December 11, 2010 7 Night Western Magic (Part DEUX)

Yorba Linda. We are practically neighbors. :)

Wow! We are! Does Mary live in Cali too? We should do a mini-meet at Disneyland or something before the cruise..On our last cruise we had a family from Pasadena, Thousand Oaks, Anaheim, us and our neighbors. It was funny that we flew all the way to Florida to meet each other!

I must say this is the saddest post I have ever done. Our Disney Cruise 2010 has been canceled, I really hope we can go in 2011. We survived the new furnace purchase and still planned on the cruise but we just found out in the last 2wks that my husband's job is relocating him to another state. Sooo now we are fixing the house and putting it on the market. All extra money will be going into this new adventure in our lives. So please send lots of pixie dust that our house sells in this market and gives us enough money to do some things we want to do with it.

Oh Kristin, that stinks! I do hope everything goes smoothly, I can't even imagine being uprooted and moved like that, so glad my husband works for the local government!
Best of luck, maybe after the move you'll get some pixie dust (and energy!) and still be able to join us!pixiedust:

Mary is actually from Florida. We met on our 12/08 Disney cruise!

We cruised in Dec 2008 also?! Dec 13th-20th I believe, Western Caribbean then too.

We did the Eastern the week before you. How funny! We also did the Western Double Dip last November and can't wait to get back to Nachi Cocom in Cozumel.

I'm joining in! This will be the third cruise for DH (38) and I (37). Our first was eastern in Feb 2009 and the we got a bounceback offer  that I chose to use in August 2009. August is our anniversary, but boy is Florida HOT! I doubt that we'll be doing that again.

We are sooo hooked on Disney cruises. The magic, services, rooms, shows... we had excellent experiences with them. Thanks to Cloverly, our drink server, he forgot how to pour himself his own soda!!!

The last day of our second cruise, I immediately booked this one. I wasn't 100% sure we were going to go, but now I'm pretty sure. I LOVE Disney at Christmastime and I wanted to experience the ship decorated.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully, meeting you!!!

Peggy

Welcome aboard, you will love the ship at Christmas with all the decorations. This will be our third Christmas cruise but our first to the western. We are pretty excited about going somewhere different this year.

Greetings from Canada eh!
Gee I wish we were riding with you all. We're riding a parallel cruise on the Carnival Dream and will be in Cozumel Monday. We'll 'warm it up' for you!

Imkmahm, good to see you again former tablemate!

Our next Magic cruise is one year after yours on Dec 10, 2011. (Same itinerary as yours)

Unfortunately, that thread is dead so far and I'm looking to already pick up on some cruise excitement! We had such fun on our Dec 2009 cruise that I can't wait to go again.

We may see your ship off our port or starboard side sometime during that week so be sure to wave!:rotfl2:

You know, it probably isn't too late to change your mind and come along on this DCL trip instead!

We're doing the Alaska DCL cruise in August 2011 so I doubt we'll be cruising in December that year. We do leave in 2 1/2 weeks for our April 25 4 night cruise to the Bahamas though. This will be the 3rd time on that itinerary for us and it is only fitting in to our schedule since I'm still unemployed and have the time to travel at the moment.

Has anyone been thinking about the excursions? I'm not sure if we are going to do one or not...

We are going to Nachi Cocom in Cozumel for sure! We went there last year and it was WONDERFUL. My husband has been begging to go back. We will probably go to Stingray City in Grand Cayman. I did the city tour/turtle farm last year and it was pretty boring. We went to Stingray City in 2003 and it was awesome. I'm just not sure if we will book it through DCL or on our own. The Rum Point/stingray city combo looks like fun. As for Key West, we will probably just walk around on our own and hit the pirate museum.

Welcome! I'll add you to the list. We have fallen in love with Disney at Christmas too. DH has suggested we try sailing in the warmer season then quickly changed his mind. The ships are so beautiful at Christmas!

Wow, we've been at the beach for spring break and I come back and there's...GASP...life on our meet board!:thumbsup2

We haven't even though of excursions- We picked the western again because I love Cozumel & Grand Cayman but I'm thinking we may lay low this year. I loved the dolphin swim AND especially Chankanaab Resort (sp?) but DH is freaking out about getting kidnapped or robbed in Mexico right now so he wants to stay on the ship. I don't want to cheapen the kids' once in a life time dolphin swim by doing it again but I wouldn't mind sitting at Chankanaab all day having drinks delivered to me!
Sharen- I'm going to have to check out Nachi Cocum. Is that the one that has the underground rivers or the beach resort place?

Nachi Cocom is the beach resort place. Xcaret has the underground rivers. Since Cozumel is a tiny little island (and not a border town) I am not too concerned about getting kidnapped/murdered etc.... Last year we had zero problems and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. When I visited Mazatlan a few years ago there were young men (boys really) with machine guns all over the place:scared1:. Very unsettling! I have also visited Cancun with zero problems. Hopefully nothing changes between now and then.

I think I'll be able to sway him. It's the law enforcement side of him that is always thinking tactical..lol
I looked up Nachi Cocom and it looks very much like Chankanaab. Is there food service? Things to do? Their website is kinda plain..:confused3

Wow...it has been awhile since I've been on and we have some new faces! Great to see everyone and so sorry to see Kristen go.

We haven't even looked for excursions yet ourselves...I'm trying to hold that excitement for a bit! A quick question...when do you find out what seating you have for dinners? I don't think it matters much for us as we are used to eating later...but would love to be able to find out at some point.

Your reservation should specify what dining you are confirmed for. We unfortunately have late seating, but are wait listed for early. Last year the early dining waitlist came through for us about 3 months prior to sailing. We are keeping our fingers crossed.....

Andrea - I tried to respond to your PM, but your mailbox is full.

I checked our seating time because I figured if we had early I could switch it to late and give someone the chance to do the early that wanted it...but alas we were slotted for the second seating anyways.

We always eat late around here anyways so is not a biggy for us. :)

Has anyone been thinking about the excursions? I'm not sure if we are going to do one or not...

Hello everyone!!

In terms of excursions we really want to do the Tulum tour at Cozumel and we may do one of the beach ones at Gran Cayman - just to avoid any hassle with getting there and back ourselves!

We are planning on going for a wander at Key West :)

Were on late dining too, in other news it looks like the ship is nearly full I had a look on travelocity and there arent many free cabins onboard  I thought the ship was going to be quiet since this thread had been dead :lmao:

I need to phone DCL and get our transfers sorted out at some point :thumbsup2

I got an email to clean my PM mailbox so you can resend it now;)
