December 2008 Code Watch

I have been reading these posts trying to figure out what the pin codes and what not all meant but I just dont understand what you all are talking about.
Heck- if I can save money I want to know how!!!
We are going to WDW Dec 8-13- nothing booked just yet though...can someone explain it to me!

I am sure this has already been answered, but there are tons of posts to search for!!!! If you book a package and a discount comes up can you switch it? This will be our first trip in Dec. and cannot wait! Thanks again.:confused3

Do you have AAA?

Pin codes don't come out to everyone, only a select few, but call Dinsey and check to see if a pin code is associated with your name.

December discounts usually come out in August and check in here often, because we will be the first to know and share the discounts.

If you haven't booked already, you nedd to do so right away and you can always change to a discounted room when the discounts come out, but at least you will have a room adn won;t be scrambling ot find one later.

PM me if you need some more help.

how do i subscribe?? i am booked at Poly in dec

clueless in tx

:confused3

There are SO many theories out there as to how to get discounts but the best options seem to be to book early and get a AAA discount if you can (there are a limited number of rooms for the AAA discount, which is why you need to book early -before they sell out). AAA discount can range from 10% - 20% depending on the time of year. Contact your AAA agent for more details on that.

OR you can book the time frame that you want and HOPE for a discount to come in the future. There are a few ways to get discounts but they are not available to all ... generally. Sometimes Disney announces general public discounts but you have to snap those up very quickly. Often, Disney sends out pin codes to "randomly chosen" people who are on their mailing list. So my advice on that score is to order vacation planning videos, register on the disney.com website, call the reservations office ... anything that will get you in their system for possible mailings/emailings. I have tried this but haven't had a lot of luck - but I also reported that I had been there 9 or so times so maybe WDW doesn't think they need to send me any codes since I'm likely to visit anyway.

Good luck!

Hello there, I'm new to the promotional codes and such. :) I have read through this entire thread, and it's still slightly overwhelming because just now have I stumbled upon this section of the Dis and took notice of different discounts.
I just want to verify everything while it's still fresh in my mind ;)

I'm 21 and haven't booked many vacations before other than WDW, so bear with me if I sound a little naive on the subject! :bitelip: On the Disney website, I booked 2 Adults (it's just me and my mom!) with the 10 Day MYW package + basic Dining Plan, 10 nights and 11 days at Port Orleans French Quarter. Our dates are 11/30 - 12/10. The vacation is almost paid in full, but I'm wondering about these Pin codes. Should I call now if there is a Pin Code to my name, or wait closer to December? What are the chances of their being one during this Value Season? Is there anything else I need to know before calling Disney Reservations? Does being a Florida resident help any? Sorry for all the questions!! Any help is greatly appreciated!! :) :goodvibes

My mother and I have taken 15 vacations to WDW since 1990, and nothing would make us happier than a little pixie dust of a discount!! :wizard:
Thank you!

Thank you!

Discounts are always a good thing!! Do you have AAA or a Disney Visa? Having either will save you some money. Probably around August Disney Visa cardmembers get an advance notice of a special that is usually good til around the first 2 weeks of Dec. Last year I got 8 nights at POR-AB, + 5 day MYW w/ Park hopper, and dining plan for $1800 which would have originally been $2300. Right now I have a room only booked thru AAA, and got 20% off. Once the DV special comes available, I will change it over because it's normally a bigger discount.

I'm taking my 17-y-o DD this Dec. - staying at Pop - for the first time since she was little (She was HORRIBLE at WDW at 3 years old. I've been 7 times w/o her since then. Hopefully, she's more patient now. :rotfl2:). I hope you and your mom have a wonderful trip.

First of all, thank you! :goodvibes I do have a Disney Visa and boy am I glad I do now!! :cool1: I wasn't sure if calling now to ask about pin codes would be a good idea 6 months in advance! But I will definitely do it this August! :cloud9: Thanks about my mom and I, we always have a blast at WDW! And you and your daughter have a wonderful trip; Pop is a great resort!! I'm sure her patience has thickened a little since the age of 3....:lmao: ;) either way you'll be at Disney together!! Thank you!

Hi! I am a Newbie to the discount code "deals":lovestruc
As I am sure there has not been any codes from what I have read so far.....I did not miss anything major right??

Thanks for your patience:)

General Public codes/Disney Visa codes have traditionally been released in mid August for this time of year. Keep a weather eye here on the code board as it always has the info first!

Disney Visa holders will get 3 days advance booking ahead of the general public, which sometimes sells out the more popular resorts (especially those that only released a few rooms to the promotion) such as Pop, the Poly etc. Certain resorts will not participate at all if their bookings are high enough (CR, WL, GF etc.)

Good luck and Happy Waiting!! :goodvibes

WHo will be there between Dec 6-13??

We have to go see my MIL the 6 and 7, so we will be at wdw from the 8-13th
I have an opinion question- since it is just 2 adults, and i am NOT a thrill ride person ( major motion sickness) how many days should we get park tickets for? Should we add pH?
Also- is it better to book as a vacation package OR book room through AAA and other stuff thru Disney? Whats they best way to do it??

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, Melissa in CT!

Most of my 15+ trips to WDW have been with either my best friend or mom (no kids). My BFF also gets very motion sick and always bring the Antivert? meds regardless of our plans. I don't do too many thrill rides and my mom is a big zero on those! I believe the thrill rides only account for only 10-20% of a parks offerings compared to the calmer rides, shows, parades, fireworks, dining, photo ops, shopping, and general enjoyment of the park environment.

We will also be there Dec. 7-13. We do only 3 parks (no AK) and will be in the parks for 4 days. We will likely do 2 days in MK, 1/2ish day in HS, and 1.5ish days in Epcot. We are using left over tickets from a previous trip and they have PH. However, if I had to buy new tix, we would probably? skip the PH.

If you are going this time in Dec., you need to book ASAP. This is getting to be a busier & busier time with holidays events, Pop Warner, Mousefest, etc.

You'll need to compare & contrast on the price - sometimes package is better; sometimes a la carte is better. I've only done the pakage once & that was with the cruise. Typically we have other reasons for not doing the package (buying extra ticket days that don't expire, wanting a DVC at cheaper rate, already have tickets, etc.).

Bottom line? Get it booked NOW.
Gayle

We'll be at AKL Dec 6-13 ...

You need to book ASAP - and have a list of optional Resorts/room types ready (cuz your choices may be limited ...) :worried:

I use AAA and book the package (including DDP - with a to-be-5-year old, it's a pretty good deal ...) I booked in January (!) and my first choice - WL - had all the AAA rate rooms booked ... (so - we're staying at AKL - what a shame!! ... NOT! :rotfl: )

I'll be checking out the discounts when they are posted in August to see if it will make a difference ...

With all the holiday stuff - figure on two days each at MK and Epcot, and a day each at DHS and AK. And don't forget MVMCP (which could take the place of one of the MK days ... ) [and I don't do the scary :scared1: rides either ... ]

Park hoppers? - personally, I don't see the need ...

Thanks for your help Suzanne!

You're welcome. Hope you get a code or discount soon. Keep checking back, people cancel rooms all the time.
