Nice! What was your second booking??? I missed that announcement! We're planning either a MNSSHP 2013 or anoher MVMCP 2013. We are waiting until January to book so we can gauge how much we like December. Planning on renting DVC points next time and staying Deluxe!! ::yes::

We are waiting until after out visit as well to figure out when we want to go. I haven't been down in Dec in a long while however I think I am going to fall back in love with it. Our tentative plan is Mid October 2013, Dec 13/Jan 14 and then early Oct 2014.... I am trying to figure it out with points - we are DVC members though but also trying see how to utilize AP's.... The October trips will hopefully be "adult" anniversary celebrations :D

If you guys and gals haven't realized yet, I'm the king of second guessing/over-thinking my plans. I just had another option come up, and I'm curious of the DISers thoughts:

Right now, I'm booked in AOA LM, DxDDP, 7-day MYW base tickets. Total: $2367.58

Option B: Book a DVC rental through David's DVC Rentals.
Studio room at Animal Kingdom Lodge: $741.00/Boardwalk Villas Studio or Old Key West: $832.00
DxDDP: $1026.24
7-day MYW base tickets (via Undercover Tourist): $579.31
TOTAL: $2346.55/$2437.55

Thoughts?

I'd be very tempted to switch. I'd love to stay at either AKL or BWV.....just think of the nightlife possibilities if you were staying at BWV! Just a thought........

Personally, I would leave it. The difference is less than $100 and I would love to stay in the new AoA resort! It looks awesome. Save the Deluxe for your next trip ;)

A big downside too - I had looked a couple of times prior but on the DVC online reservation system - they are also booked up on points already. I had wanted to go from a grand villa to a studio and a 2 bed at AKL and searched occasionally to no avail... Which was good because now we have more people joining us and the GV will be a much better option.

I also think AoA would be a lot of fun too :D It has that whole new resort feel going on!

Temptation... Thy name is DVC.

From what I've seen of TR's, the boardwalk has some pretty good halls that are decked with boughs of holly. And the best night life since some Rhodes Scholar decided Pleasure Island was better with shops than clubs.

We are currently booked at the Boardwalk for December 13th.- 21st. I can tell you as stated above I also checked for the first week of December and they are completely booked at DVC at the Boardwalk. I don't think at this point it is going to matter but the Boardwalk is an awesome place to stay. The first 2 weeks of December are the lowest of all year along with January and September... and it is usually booked early December for months and months in advance. I booked my ressie 7 months ago. :)

I checked the other DVC for the week there is nothing for a studio the first week in December. :)

With DVC the trick is to either book way in advance, or if you're booking last minute, just go for a night or two and piecemeal it together since you're more likely to find a few nights here and there.

A couple of days ago we were able to rent a few more points to add 2 studios at OKW for one night, the night we land at the airport so we could use ME and go straight to the parks in the morning instead of staying at an airport hotel. I'd watched availability for awhile, and different resorts were available at different times but it worked out that I found a renter who was good with what I could afford at the same time as those studios were available.

So if you want to add a night or two at the beginning or end of your trip with DVC at this point, totally do-able. To be able to get a weeklong stay this late is highly unlikely.

I think AKL would be great....shocked that they are less points than OKW! Are you sold on the deluxe dining? That could save some nice money too!

The "value" rooms at AKL are very limited (I think I read 10 studios, 1br etc) I booked one at the 7 month mark and was lucky to get it. They didn't have a week long available... However AKL overall seems to have a good value with standard room points.

You check out of OKW on 12/1? Maybe I will see you on my way to check in!! The studios are very roomy at OKW plus with the recent refurb I'm in love all over again.

:rolleyes1

OK update. Just called and was told that they will take reservations at the end of August with no exact date known and that dining will start on November 19th! I like that answer.
I was told this exact same thing this week as well :thumbsup2

I'm just glad that it was a nice pair :teeth: Could have been a lot worse!
 that is awful!!! one of those things that makes you just want to crawl under a rock :lmao: we've all been there :goodvibes

This is tough... AoA looks awesome! I honestly couldnt fully decide as well so we are having our first split stay this time. Id just weigh out the perks that are important to you... over the top theming, Ariel, new buzz... albeit smaller rooms and likely more noise vs comfier digs, a little more adult in nature with more amenities. Again... I couldn't even make that decision so we are doing both :thumbsup2 It's a tough call! Either choice will be great :goodvibes Best of luck on it!

We are driving down for our trip and plan to resort hop the first day and a half. Is there somewhere to get easy driving directions to the hotels? Would GPS work?

We are also looking for a hotel ADR for dinner our first night. Any suggestions?

Which hotels are NOT to be missed for decorations?

Be careful with GPS - it tried to bring us into a service entrance to somewhere near AK.... I think the signage they use is pretty much the easiest way to go. I would make a list of the resorts you want to "hop" to and then look at a map to see what order makes the best sense.... I want to resort hop for decorations and will try to do all the deluxe ones and Fort Wilderness (after HDDR). My top 3 probably are Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness and the Grand Floridian... But I want go to the Poly, BW/BC, Contemporary and AKL as well. I tried to also plan it in with our ADR's so that we could also get a good feel for all the deluxe resorts holiday decorations.

Wow you are the king of second guessing. I know this has already been settled, but I wanted to comment anyway. You are staying at a brand new resort, with an amazing pool and food court. Abby loves Ariel and you have a LM room. It is your first time at Disney so you will be spending your time in the parks anyway. Like a pp said, save the deluxe for your next trip. Stop looking at other resorts!!!! :lmao:

We're at BWV Dec 3-15. We're booked cash not points (I prefer the flexibility). But I booked my 2BDR (i.e. 1BDR + Studio) in January because the 2BDRs and Studios go fast. You can usually find last minute 1BDRs if you're paying cash but that's about your only option.

Of course, BWV is my favorite resort. You can't beat the location. And that's why I wouldn't bother with something like OKW. For me, the best feature of the Deluxes is location. Well, except for AKL. That's a special case. :)
