December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

Our 7 year old is a boy and he would love to get receive something from another 6 year old! Does he want to email? We are going with a few other friends who have some 6/7 year old boys so you son will make plenty of friends on this cruise! Looking forward to meeting you guys!

My son doesn't have an email yet but I guess we can use mines, I'm trying to get him to write more. aidouge@gmail.com. This is great, it makes the trip more exiciting. Did you have the link to the FE?

Thank you for the heads up about the nursery allotment of hours! :) I hadn't seen that anywhere. I have a feeling our cruise will be full so I may be out of luck. :sad2:
I'm just now trying to read up on Disney's new policy for the Club/Lab. :surfweb: I still can't quite make heads or tails of it. :confused3 Something about there are long "open house" hours during the day now. Open House means you can't check your child in. You have to stay. However they still have a "secured" area where you can check your child in but if the open house is say in the Club then the secured area will only be in the Lab and vice versa. There is a thread about it and parents are hopping mad! What I'm also trying to figure out is if they have open house in the nursery too b/c there is no sense in me signing up for the nursery if it is b/c I'm not paying $6/hr just to play with my own kid. Anyone heard or are familiar with this new Disney policy?

You wont be out of luck. But I do suggest thinking about those few things that might be easier to do w/out the 2 year old that you might want to do and prebook a few slots before the cruise. A few hours here are there are always nice. Maybe for dinner, some 1:1 time with the older child, or even a couple of hours by the adult pool are always a plus. Kids are :) wonderful, but a little break while on vacation is always a nice treat (even at $6 an hour) :)

I had not heard about any new open hours policy, but you do now have me curious. on the past sailings we have been on, Open House, was those first few hours that you got on the ship (before it left port), for parents and kids to come in and check out the kids club/lab together and meet some of the counselors. Same with the Nursery. After that the Nursery did not allow parents in, you had to drop off at the door. With the Oceanears lab, parents were welcome to bring in the younger child (under 3) for supervised play (but parents had to stay). I am interested to hear what their new policies are.

My son does not have email either so he would use mine. Would you prefer to do regular mail? Like a pen pal? that would be pretty cool too. The could exchange letters until the cruise. Just let me know what you would like to do. We are totally open.

The woman who created the cruise sign up page, moved to another cruise. Someone is going to take over organizing it, but not sure if they will be using the same page to track/get the info. I went ahead and signed up on the existing sign up page. We have been on 7 Disney cruises and EVERY Time, I say "We need to do that Fish Extender thing" but we never have. I am determined to start doing it, so we signed up! Here is the link that we used......https://sites.google.com/site/dcl121512/cruisers

Oh no:scared1: Dave, we the "Man Club" have to do something. Maybe we can pay a vist to Dale's boss...........just to talk, honest;);)

We will miss you. December is a ways away yet. Maybe the company will change their mind.

Kevin

Yes I know what you mean Kevin..................just to talk;)...........yeah right talk;);)...............gotcha;););).................we'll talk alright..................oh you really mean talk don't you??? Ok we could do that too!!! Flash around the ol' Man Cards that should intimidate them!!! Oh you don't want to intimidate them either??!?.................Really talk to them huh????..................... Oh OK.
Yes I am hoping too, since December is still a ways off Dale and Patricia will we able to find a way still go on this cruise.

Well I already know we want to book port days (except Castaway Cay) from my two-year old. And that pretty much sucks up our 18 hours right there. Hopefully when we get on board we can book dinners. He would probably make it a half hour to an hour tops before losing it. Or do you think I should book dinners first and then try for port days when I get on the ship? The nursery is open on port days, right?

If you have about a billion hours to dedicate to reading about the new Open House policy here is the thread : http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2858080
It's very long. But basically the jist is that there is a 4-5 hour span of Open House hours in either the club or the lab. And when there is an open house in one the secured area is in the other. It's only in the Lab/Club though not in the nursery (I asked :) ).

Ok an update on this wives taking over movement. This morning DW and I were setting on the couch drinking our coffee and watching the morning news. A commercial comes on the TV, I reach for the remote to turn down the volume. As we all know those commercials are louder then the program you are watching. And, also, as ya'll know the remote..............well that is man's domain...............always has been.............always will be!!! So DW says, "Gimme that".................and at the same time she swipies the remote from my hand. I am in shock....................i just sit there looking at her..............I don't know what to do.......................I am speechless...............and at the same time afraid...................very afraid!!!! I don't know what to do?? Do I grab it back from her?...................do I politely ask for the remote back?................Or do I just sit there and let her take charge of the remote? I didn't do any thing................I pretended like it never happened................I acted like I needed more coffee, got up, went in the kitchen, and..........I almost cried. Kevin, Dale, what should I have done in this instance??? I....I.....I think a corner of the ol' "Man Card" fell off and I'll never be able to get it back!!!!!:scared1::scared1:

Okay David...you asked...I'll answer.

