December 2011 Code Watch!

There's really no way to know the best times to go until they announce their general public discounts. That's what drives the traffic. Whether early December is low traffic next year remains to be seen. It is no longer "value season" in the lowest rate category. Will discounts bring it back down? That remains to be seen.

December has traditionally been a moderate weather time of year, but this year they set record cold when we were there. (And October is typically moderate, but we set record heat when we were there the time before.)

I had the same issue trying to decide on our trip dates this year. I heard early November was good, but also feared it was too far out from Christmas for me to get really excited about the Christmas decor. I guess that's why it's the lower traffic time of year.

Early December USED to be low traffic. Now it's moderate traffic. Manageable, but certainly not low any more.

I went ahead and booked 12/4/11-12/9/11 at the GF but I really hope to get a 30-40% off code to help with the cost. Just got back from 12/12/10-12/17/10 at the GF and can't wait to go back this year.

Okay, I am scared to jump on this bandwagon but I think I'll stick one foot on it. We just got back and had the most amazing trip of my life w/my 3 yo. On our last day at MK, my daughter said, "Mommy can we go back to Disney World next year?" (Thanks hubby.) So we may try to make it work. The 2010 trip was a miracle of finances for us so we'll see how the saving goes. I was thinking of moving up a week. Our 10th anniversary is Dec. 15 so I was thinking the Dec 10-17 but that was the same as this year and someone suggested the week of Dec 3-10 might be better. Guess it all depends on the discounts!

So you were there on Christmas? What were the crowds like. My dh has agreed to go next year for Christmas, but I know if the crowds are horrific he will never return.

You can join AAA if you need the road service, but I'm a member and every time we attempt to get a Disney trip quote from AAA, it's no less expensive, sometimes more, than just using Dreams Unlimited.

Gotcha! Thanks for the advice! I actually have never used a travel agent and am one of those type that prefer to do it all myself, but I may just have to give them a whirl!

We have visited Disney once during December and fell in love . After reading the posts about others calling just to check to see if a PIN was listed under their name, I decided to give it a try.

Glad I did! We were able to book for December 17-23, 2011 with a PIN discount of 35% at All Star Sports !!! So glad I decided to give it a try. I really did not think there would be anything for December this early and didn't expect such a great discount for the value resort - so excited that I was wrong . So if you haven't called yet I say give it a try - you never know!!!

I just booked a room at POFQ for December 10-18. I have been deleting my pin emails since we were not planning a trip any time soon. When we decided to book a trip I called and I did have a pin attached to my name for 35% off for December 11-18. The 10th is blocked out so at this point we are paying rack room rate for this. We also priced some deluxe resorts we we could get 40% off of the deluxe. At this point we are staying at POFQ, we stayed there in Feb 2009 and we loved the transportation options from the resort. We did get a great price for the Savannah room at AKL but we felt that we did not spend enough time in our room last trip. Now we will have a 7 year old and 3 year old this time. We are so excited for our trip! I hope there is more pixie dust for pin codes soon for everyone trying to plan a December trip! I sent for the vacation DVD and I played around with dates on the disney planning site for Oct.-Dec. 2011. I am not sure if this helped to generate my code.

Can anyone tell me how this week 12/10-12/18 was crowd wise this year? We thought about Dec. 3rd week but I think that is POP Warner week and our code was not good for that week. With our code we could choose between 8/21-10/8, 10/23-10/29, 11/13-11/19, 11/27-12/3, 12/11-12/24. I hope this helps everyone with planning.

Thanks for the PIN tip! We called and had one, too. Looks like we'll be booking soon. The PIN needs to be used by Feb 28th.

Just booked our room at Pop Century from 11/27-12/3 with the 35% off room code

We have only been in September and MNSSHP so it will be nice to see all the Christmas decorations! And we said we weren't going back this year....

Now here's hoping for decent airfare

I called to check on a pin code. I already have a res. for Dec. 4-10. 2011. I was told by the agent that I had already had a 30% discount applied to my res. Later on today my friend went on line and looked at the same time and package that I have and the price she got was the exact same as mine is WITH my discount. Well, how is that possible? She didn't have a discount. So I called back and got a different agent and she said there is not a discount on my reservation at all, that my rate is the same as anyone who books right now. Well, what's up with this? So the second agent connected me with a supervisor and he was no help at all. He just kept repeating what I have in my package. I said I KNOW what I have in my package I just want to know why she told me this. She gave me an amount that it would be without the discount and it was about $1,000.00 more. This comes out to about the 30%. So why didn't my friend get quoted the higher amount? There is something fishy about this. I have been to Disney 21 times and I just don't get this at all.

My sister (staying in our room with us) got a PIN on Monday for 40% off Deluxe so we've applied that to our stay and saved!

She'd never been to WDW before and registered on the website and got a PIN via email. We were able to use her PIN since she's in the room with us.

Planning to go 12/11-12/17 now instead of 12/4-12/9 since 12/4-12/9 is POP Warner. (Although the CM told me the PIN covered all dates thru 12/22).

You cant .. they only let you use pins over the phone.

I think it's because it's POP Warner week. I've read they don't usually do room discounts that week.
