December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

I have a question for all you with kids? My DD was be 7 and DS will be 2 when we sail. Do you normally take your kids to the Oceaneer's Club & Nursery during the day? Do you leave them there at dinner time? Not that I want to dump my kids off there the entire time but I'm wondering what most parents do? Thanks in advance!!!

We need to meet up! We are sailing with a 7 year old and a 2 year old also! Let your 7 year old go as much as she wants to. Dinner with kids are nice, but long for them, so sometimes they have a better time eating in the club. The last DCL sailing we did in Nov with our (at the time 18mon old) proved to be challenging at dinner. We started scheduling nursery time during dinner for him. He was happier. Dinner for 1.5 hrs is a long time to expect any kid to sit and be happy. We also "dumped" our kids a couple times during the cruise, for adult pool time, Palo brunch, and Palo Dinner. All of which are a must do. Don't feel bad. Your kids are well taken care of on Disney!

Hello all,
We booked our 12/15 cruise about a year ago! We are super excited since we have a few friends going as well. I just spent the last two hours (Yes, two fricken hours!) to read thru all of the existing posts. Looking forward to meeting you guys!

My questions are....since the "organizer" of the cruise meet page moved to another cruise, are we still using that page? and if so is there someone in charge? or someone who is organizing?

Is the FE volunteer organizer still organizing, based off of the cruise sign up page? If so Thank you!

I am organizing the FE, but due to some personal matters am a bit behind. Have a major exam to get into the nursing program I'm studying for. After this week, I'll have just work and my two college courses I'm taking. I'm going to move the FE over to a google doc since the previous poster isn't involved here and each person would need to pm her to get things added.

I'll be sure to post a link here in the next week or so.

Thanks for organizing the fe! I registered last night on the google site, but put the wrong dis board name (used mine instead of my husbands-main account. Dis name trpenn10 should be EDH Family :)

I'm looking forward to the FE exchange:banana:, i've been looking online and have some ideas of what I want to create. I'll keep my eyes posted for that link to sign-up.

I have a son that will be 6 and wanting to meet friends he can write to now and meet on the cruise, would your DD accept a letter from a 1st timer cruiser?:confused3

Somebody left our nice cozy friendly group? That's what i get for having quit back reading. I got dizzy going forwards backwards. Or is that backwards while forwards? I thought there was an influx of new names.

The please is dripping with honey and southern pecan pie. :) Oh and our Man cards come eguipped with special sweat gland sensors so if it doesn't recognize it's specific Master it destructs:scared1:. DAY 4) San Juan
Day 5) Sea
DAY 6) Cast Away Cay
DAY 7) Home
Any comments?

I think my daughter will enjoy dinners with us now my son (who will be 2) will be another story. I hate that I have to put him in the nursery, or rather I hate that I have to pay for it. :rolleyes1 Do you typically book the nursery time way before the cruise starts or when the cruise starts? Do you know if they feed them adult food/drink in the nursery? He won't be out of diapers yet (which is why he has to go in the nursery) but he already eats solid foods.

I received your (your wife's?) message this evening and I made the change to your listing on the cruiser list page as requested.

Yes, I switched to a different cruise. I left the website intact for anyone who chooses to utilize it. Although I was not the organizer or starter of this thread, there IS a link to the website from the very first post of this thread, so no one should need to search to find it. Sorry. Happy sailing everyone!

Shari

Our girls will be 5 and 6 at the time of sailing, and they do fairly well with dinner. We enjoy the late seating, so they eat theirs while we have appetizer/salad and then go go the OC. It works out well for us.

I have to say, the men here keep me in stitches! My Dale is quiet and fairly reserved as are many of the men I know. It is fun to see a few cut up and really "chat" on the boards!