(ohand I am part of the hen party)

When she asks for the remote, give it to her.:rotfl2::rotfl2: Ask her if she wants more coffee and get it for her. If you want the remote back for a day or two. Call the spa and nake her an appointment for a mani or pedi or better yet Valentines day is coming...a dozen roses and a day at the spa.:cool1: No tears all smiles!!

Fabulous idea!

My Dale (DaleG if he ever hops on here) is sooooo fortunate. I enjoy many of the same shows he does, therefore it doesn't matter who has the remote, it would magically end up on something we both enjoy! Yeah, well. In a perfect world that would happen!

Our girls are getting so excited! Our oldest was talking about the BBB this morning. She knows that they will be going at some point.

Hope everyone has a good week. We are going to the park today. It should be fairly nice in the mid-60s and Dale is out of town, so it will be nice to go meet up with some friends.

All I can say.................is just tell her you were getting for her so she would not have to get up:rolleyes1 I learned a long time ago that all remotes are theirs.

On the other hand, Amanda what can we do to get DaleG on here? Do we need to send a delegation to talk to him:confused3

Kevin

Kevin

I'll let him know that he should really check it out. He is out of town tonight on business, so it may give him a chance to catch up in the hotel!

Kevin

Yup, cuz I hooked up the electronics in the living room this time, so only I know how to make them work!

Last time we moved the furniture Kevin hooked up the electronics [and they worked his way, too]

Too many techies in this house that play pranks on each other, lol!

Well Dave, Kevin and others; it is with much regret that DW and i have to pull out from this cruise. :headache: The owner of my company, who also is my only boss, has decided that this time in December would not be good for me to take off. Since i need this job:confused3 i've decided not to argue. :thumbsup2 I feel like my Man Card has somehow been devalued. Keep up the good fight Dave and Kevin. Especially Dave with the remote. You know sometimes the remote batteries die or go missing. Just saying. I have found strange things happen after a remote fight, the last chocolate covered pretzel DW wanted disappears, her side of the electric blanket comes unplugged. You know, just saying. Well, i hope you all have a good trip and don't let the Hen Party peck you to death. :lmao:

Dale and Patricia, so sorry that you will not be joining us on this cruise.:sad2: I was looking forward to meeting both of you, and having a great time together. Who knows, maybe we will be on another Disney cruise together. So it is not good-bye, just until we meet on the next cruise!!!:woohoo:
Oh by the way Dale, you made some very interesting points there about the remote, and what "could" possibility happen. I'll have to remember those pointers of yours. Thanks Good Buddy!!!

Well LuvEeyore, what I see is DW has drawen a line in the sand and she is daring me to step over it!!! The remote was just the first step in a total take over of our household. I am still weighing my options here. Trying to come up with a good strategy. (Ifn' I wait long enough she will have probably forgotten all about the incident, and life as I know it can go back to normal.)

Fabulous idea!

Wow Amanda sounds like you guys have the perfect household!!! While DW and I enjoy most of the same shows, this was her first step at trying to overthrow me as the keeper of the remote. I'm trying to come up with a plan to regain my position as head of the household!!! (I'm feel as if I'm failing miserably here.)

Amanda yes please have DaleG get on here. I need all of the Man Club support I can get here.

Kevin

Kevin......................Dude.......................don't give up!!! Keep up trying to regain control of the remote. Don't let Skye have complete control. You'll never get to watch "Your Programs." You'll always have to watch "Her Programs." Show her............................oh....................hi there sweetie...................just saying hi to Kevin......................no I'm not starting any trouble.....................yes I am being a good boy................I would never start anything...............what's that in your hand snookems..............the.........the..........the REMOTE!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I guess I better go guys. The new head of the household wants me to come and sit by her on the couch and watch one of "Her Shows" with her!!!:scared::scared::scared:

Aww I was looking forward to meeting your wife. :confused3
Deepirate:

It is with deepest regret that we have to jump ship. So very sorry as I felt we were getting to 'know' you all. As someone mentioned, 'till we meet' again on another cruise. We are able to still cruise, but it's earlier in the month, so I just booked this same itinerary for the 1st of December (which was pre-approved) with the boss.

Dale and Patricia, I am also sorry you will not be joining us on this cruise. I am sure we will meet on another. Dale, Dave and I will host one in your honor at our on board Man Club meeting. Have no fear Dale your Man Club card is still highly valued.

As for the remote for the TV, one can always operate it the old fashion way :happytv: Just like BR (Before Remotes).

Kevin

Dale and Patricia, sorry you won't be joining us on this one! At least you do get to take one earlier and I hope that you are able to fit in with your new group (but I don't think they could be more fun than this one!).

We have a busy week, but I will be working to get DaleG to show up at some point. He is over IT and is on his Blackberry and computer all day, so I think at times he tries to stay away when he is at home.

Our girls were begging to go to the beach today. Guess that means I don't book vacations close enough together. We will be there in 108 days, though!
