December 2008 Code Watch

I booked at WL in a bunk bed room a while ago and asked for a AAA discount. They said it wasn't available on that room. Does that usually mean that even if a discount came out in Aug. it would not apply to my bunk bed room???

Not necessarily. The rooms that are discounted are usually what is left in the inventory that they haven't been able to fill. I was surprised at the rooms I was able to get last August, one of which was an AS Music Family Suite. I declined that when a CR MK View room opened up and then I got AKL standard view. Nobody knows what will be avail, until the codes come out. I think alot of people try to upgrade and many other rooms open up. That is what happened with me for August. I was trying to get a WL room (any WL room) and a week after the code came out, one finally came available.

Does anyone think that AP codes "might" cover the holiday rate dates leading up to Christmas like Dec. 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 ??? I have AAA rates, but they only go thru December 18 and we're staying until the 23rd...:confused3

No, the Disney (AP, FL Res, General) discount will only go as far as the AAA discount. Dec 19 is considered Holiday season, so there will be no discount again until after the first of the year.

Thanks Suzanne, that's what I was afraid of. Oh well, I guess that's a good reason to try a value resort for the first time...:rolleyes1

I didn't know you could be on a wait list for your type of room to open. Is this standard at all resorts? Newbie here. Thanks.

I waitlisted for BWV 1 bedroom preferred view on Dec 10th. When I called (at 9am) there was a BWV 1 bedroom boardwalk view available. The member services lady kept talking and talking. I interrupted and told her to just book the room. She tried and said, "I'm sorry. The room is gone now. That's how fast they go." Arg :headache: I wait listed the preferred view because I figure my chances will be better with preferred view vs. boardwalk view.

Well, I changed my dates to 11/30-12/8. I had previously been going the week after this one. I guess Pop Warner sort of freaked me out, since we were staying at POP. We'll only be there for a day or two when that is going on. Now, I'm just hoping for a nice code! I booked through AAA, but an even better discount would be nice!

This was written and posted on the wrong thread. Waitlisting is for Disney Vacation Club. I'm not sure about waitlisting for other resorts but I have never heard of it.

You can't do this at at all resorts, only DVC.

For the last 2 Decembers, the AAA rate has been better. Some of the codes GF or Poly. You are getting a much better deal with AAA.

Hi! Are you staying at Pop Century? If so, maybe you'd like to join us in a refrigerator swap and save a bunch of money instead of renting one from WDW. Follow the link in my signature for more info....

My family just decided to plan a trip for early December! We've been in early December before but it's been about 4 years now so we are anxious to get back.

Just subscribing to keep an eye on the discount possibilities!

Subscribing!

We're thinking of going 12/20-01/03. My daughters' birthday's are 12/21 and 01/01, so this will cover both birthday's and Christmas!

By the looks of it, I doubt there will be a code. I'm a FL resident- is there any other hope or should I just expect to pay what the number shows?

More than likely there won't be. The codes will probably end with Dec 18.

Well, you can be pretty sure free dining won't be one of them in December. The code for December should come out in August, like they did last year. And actually the AAA rate was still better than the AP or general codes for the last 2 years, especialy if you are staying at any resort other than Value. You AAA agent should be able to add/change the ressie, but that is only if your room category is included in the released code, if not, you are out of luck.

Do you remember what the Disney visa code was that came out in August?:confused3

Looking at 12/7-11. May stay off-site w/HHonors points but IF a good discount pops up, I'll sure take a long hard look at other alternatives.

Add us! I casually mentioned going to Disney for Christmas this year since we were there last January and just missed the decorations!! So excited!

We are going to make a short family vacation on Dec.5-7th and I don't know where to book. We have always stayed at the CR and that is one of three choices. The other two are 2 FW cabins or a deluxe room at the WL. We are going to have 4 adults and 2 kids (13&3). What are some of your opinions? Is the deluxe at WL large enough for the 6 of us or should we splurge with a one bedroom at the CR? I had heard how beautiful the WL is at Christmas time and thought we would try something new. Any ideas would help a lot!

Cool, planning a trip either the first or second week of December for 5 days. Leaning to the first week. Will be staying at Grand Floridian. Poly is second choice.

Sorry, I don't. I have never used our Visa for the discount code. I think they chnage from year to year anyway. Check out Mousesaver.com and look under historical discounts, it should be listed there.