Dinner with the younger ones does prove to be trying on some nights. Disney has alots each family with a certain amount of hours available for the Nursery. I think the 7 day cruise is 18hr. This means during the 7 days you can schedule a max of 18 hours total, UNLESS, they have space available. So you can book pre-cruise a max of 18. They want to make it fair to all families of kids under 3, which is why the set a limit, but if they are not full they will take the kids during the cruise. The last cruise we were on they had nursery availability so the nights that dinner was just really not working for our little one, i carried him up the the Nursery to see if they could take him. We were never told no. They will feed them in the Nursery and also at the kids clubs. For the nursery, the will feed them baby food (if you bring it) if not they feed them toddler food from the ship. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you for the heads up about the nursery allotment of hours! :) I hadn't seen that anywhere. I have a feeling our cruise will be full so I may be out of luck. :sad2:
I'm just now trying to read up on Disney's new policy for the Club/Lab. :surfweb: I still can't quite make heads or tails of it. :confused3 Something about there are long "open house" hours during the day now. Open House means you can't check your child in. You have to stay. However they still have a "secured" area where you can check your child in but if the open house is say in the Club then the secured area will only be in the Lab and vice versa. There is a thread about it and parents are hopping mad! What I'm also trying to figure out is if they have open house in the nursery too b/c there is no sense in me signing up for the nursery if it is b/c I'm not paying $6/hr just to play with my own kid. Anyone heard or are familiar with this new Disney policy?

Kevin is happily sleeping next to me. We both just hung up our super parents capes again.
We've had a pretty busy/rough week with our ds18 (special needs kiddo). I've had to do major putting out of fires for his facilty as they gave him notice of what they needed me to do, but did not remember to tell me about some things only I could do.

The old "Lack of planning on your part is not an emergency on my part!" I don't jump when they tell me to, but I did get what needed to be done while forcing(convincing) a non cooperative "adult" he wanted to help me save his housing. Got him to do a few other tasks they could not persuade him to do either.

And still managed to get in a couples party, dinner at a friends, plus two meetings at the school this week.

We ladies went to go do our cleaning and then the laundry sorting.
Me, personally, I was checking the pockets before doing the laundry. You can find all kind of things in there, or under the sofa cushions. You never know what gets left out
Are you really sure we have not seen your Man Club cards?:rolleyes1

Kevin learned a long time ago that being married to a southerner, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar"
He doesn't get in trouble, he gets into mischief.

:cheer2::cheer2: Here Here good idea.

:rolleyes1 Seems someone else likes honey over vinegar, too.

Skye sorry to hear ya'll have had a rough week last week.:sad2: Our grandson has autism. He is 5 years old, and quite the cutie. He and his mom, our daughter, were suppose to go on this cruise with us, but she decided not to go at this time. We all went to WDW a few months ago and he had several episodes and one major one at dinner. So she felt it might be better to wait until he is older. I am glad to hear you got everything taken care of. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out.
Our granddaughter is still suppose to go with us on this cruise. She will be 13 years old at the time we sail. We are hoping her dad, our son won't change his mind. She has been on two other Disney cruises with us. She is really looking forward to the Aqua Duck and riding it as many times as she can. Guess I will have to ride it with her.:cool1::yay::woohoo:
I'll give that a try with DW - honey instead of vinegar - let ya'll know how it works. (At this point in time - I'll try anything!!!)
Well, got to go and run some errands. Talk to you all again soon.

Hi everyone. Well, unfortunately, I had to transfer my ressie on this cruise to a MR. Last year, it was over $500 per person to fly out in December and I really can't do that again this year. I can drive the 4 of us to LA a lot cheaper and I want to utilize the Wonder while she is here :)

That said, the good news is that 2 fantastic rooms opened up 8d's 6666 and 6668, connecting.

This is going to be an awesome cruise for all of you and I'm really sorry to have to miss it.

Linda

Linda, I completely understand. DH came home last night with the bad news that he won't be 'allowed' to take vacation in December. We haven't cancelled yet and are trying to decide what to do (ideally a new job would be best but I don't see that happening).

Oh no:scared1: Dave, we the "Man Club" have to do something. Maybe we can pay a vist to Dale's boss...........just to talk, honest;);)

We will miss you. December is a ways away yet. Maybe the company will change their mind.

Kevin
