give it until this afternoon & then call if it still doesn't show up online.

BIG SURPRISE HERE!
Alamo just emailed me a coupon at 12:22p, within 5 minutes of receiving it, I went to their site. Got the message "coupon not valid at this location"

And even bigger surprise .. I just got one that actually DID work:confused3!
It had to be used in conjunction with my Alamo Inisders number though, and came out $40 higher than the SunPromo. But I just about fell over when it worked. Maybe I put the wrong location in or something:scared:

I'm sorry now I'm probably just being pain! I called Chase & the rep I got said I won't be able to pull up the reservation on Dollar's site. When I asked why she said because they'll see it booked through a travel agent. Huh? That makes no sense at all. I am a TA & if I give my client a confirmation # for a reservation I booked for them they can certainly go look it up themselves at the vendor's site. I told her I needed to get my Express ID # added to the reservation hence why I needed Dollar to recognize the reservation #. Her reply was "you won't be able to do that & they won't recognize the #". Something sounds wrong about this. Were you able to pull up your reservation on Dollar's website? I spent 25 min. on hold with Dollar just now to see if they can pull up the reservation & add my Express # but finally gave up holding.

Did you enter it in the Contract ID box? That's where it goes. I just did 11/30 - 12/7 with no problems, albeit quite a bit higher.

Not sure what to do. I have a reservation with Alamo for pick up at MCO return 1 week later to Dolphin. At the time that was MUCH cheaper than return to MCO. Now I have changed my resort to BLT for last 3 nights so wondering if I should change to Car Care Center. I can get a new reservation with Sun Promo (which might make pick up easier than the current reservation with coupon) for about $10 more. Is it easy returning to the car care center? I loved how easy Dolphin was this summer when we rented a car for a few days in the middle of our trip.

OR for about $7 more I can keep it a few more hours and just return to MCO. How easy is that? Where do you gas up when returning to the airport?

Thanks for any advice. I've been using a town car service for years but loved how easy it was to get around in a rental this summer.

I can pull it up on my phone (mobile.dollar.com) with my confirmation # and last name but not on the main website *shrug* no idea
I'm still pretty sure it will be a valid reservation

If anyone is still looking try Budget.com
Use BCD code D623300 (Up to 30% off weekly rental in Florida)
And Coupon MUWZ059 ($30 off participating locations). Both coupons are from the Budget website.

It's actually $10 cheaper than my Alamo reservation (coming in around $178 for 9 days for a fullsize). For now that's not enough to get me to switch because I'd rather walk out and choose my own car with Alamo. We have rented with Budget before though and found the experience pretty good.:)

I'm with you. I love, love walking to the garage and picking my own car out. Sometimes there are too many choices and I get all freaky. That's my Type A surfacing. :upsidedow

Ahh! for my dates Budget is higher than Alamo. For the eleven days (Dec 6th-16th) I am getting $224.00 total with the Budget codes for a midsize. Going through Costco I currently have the same midsize for eleven days for just $179.46 (including all taxes and fees) through Alamo.

I like being able to pick my own car through Alamo, but for my last three trips I have gotten Budget cheaper, so went with them. We've never had a problem with Budget and so far have always gotten a nice car. I'm sticking with my Alamo ressie for now, but if Budget comes down later would have no problem switching.

Looking at booking an impromptu trip. Dec 25-Jan 1. Any leads on nice deals from Sanford? Perfer mini van, but looking like almost sold out...

I was able to add it as a reservation on their mobile site too but still can't retrieve it on the website. I did finally get through to Dollar & they let me add my Express ID#. However since I can't see it anywhere on the reservation it makes me wonder if I can really walk out to the garage & my car will be assigned & waiting for me. I guess I'll have to call them again. It's a good rate with the Ultimate Rewards site but I really hate I seem to have no control over the reservation. :headache:

Just got a minivan on Dollar today for the weekly rate of $207, total $274 including taxes adn fees. Decmeber 10-15. Not too bad... that was using the city sepcial pop up .

On the Alamo site using Costco code 7014627 and Coupon AD2845VAN for $25 off (must be signed in as insider to use coupon) a minivan is $228 inc taxes and includes free additional driver.
