December 11, 2010 7 Night Western Magic (Part DEUX)

Hello everyone!!

In terms of excursions we really want to do the Tulum tour at Cozumel and we may do one of the beach ones at Gran Cayman - just to avoid any hassle with getting there and back ourselves!

We are planning on going for a wander at Key West :)

Were on late dining too, in other news it looks like the ship is nearly full I had a look on travelocity and there arent many free cabins onboard  I thought the ship was going to be quiet since this thread had been dead :lmao:

I need to phone DCL and get our transfers sorted out at some point :thumbsup2

We have early dining but are seriously considering moving to late. We always feel rushed to get ready for dinner (the dining room is a family highlight each night-seriously, my kids can't wait for some gourmet surprise like escargot or lobster!) and that would allow us a little extra time. But then we will miss the shows..I'm torn!

I was surprised too by the full-ish boat. I was hoping for a price dip (as we usually get every year when the ship isn't selling) and I was banking on our ho-hum meet thread being an indicator...oh well:confused:

Hi all,

Just found that the original thread was relocated, looks like there's been quite a bit of activity since I last was on. We're still booked and really looking forward to this cruise. It will be myself, my wife, and our two daughters (12 & 11). This will be our third Disney cruise, all on the Disney Magic. We're from Las Vegas and we're huge Disney fans & cruise fans so obviously the Disney cruiselines is a family favorite.

Glad you found us! I thought I had posted a reply last week but apparently I didn't.
Where is everyone?:confused3

Woah its all gone very quiet!

We piad our cruise off a couple of weeks ago :woohoo: we thought we would do it early as the exchange rate has been dropping due to the uk elections - its great to say we 100% on the cruise!:goodvibes

Congrats. I was just figuring out how soon I can get ours paid off..

I think this is the deadest (is that a word?) cruise meet ever,. Maybe it means our ship will only be hald full?! THat would make it worth the quiet thread! lol

My son(18) and I have jumped ship from Freedom of the Seas to the Magic this week. We have cruised aboard the Wonder a couple of times before, but its been awhile. We just really missed a lot of things about Disney and esp Castaway Cay. So, here we are:-D

Well, there's good news and there's not such good news.

DD got the big letter today. She has been accepted at her first choice college. The bad news is that their schedule interferes with the cruise, so we'll be canceling as of Tuesday. Such a kid--she has a choice of a week of finals or a week of cruising and she's going to do finals?!?! Guess I could cruise without her again (no, that wouldn't fly at all!)

SO, sorry to be leaving the group, but it's for a good reason. Have a great cruise...and remember to re-book while on board. Go to Pub Night (last evening about 11). Consider Captain Marvin's in Grand Cayman (we loved it on a previous cruise). If they still have the "Yachtsman's steak", don't order it--worst steak I've ever seen on DCL. Eat the Lava Cake! And have a blast!

Hi everyone,

I am new to the disboards and this is my first disney cruise. Can I join in on the fun? My DH and I are celebrating our anniversary and what better way than a disney cruise. We are combining it with a week at Saratoga Springs.
Looking forward to chatting with all of you.

Well, it looks like as of lately, it looks like the 2 newbies to this thread are the only ones who have visited lately:-)I think everyone else has abandoned us. lol
Welcome to Disboards! This is the absolute best place to find info on your Disney Cruise! It was invaluable to me on my first cruise. Castaway Club is another good site to vist for Navigators and menus.
What a fantastic way to celebrate your Anniversary! Its an early birthday cruise for me(2 weeks early)

Hi Susie,

Thanks for responding. It's nice to know there really is somebody out there. I will check out the castaway club site. And hey, lets here it for the newbies!!!

Welcome! We are a dead crowd here. lol. I have cruised Disney before and NEVER had such a quiet meet group, but glad to see we have added a few new people to our group! I'll add you to the list on page 1!

Congrats on having a responsible and future thinking daughter! We are going to miss you!
I second all of your recommendations! Cpt Marvin's is tops (the employees are better than Disney!), Pub Nite is worth the late night, Lava cake is awesome and not so sure about the steak!

Thanks for adding us to the list. Well, everyone, its less than 6 months away. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Not the dead crowd here just the very busy crowd. Summer is the time when we race (triathlons, running, adventure racing) and go camping, mountain biking and kayaking. Haven't finished paying for the cruise but have it all banked so soon. Looking forward to a nice relaxing cruise although will probably try to get some kayaking and snorkeling and running done too.

We've been vacationing too- Surf Camp with Girl Scouts then to the beach for another week to be lazy.

I hear there is a fun run on CC very early after docking. I saw pics here somewhere. I haven't run in a few months and have been packing on the weight (UGGH!) so started back at the gym today. My goal is to lose 30 lbs by the cruise and do that run!:yay:

So I've been looking for a hotel pre-cruise (looks like Radisson at the Port this time) and I've got our rental cars taken care of (if anyone wants a discount rate for Avis you can use my coporate account #, it was the cheapest I could find this time- I'll PM it to you). I guess it's time to start thinking of excursions and what we are going to do all week.
I'm thinking I might go with the flow this trip and not be so well planned.
Anyone else wnat to share their "plan"? :confused3

Where is everyone? I'm actually starting to get excited and everyone else has disappeared? I will be so sad if I'm the only one in our Fish extender exchange cause I'll know what I'm getting!:lmao:

We are also looking forward to our cruise and Disney experience. Its the middle of winter down under at moment and we need some sun and relaxation.

After lurking through all the DIS and reading about the fish extender, you won't be the only one. Our family is keen on sharing a bit of Australia and wants to join in too.

As for excursions, we have our plan down to a dolphin swim in mexico and the rest is being debated. Trying to find something in key West at moment.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

YEAH! Thank you Bill for not leaving me hanging! :lmao:

We did the dolphin swin at Chankanaab (sp?) in Cozumel and it was the best excursion we have ever done! My husband and I had as much fun as the kiddos!
On another note, me & my Girl Scout troop went to a YMCA camp in San Diego where the majority of the staff is Australian college students chasing hte endless summer. My daughters will get a kick out of anything Australian now because they were fascinated with the staff's stories of "Down Under" lol

Hope Everyone is having a wonderful summer so far.
We have done the Western Caribbean w/ exception of Key West a few times. Last time, in GC we did the Island Tour with Stingray City and 7 mile beach in afternoon. We really enjoyed that. We usually go to Paradise Beach in Cozumel.
This time, I think we are just going to explore Key West and have a yummy Frozen Key Lime pie. I will go ahead and admit I am the ever the tourist and have my camera ready to take pictures of anything or nothing...
Not sure what we are going to do in GC. We may treat it like a sea day. Who knows?! Cozumel... we're talking about doing the Tulum ruins. Chris just hates the idea of devoting the whole time to one activity. I hope I can talk him into it.
Castaway Cay in Dec, I hope the water is warm enough to get in at least for a little bit or it may be similiar to a Polar Bear Plunge.
The idea of fish extender sounds like fun to me. I have been working on my fish extender. I hope it turns out okay...
Susie
