Good thing that after today I have 4 days off to rest up from all of this hard work!!!! I don't know how all of you who work 5 days a week do it!!! You must be pretty tired by the end of the day. Amanda, are you and your DH surprising your daughters with this cruise? I have read on here where allot of Mom's & Dad's do surprise their kids with a cruise. Just wondering. I didn't know about the Dedicated Disney Cruisers site on Facebook. I just checked it out. I'll have to bookmark it. :thumbsup2

Not this time. We kept the one last Oct. a secret up until the night before. It was pretty cool to reveal to them at the port watching the Magic sail by!

We are COLD here today. I do not like winter, and it has just been cold the past day or two, but I am ready for it to move on.

We work the same amount of time I just have to do my time in 3 days - while you stretch yours out for 5 days. I do kinda like having 4 days in a row off - each - and - every - week!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Just kidding - I know this was probably a special exception for the week. (Or was it????):confused3 You'll never tell - will you?????

DW and I toyed with the idea of surprising our granddaughter with this cruise. We got an OK from her dad, (our son), to take her on the cruise with us. But she is going thru a growing spurt and we are buying her all of her cruise clothes and dresses for the cruise. So DW and her need to go and have her try on the dresses for the cruise. She loves to get all dressed up. She will be 13 when we set sail in December. :thumbsup2

Thankfully our girls were young enough that time really didn't mean much, so I was able to make/try on their clothes without them realizing that they wouldn't be able to wear those clothes this year (which was what they assumed with my "for our next cruise" statement).

It would be much harder to do that with a teenager!

He works from 5 am to 2:30 on a regular day according to his paychecks. He gets home from work same time I get home from homeschool co-op.

He has a very bad wife who just knows he is no longer in that bed when she wakes up at 6 am unless he is louder than usual in the morning.

Good thing he is not a farmer! Please no offers for roosters!

That is too, too funny. Well Skye and Kevin, we don't have any roosters we could send you. But, we do have a yellow male kitty we took in as a stray several years ago. His name is Sunny. Every morning at around 4 or 4:30am he will go from room to room in the house meowing his head off. Now he would awake you up before Kevin leaves for work in the mornings. He will even do this for you on the week-ends when you can sleep in later. At least that way you won't miss your breakfast on the week-ends. That's go to be a plus!!! Also, he will have you up and awake in plenty of time for school, that scheduled appointment you have later in the morning, or just about anything you can think of. Then while you are rushing around getting ready you will find him curled up and fast asleep on your couch, or your freshly made bed, or even your favorite chair. And, whatever you do, Poolease do not disturbe him. He will give you one of those looks, like - "Hey, Cat asleep here, leave me alone!!!" So, guys, when do you want me to send him to you. He's a lover boy, likes to sleep on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings. And, then when you go to bed for the night - he will get in bed with you and try to crowd you so he has most of the bed to stretch out and relax. He sounds perfect for the both of you!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I used to have a cat that hated my alarm clock. If I did not get up fast enough she would go between the sheets and the blankets and bite my toes!!

While I could use your kitty as a great alarm clock, I have to refuse. We learned dd10 and I are allergic and can not have them in our house to live.

Might I suggest you move to where we live as with the different time zone, maybe the kitty clock would then be on time.

Should add we have two little dogs that don't let us sleep in either. They like their morning walk and will whine/bark if you are late. They do not understand Saturdays either.

Skye, Sunny is TOTALLY trainable!!! I know you could train him to bite your toes in the morning as your alarm clock!!! (That is if you are into the biting of the toes sort of thing.:scared1:) I personally am not into that sort of thing - not saying it is wrong or anything:confused3 - just my personal preference!!! And Sunny does not shed one bit!!! (Well not all that much!) He is a very, very, very clean kitty. Hey, you and your DD could wear those surgical masks when you are around Sunny. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. And, you know what................I think I remember reading on here somewhere..........that Kevin said he had always wanted a kitty as a pet every since he was knee high to a grasshopper!!!
Don't worry about Sunny and your two doggies. Sunny can take care of himself. And with Sunny, you don't have to go out in the middle of the night in your jamies to walk him. If fact he won't walk if you put a leash on him - he will lay flat down on the floor. Refuses - simply refuses to walk with a leash on. (He is his own man - errrrrrr I mean kitty.)
Do I see you reconsidering there Skye??!!??

Had emergency surgery on Saturday night for a hernia that was huge and causing a blockage. It was a scary thing. I just went through a similar thing in October. I am home now and quite sore. I am still dealing with eye problems- myasthenia gravis. Hope all is solved before we go to Hawaii

Charlotte, hope you are feeling better soon. A few sea days before we hit the islands should help too!

I had a cat that would wake me up when I told her to. Each night before bed I'd say "6:30 tomorrow Acoma" (for example) and she ALWAYS woke me within 5 minuts of the stated time...she was MAGICAL! OK, the only time it didn't work was when I asked for a wake up call after 8AM...I guess she had an issue with that!

A few years ago when we had 3 cats we found out DD10 is much more allergic than DW. That is when we gave up cats. We even cat sat for our neighbors last week while they were gone and she is still coughing. However I would be more than happy to send to you a cute little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Zora to play with Sunny. :rolleyes1 Maybe it will tire him out and he will sleep later.:confused3:confused3

On behalf of Zora, if there are any takers, she does need a warmer climate to retire to. Poor thing is starting to feel what my mom calls the "damp cold" of our climate.

If dogs are capable of giving you dirty looks about having to go out for a walk in the rain, then Zora is guilty of giving dirty looks.

She's a beautiful Bleinhem colored gal and loves to keep you company.
Too bad she couldn't go live on Castaway Cay with Casey the Cat.

She'd love all the attention of being pet all day long. Of course she'd get fat with all the food dropped ont he ground, but man that would be a good life to retire to if you were a dog.m She'd be in her element as her breed already thinks they exist to be worshipped by man, lap dogs, pet me dogs.

Serious actual cruise question --

We are doing the pros and cons of taking DCL transport from PC to BLT post cruise versus car rental.

Pro for DCL transport- adds on more post cruise fun, no luggage worries, no taking a shuttle to rent your car, no driving
Con- long lines to get buses? to check in at hotels?

Basically for our family it is a 50 cent difference between:

Renting the car at PC on the 22nd for the whole time.
or
Taking the shuttle and renting the car on the 26 (at the WDW Dolphin) the day we plan to leave to go to Mom's for the rest of our vacation

Where are also thinking of renting the car at the Dolphin on the 22nd after the DCL transfer. For only $49.50 more, we could avoid the driving and still have the car the day we arrive.

Is the $50 worth it for not having to claim my luggage, haul it to the car rental shuttle, load my car and drive myself to BLT?
I think maybe so from some of the threads I have read about problems with some of the rental agencies.

What I don't have in the equation is any of the negatives of taking the DCL transfer.

I hear if you have enough people (not sure of the break even point) it is cheaper than DCL transport and still relaxing/luxurious to take a town car service.

Any experience recommendations from those that have sailed out of PC?
Anybody interested in carpooling?

TIA,
Skye- who knows we will be hauling luggage and driving familiar roads to Mom's, but has never driven to PC, but has driven past it before it was a port.

P.S. Another benefit of having the car while at WDW, less people in the car (than on the buses) to bump into the sunburn I expect to have by then. LOL- I did find a dress for formal night that will go with my sunburn!!!

We drive to Orlando, so we have always had our car to this point. There are tolls on the way, too so that is an additional expense unless you go around.

I plan on doing the DLC transfers in Dec as we intend to fly in! I don't want to have to worry about possible weather issues with driving down.

Happy Goofy, Hope all is well, and you are and on your feet again soon. I have had two hernia operations myself. So - been there - done that!!! But I was in my 20's when I went thru both operations. Again, hope you are feeling better soon!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Kevin, We had 3 cats about a year ago. One of them, Sabrina passed away. She was 17 years old. She showed up at our door step one morning and adopted us right away. Now at the time we were living in a upstairs apartment that had it's own outside entrance. All of the upstairs apt's did. So why she picked ours we'll never know. But she was DW's kitty - she just barely tolerated me. (The fun, loving guy that I am!!!) Anyway, it does sound as if your DD has got allergies from kitties pretty bad, guess we better keep Sunny. He is sorta my kitty anyways. Around the house he follows me around like a dog would. Hope your DD gets to feeling better soon.:thumbsup2

Have I mentioned on this thread (hard to remember with three upcoming 'meets' threads, plus the old ones I'm still hanging out at)....

I've been offered an early retirement package at work...and I'm taking it!

So now, THIS CRUISE is turning into a December/Holiday/Florida adventure. :thumbsup2 Need to maximize the cost of the airfare so I may be hanging out there for a while. Friends are 'doing' WDW the week before this cruise, so I'll head down early to play with them for a day or two and then I get to stay through Christmas with my pal Monica! .....or through New Years....or for the rest of the winter.....:rotfl:
